Since it was pointed out above that a 2D monitor was being used, I'm curious if that was mentioned because some are using a non-standard monitor like a 3D monitor? Al I have never heard of a "3D monitor", but maybe that's a thing now. Sometimes people consider VR goggles to be "3D", maybe that's what they mean. I used the term specifically because "3D VR" headset requires twice the VRAM of a 2D monitor of same resolution. that's why you want the most powerful, highest VRAM GPU you can get for a 16.6 Megapixel VR headset like the Pimax Crystal Light. for a 2D-4K monitor you might get away with a 16 GB GPU. I run a 4070ti Super and it handles 4K no problems with Ini A350, Fenix, Ini EGLL, JFK and LAX - with a blend of High and Ultra and Ray Tracing. 16GB is fine with frames locked at 60. May 1, 20251 yr Author I just wanted to update this thread after receiving my GPU. A lot of ordering and cancelling on Amazon. I'm pretty sure they are happy to see me go. 🥳 So my build is complete and I never received my 9070XT as I decided to stick with the RTX 5080. My build includes the following: NZXT H7 Flow (Black), Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Thermalright Prism 360 AIO, Gigabyte AM5 Eagle AX, Teamgroup 6000Mhz 64GB of RAM CL30-36-36-76, ASUS TUF OC RTX 5080, Corsair RMe 1000W PSU. As far as the RTX 5080 is concerned, it does pack a punch and is a considerable upgrade over my RTX 3080 and I am not even overclocking it which this ASUS TUF with overclocking can start to approach 4090 performance. I am able to get 60FPS in 4K with DLSS (Quality) and all Ultra settings. In highly dense areas such as JFK or LaGuardia it takes a hit which is to be expected but dropping down to 30FPS or waiting to reach 3000ft things will smooth out at 4K. As for VRAM, no addons, I can hit around 10-11GB with Ultra settings. However, Nvidia has announced that the RTX 5xxx series are now capable of memory compression but developers would need to take advantage of that. Asobo, you listening? I was considering a last gen 7900XTX but I decided against paying the $1K+ going rate for 2-3 year old tech and I am not paying Nvidia crazy money for a 5090. The RTX 5080 offers a nice balance and I got it for MSRP which is still more than a 5080 reference card. Funny though is that for some reason, MSFS 2024 looks cleaner to me with DLSS in Quality mode vs TAA or AA turned off, weird. Edited May 1, 20251 yr by Rodster

Jase I agree as I am able to play at 4K in high end mode at 30FPS with a 3080 10GB GPU. As I mentioned in my latest comment, the new RTX 5000 series cards use memory compression but the developers would have to take advantage of it. Edited May 1, 20251 yr by Rodster
