March 6, 20251 yr Hi everyone, I'm looking for a little advice here, being new to MSFS after being a long time P3D user. I recently purchased a new system specifically to run MSFS: Intel(R) Core(TM) 14th Gen i9 14900KF (24-Core, 68MB Cache, 2.4GHz to 6.0GHz Thermal Velocity Boost) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X 1 2,400.00 2,400.00 2x32GB, DDR5, 5200MT/s 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive I'm new to this, and new to tweaking MSFS, and that process can take a lot of time to get right. But I wanted to ask a more fundamental question first, as I have a window to return the system for a full refund within 30 days; Is it a realistic expectation to run MSFS 2020 (or MSFS2024, if I purchase it), 1080p A steady locked 30 fps at a major airport (JFK, LAX, EGLL) 50 AI aircraft (I've been trialing FSLTL) high graphic settings A complex aircraft; PMDG, Fenix, FBW A380 I know there are numerous approaches and philosophies, but simply wondering if my expectations a ballpark reasonable or not. The system is ~$6000 CAD, so I'm happy to return it and find a better one (or even wait for something new) if that's the general consensus. Apologies for the newbie question, and many thanks for your opinions. Daniel
March 6, 20251 yr 1080P is wasting your 4090. You want a 4K monitor Pete Richards I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988. Daniel Hi Daniel, I get a solid 60-80 fps with basically ultra settings in MSFS 2020, I only fly quality pay ware aircraft (Fenix A320, iFly 737 Max & IniBuilds A350) I run 4K on my 55” Sony X90J. Look at my sig for my pc specs. You should get decent performance from that PC. I’d be happy to answer any questions or help you setup your PC to get the best out of it. March 6, 20251 yr 4000 US for that build? You can do better for less money. Have you looked elsewhere? Edited March 6, 20251 yr by Greggy_D
March 6, 20251 yr MSFS uses much, much more modern architecture than P3D and does not require a supercomputer to run well. I have a 14900K paired with a 4070S and I am able to maintain that framerate with pay ware aircraft and pay ware airports on mostly ultra settings on a 4K monitor--well I have only tested the Fenix as the PMDGs are not in 2024 yet and I do not use that level of add-on traffic. But for sure with a 4090 you should have no issues achieving the performance you are looking for. Also, I agree with Greggy_D that is a very high price. I got my rig in November with almost exactly the same specs, just a 4070S rather than a 4090, and I paid CDN$2,700. A 4090 would have set me back another C$1,300, so C$4,000 about US$2,700. MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Thank me later. Also, $4,000 USD does seem a bit high, but I feel for you....the 4090 prices are much higher than they were for me almost 2 years ago. I only paid $1,650 for my 4090 back then. I get sticker shock looking at 4090's and 5-series now. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

I looked in all the places I knew to look, and finally I came across a Dell ad. My stipulations at the time was the top chip I was aware of and the top GPU I could find. The 5090 had just been released but everything I read was that it was going to be impossible find for 6 months at least. I decided to "settle" on a 4090 if I could find one. I found a 9800X3D but it had a second/third tier graphics card. I would go for that if I found one with a 4090. I've always had custom systems built for me, but trying to find components was a nightmare. I went to the place I've used before (Canada Computers) and they essentially said forget it - better to buy something pre-built as we have no parts that you want and no timeframe on getting any, at any price. I must have picked the worst time in history to buy a new computer, lol
