strange dark outline around 3D objects

Featured Replies

Hi all, just now observed something that as soon as you see it, you cant unsee it anymore and it utterly annoys me:

Do you see the dark/black outline around the AI planes? What kind of artefact is this? I do not have this in MSFS2020 and no, it is not related to the ambient occlusion setting, as it stays no matter what I put there (currently on ultra). Anyone knows how to get rid of this?

Greetings, Chris

I don't see any dark/black outline around the AI planes...

I had this happen to me last night but I have no idea how this occurs. It’s bit difficult to see in the picture but I know exactly what you mean. It makes the planes almost cartoonish.

it might have simmering to do with frame generation or NVIDIA’s latest drivers.

Cheers,

 Pete

I've just started up 2024 with SU1 and don't have the problem (even when zoomed in).

I'm using Beyond ATC with FSLTL AI Traffic. Usually I run with TAA and with Frame Generation OFF. I tried it with DLSS and FG ON - no difference. Latest nVidia drivers.

Maybe it's only a problem with default MSFS AI (which I have disabled)?

It's good I can't see it then

Exactly this. Hopefully not related to the driver or FG, as this is no option for me to turn off

I can turn off FG (with a slider) in MSFS - can you not?

I did, doesnt do anything. Sadly. So it might be DLSS then.

BTW: I meant with "no option" that if it would have been due to FG, it would be no option for me to turn FG off, as I need those extra FPS

Aaah - right ... that makes sense ;)

Have you tried the latest AutoFPS? It gives me quite a significant frame rate boost - especially at busy airports. It's been working beautifully for me for a good few weeks, yet they seem to find ways to improve on it on a daily basis (!).

Use AutoFPS all the time when flying out of big hubs. But with FG on 😉

That's all good then ;)

Does this "outlining" happen with DLSS but without FG?
