TBH, if they did offer it like that the price would probably be something along the lines of.

$110 per variant

or

$120 for a bundle of all variants.

(regardless of sim).

and adding more "budget" options tends to be far more effort than its worth.

If Just Flight, Flight Factor, PMDG, et al can afford to do multiple/single variants, these guys can, too.

No, I don't think so. The Tier 1 developers are charging either the same or very similar prices. E.g., the A2A Sims Comanche is $50 and compares directly to AFL 172 NG for $50 or the SimCoders Ma

X-Plane v12 includes a good Citation X as a Default...? IIRC, the Cirrus VisionJet is included in v11 and is definitely worth $15. If you're looking for something as complicated as a Citatio

In sum, I don't want to be forced to pay for a premium bundle of five "different" versions of the same aircraft when all I want is ONE.

That's a "you" problem then.

For me, it's about bang for bucks and readiness for different missions. Which also inherently disqualifies some available $50+ add-ons because they offer just that - a single variant.

It's not really a "problem" at all, is it...?

Let's face it, this is Pretend Pilot stuff, and nobody needs every permutation of an airframe to be "mission ready".

All I "need" is a single variant to get the experience of the airframe.

That goes double, triple...or possibly more given the plethora of simulated 737's available. All of which were literally designed IRL to be as identical to each other as possible to keep training & staff costs as low as possible.

If these guys want to sell their 5+ "variant" addon as a monolithic bundle, that's their choice. I'll be happily flying different products from other devs who understand that giving most of their consumers what they want is a better strategy to increased revenue.

I was just going for the figure of speech.

And I still don't get it. If you get all variants of a given aircraft simulated to a high standard in a single package that boils down to a moderate per-variant price, you purchase the package and then press "Del" on any aircraft folder you don't want to use. If you wish to try a different fuselage length or winglets or whatever, you simply install it from the package. No addiitonal purchase necessary.

Take Airbus narrowbodies for example. Two developers offer, say, an A319. One sells an IAE powered 319 with wingtip fences for $90 and the CFM variant with sharklets for $90, while another sells the entire A319 lineup (IAE, CFM, LEAP, G1000, fences, sharklets, ACJ) for $130. Both products are at virtually the same level of fidelity. Why on earth would I want to spend $90 on as single variant when I can have them all for $130?

Yes, I understand your perspective and it's certainly a valid choice.

Mine is simply that I prefer a selection of entirely different aircraft for the same money.

E.g, I'd rather have an airliner, a turboprop, and a helicopter for around $150 total instead of 5 very similar variants of a 737 for $120. That way I can fly entirely different experiences.

Or I'd rather pay $120 for the HS Challenger - but only based on its long established reputation as one of the most in-depth add-ons ever released for any simulator.

So it's not the $120 spend, it's the lack of options to get what I want relative to what's already available. My direct comparison is that I can get an excellent A320 or 737 for right around $60 each.

I just don't think this new "yet another 737" 5-Pack is going to warrant that kind of outlay when there's so much competition.

The RV 12 version 2 is an excellent piece of work. Much better than the version1. Its my favorite small single plane for sure and it was free. I made a dirt strip on my land using WED and have improved my skills greatly practicing on it, 1300 ft. I plan on building it for real if I can ever find a reasonable priced dozer contractor in my area. Unlikely. If I can afford it at some point I will buy a dozer and do it myself. Mostly for ultralights but at 90 by 1300 it will be LSA ready also. And of course it will be great for RC plane flying. I wish the guy who made the RV 12 was still building other freeware....
