March 28, 20251 yr I just tried to run MSFS2020 and after checking for updates it displays a screen advising there is not enough disk space yet my C drive has 52GB free and the drive I have MSFS installed on (D:) has 77GB free. Also the screen does not indicate how much space is required for the update. Does anyone else have this problem? I tried to upload an image from URL using Postimages — free image hosting / image upload but it didn't work Maybe try https://i.postimg.cc/vT4cmjRS/not-enough-disk-space.jpg Edited March 28, 20251 yr by Jarnie add picture by url Regards John Gigabyte Z390 m/b, i7 9700K cpu, 16Gb Hyper X Fury 3200 ram, RTX2060 6Gb, Gigabyte 32" monitor, MSFS 2020 store edition

March 28, 20251 yr Author I have now solved my problem. I clicked on the install path which then opened that folder. I then navigated to C:\Users\'MY NAME'\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages which I selected and it then continued on although it did take much longer to fully load and start all the time my disk activity led was lit as if something 'big' was happening and maybe some file being built. All I can think of was the (installation) path had somehow become corrupted. Strangely every addon I had previously installed was in the Community folder everything in MODMAN was unticked even though some of them (the ones I had previously installed via Modman) were in the Community folder. Somehow those links were lost. Thanks for your assistance. Although I deleted so much off my drive and then it eventually installed AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance 32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card
March 28, 20251 yr Author Could someone please confirm that I chose the correct folder as the installation folder ie. C:\Users\'MY NAME'\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages Lastly I also seemed to have lost all the 'links' between ModMan and the Community folder as I noticed that when I 'unticked' a 'package name' in Modman (to uninstall it) it was not removed from the Community folder. To fix this problem I manually removed those 'packages' from the Community Folder, then selected them in Modman, cloicked on DELETE and then added them back to ModMan and ticked them to install in Community folder. I am wondering if I know the 'culprit' and that is Ccleaner (https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download|) which I recently ran to clean my system and if I remember correctly it cleans up all sorts of duplicate items including links. As such I will not run Ccleaner again and suggest that no one else does just to be sure until someone states that they have used Ccleaner and had no problems with MSFS. I used to use CCleaner all the time until two IT people at work told me to stay away from it.
March 28, 20251 yr Author Thanks Donor. I have just fixed addons add with Modman by deleting all the files Monman had created and then starting from scratch ie run Modman with none of the files/folders which Monman creates when first run and now evevrything seems to be working again. A tip for other readers - NEVER run CCLEANER. Regards John Gigabyte Z390 m/b, i7 9700K cpu, 16Gb Hyper X Fury 3200 ram, RTX2060 6Gb, Gigabyte 32" monitor, MSFS 2020 store edition
March 29, 20251 yr ccleaner works well if used properly. cleanup and registry specifically. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

Give CCleaner unrestrestricted access to fix every single reg “error” it finds and it will break Windows and apps. Guaranteed. Never, ever delete a reg entry simply because CCleaner says you should. Use it with discretion after uninstalling apps (deleting only that apps reg entries) and other entries where you know that the reg entry relates to a now redundant change you have made. I have no idea what 'properly' means as I didn't notice any readme or onscreen warnings. Makes me think use freeware with caution - see below. 2 hours ago, RaptyrOne said: Give CCleaner unrestrestricted access to fix every single reg “error” it finds and it will break Windows and apps. I did not know that. I regularly use Ashampoo WinOptimzer to cleanup and allow it to remove unwanted registry entries and never had any problems (with Ashampoo). Maybe I should stick with payware rather than freeware. The only reason I used Ccleaner (after reading about it somewhere) was because it seemed to be able to cleanup stuff which Ashampoo doesn't and maybe that should have rung the 'warning bells' anyway. [added later] I know have found that 'toms hardware' web site states CCleaner is ok as a junk cleaner, and also Microsoft now detects CCleaner as a Potentially Unwanted Application Edited March 29, 20251 yr by Jarnie add 'added later] Regards John Gigabyte Z390 m/b, i7 9700K cpu, 16Gb Hyper X Fury 3200 ram, RTX2060 6Gb, Gigabyte 32" monitor, MSFS 2020 store edition
