Frame Gen mod in SU2?

This isn’t 2024, which I won’t use until it’s stable. But 2020 is looking better and better.

A few notes for those using FG with either 2020 or 2024 and AutoFPS: FG is detected by reading the FG setting in the MSFS settings. If you are using an FG mod that doesn't utilise this MSFS se

There is an easy workaround: in the sim menu, turn HDR off and then back on and the colours will be back to normal.

Auto FPS has always worked that way for me, when flights him has focus auto FPS shows active and FPS is double what's shown on the SIM. When the sin loses focus Auto FPS shows inactive and the FPS matches what's the SIM showing. I have a 3090 card using the latest universal and version DLL with essentially no issues

So this is 2020 for me: FG active, all counters show 79/80 fps.  Without FG I get 40-45 fps.   fps is limited to 80 in Rivatuner.

Compared with 2024: now there's a difference between fps counters.  There was no difference in fps between FG off/FG set to DLSS/FG set to FSR3 in SU2 settings.  So clearly it wasnt actually happening, and I know that anyway because with SU1 I was getting up to 100 fps with FG on and nothing has changed in my system.

I dont know how to explain this other than FG wasnt workiung for me in SU2, and now still isnt having rolled back to SU1 with a complete reinstall.

Something tells me I'm not comparing apples with apples here.....

SU2 comes with DLSS4, could that be causing issues?

Dont think so, I'd been using DLSS4 with SU1 more than happily before

Works flawless here (latest version as of 2025-03-26: dlssg-to-fsr3-0.130 (Universal)-738-0-130-1742150779).
Usually no artefacts at all, only some very minor on the runway on the takeoff run at the edges of the display, hardly noticeably.
Bad artefacts on 2D panels (e.g. inflight map, ATC window) at low altitude with moving landscape behind.

fps as expectedwith Frame Generation, also in combination with DLSS4 (version 310.1.1.0) DLL Preset E.
5900x/3090Ti, fps 70 -80, everything maxed out.

Be careful:
Choosing DLSS preset "Latest" (I think it was "H") used the nVidia DLSS and not the Frame Gen DSR3 DLLs - the option for Frame Generation is not shown in FS2020/2024 setup then.

Can you confirm which of the universal versions it was please?  The last update I can see was 16/3/25? dlssg-to-fsr3-0.130 (Universal)-738-0-130-1742150779

Was this with SU1 or SU2?

I'm not sure if it makes a difference to your issue, but in your first image AutoFPS is the app in focus whereas in your second image the sim is the focused app. This affects reported fps.

FG isn't/won't be active in your 2020 image.

Thanks for the pointer, I'm doing some retests to iron out any test discrepancies!

I've also found that both sims can lose focus all on their own and FG deactivates until you click the mouse button in sim.

You can tell because the FPS changes and the mouse pointer reverts to the  standard Windows pointer instead of the bolder in-sim pointer.

I have made some changes to 2020.  After a reinstall, I've reset to DX12, made sure FG is on in options.  Its clear FG is on in the sim and Rivatuner and autofps show 80fps, while the in sim counter shows 40fps.

Now onto 2024....

So, I have FG on in 2024 settings.

One thing IM noticing constantly is that the Render resolution stays stubbornly at 3840x2160.  Should this change with the DLSS quality setting?

Difference between this and 2020, is that in 2024 autofps shows 100, ans rivatuner and sim counter show 50.  Its clear FG isnt active in the sim as no artifacting

Yes, I think it should render at 1440p and output at 2160p.

Not sure then.

I use vsync in Nvidia CP with it disabled in the sim. I'm not sure if the in-sim FPS counter shows FG frames, just the raw framerate.

I use a TV and for some reason I need to have Gsync/VRR enabled else it doesn't lock to my TV's 60Hz.

I just make sure that the sim is in focus (AutoFPS title bar white) and that AutoFPS reports a lock of 59/60 with FG active.

I'll fire up the sim and see what the in game counter reports.

As roesti said earlier, FSR3 is now available natively in SU2. Have you tried using that instead of the dlssg-to-fsr3 mod? Just don’t forget to remove the mod files before using the native version. I find that it is working well with my 3080Ti.

Just done a quick test:

MSFS2024 SU1.

In-sim FPS 59/60.

AutoFPS 59/60 once settled.

FG Active in both.

I have seen the problem you describe in the past and it was always related to focus or vsync.

Does it wash out your colours like some users are describing?
