Installing Milviz B737 to P3D V5.4

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have the Milviz B737 and the installer for it only goes up to V4 of P3D.  Is there a way to install it to P3D V5.4 and

have a functional Milviz manager for it? I got it to sorta install into V5 but can's remove the nose gear chock. Also,

it installed a Trueglass and Realights which causes both V4 and V5 to choke and crash.  I tried one way to make it work

in V5 but the MVAMS manager doesn't recognize the aircraft. BTW, I do have V4 and V5 both installed.

I understand the the TDFi Real lights and True Glass are not compat with P3D V5, From what I have read, they have Vram issues

I have them both with the TFDi 717, no issues.

That is swell for you however, for P3D V5 the TDFi products do not work. The ones for the MV B737 were provided by Milviz.

and have to be intergrated by Milviz.  As I have previously stated, I can point the installer to a folder of my choice and then

copy over the folders/files to my P3D V5 addon folder - the Milviz manager will not show the addition of the B737 in P3D V5.4

I have both P3D V4 and V5 but wanted to add the B737 to P3D V5 and that is where I need some help on my issue.

I was going to add a picture here ala postimage but it will not post here.

In my experience, the Reallight and TrueGlass installers that have come packaged with other add-ons have always downloaded the latest version off the TFDi servers.  The latest versions do work for me on P3Dv5.4...now that said, I have a 4090 with 24GB of VRAM, so don't know if there are still issues with lower-end GPUs.

As far as MVAMS, there's no way I know of to point it to another sim--with Milviz acft that never officially made it to P3Dv5, I have just used MVAMS to make the changes in v4 and then re-copied the acft back over to v5.

Again, Nice that it works for you. This is my GPU data, don't know if you consider my GPU "Low End"

I don't think you can call it chopped liver!! I'd have to see if my GPU is doing the heavy lifting for P3D graphics, I guess.

At any rate, the Milviz supplied RealLights and True Glass when acticate for this particular MIlviz B737 will choke my SIm and it

will promptly close.  That's all I can tell you.

It states that it is for P3D V4 not 5 so I do not know how it manages to function in P3D V5 for you. That defies

what I am experiencing in my rig i.e crashing in my sim from what I have read TDFi has not developed it for P3D V5..yet or ever.

Both of these programs did not come off the servers, they were part of the MilViz freebie download and after installing the basic

aircraft, these programs popped asking for a yes/no activation. That's all I can tell you.

Milviz 737-200 works in p3dv5 and so does the trueglass and reallight connected to it. Only problem I have noticed is the airspeed (the plane sometimes acts like a rocket ship and it is quite hard to slow down). I have uploaded multiple YouTube videos from P3Dv5.4 with the plane if you want to check it out.  🙂

Everyone is telling me it works in P3D V5..so some one please tell me how to make it work in P3D V5.4 - and I assume the MV Manager also works in P3D V5.4 - The basic point of my original post here was seeking how to make it work in P3D V5.4 including the MVAMS manager. What do I copy where?

I would like to install the 737 to my Addons Directory in P3DV5.4 if possible. When the exe install file runs, it will sniff out if you have P3D v3 or V4

but not V5. It also offers a choice of a directory of your choice.  In P3DV4 if selected it looks like it would install in the P3DV4 sim objects airplanes

folder.

If you have P3D4 installed install the plane there. Create a symbolic link of the MV Boeing 737-200 directory into the Airplanes directory of P3D5. Since I made this some time ago, i can't remember how I did manage the sounds and effects. Either copy them manually from P3D4 to P3D5 or onetime install into P3D5 and then delete the aircraft only, since it is brought in by a symbolic link.

Symbolic link is easy. Just right click on the MV Boeing 737-200 directory and click in the context menu on "link source". Then go into P3D5 aircraft directory, right click and select insert as and then symbolic link.

The MV tool does all changes in P3D4 and it's mirrored into P3D5 then. If you add textures, add them in P3D4.

Ok?

I got a symbol link addon from:

file:///C:/Program%20Files/LinkShellExtension/Doc/linkshellextension.html

The hyper link will not  function.

Thanks for the info. When I did a right click on the 737 folder, I did not see the insert options. I found something that would include that option

(sort of) when I did a right click

Below is original options on a right click

Below is after I added a program that added source link option

The operation was almost successful except for one thing...

The gravel kit nose skid appears and can't seem to shut if off.

I tried to do a symbolic link for the MVAM manager but that did not fix the issue.

This is link for the program that adds the symbol link to a right click

file:///C:/Program%20Files/LinkShellExtension/Doc/linkshellextension.html

No, don't use a symbolic link for MVAM Manager. This does only work on the 737 installed in P3D4. You can only mirror the plane, nothing else. Some addons are managed in V5 without problem by the same manager. You can remove the gravel kit either by modifying the confic of the plane or with MV Manager. It does change it in v4 and it's mirrored into v5.

I deleted the mirrored MVAM manager like you said leaving only the master one in my P3D V4 folder.

As far as the mirrored copy (p3DV5)  of the  737 goes, I can not make the gravel kit disappear in P3D V5.

I changed the gravel kit entry in the aircraft.cfg in P3DV5 to false and it did not make the gravel kit go away.

In P3D V4, I can turn the grave kit on/off if I access the aircraft.cfg and edit the gravel kit= entry from true or false.

Using the MV manager for P3D4, the gravel kit option does not function.

I checked the aircraft cfg file (P3dV5)  and all the planes listed are gravel_kit=false

I tried to get the 737 working in v5 a long time ago without success.    The MVAMS just gives me the following error :-

And if I select the 737 in the sim (after copy/pasting to the v5 root) it locks up and crashed to desktop.

I tested this morning. I can select the gravel kit in the MVAMS app and it appears on the planes where it's set. If I remember right, I delete all WX radar gauges from this airplane, so if weather radar is selected, it does not crash. Also the RealLightInstaller.exe TrueGlassInstaller.exe are old. Use newer ones from other products. I see no reason, why it's not working. Maybe you try to uninstall the 737 once and install it again in v4, then create the symbolic link to v5 of the plane only.

Did you delete the MV Boeing 737 directory in P3Dv5 before creating the link? I use symbolic link but maybe a smart link could work better for you. But don't ask me about the link types. I hardly understand the differences.

I use this program for the symbolic links

https://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html#contact

The download is at the bottom. Before you have an explanation on how to use it.

Maybe you should try a reinstall too. As mentioned above, you need to install it in P3Dv4, then mirror it to v5, since MVAMS only modifies the 737 in the P3D4 directory. The error of MVAMS seems to be a broke install.
