Graphics Settings keep lowering automatically

Featured Replies

As the title says everytime I get a pop up message about the "Resource usage exceeds GPU memory capacity...." the sim is automatically lowering virtually ALL my graphics settings or disabling some completely.  Have a decent system, a 7800x3D, 64 Gb of DDR5 memory and a 3080ti.  Appreciate the gpu only has 12 Gb vram but have many settings on Medium when using the Fenix A320.

I do not use nVidia App so it is not optimising the sim and AutoFPS has "Auto Reduce Settings" disabled.

Am I missing a setting to disable these changes in SU2 Beta as its very frustrating.

ok, because I've noticed during this Beta the game likes to turn that setting On even though I always have it Off. I've not noticed any other settings changing though.

I have just checked and it is definitely off.  Just restarted a flight and gpu exceed error popped up again and boom it reset my settings all back to low.  AutoFPS latest test version has options to reduce settings but they are all disabled.  Will test with that app not running.  If settings remain unchanged then I will comment in the Autofps thread as this is driving me nuts

This is interesting, beicause I hadn't noticed settings changing by themselves ever, except after a msfs update. But now we know that it can happen. wow.

Do you have the Nvidia app?  Could that be "optimizing?"  If not I would look at AutoFPS

As stated in my original post I do not have the nvidia app installed.

I have just carried out a few tests.  Did NOT have AutoFPS app running, triggered a GPU warning and all graphics settings remained as I had set them.  I had bumped stuff up to Ultra as a test to push the system.  Loaded a few times and retested, settings did not change.  Ran AutoFPS and my settings all changed, they are permanent changes (during that sim session). I have disabled the options to reduce the settings in AutoFPS so I do not understand why it is still doing it?  @ResetXPDR any thoughts?  Currently in the RC version but noticed this happen within the last few days.  Might go back to stable version and test

Answered here:

In short, the latest AutoFPS version will reduce settings, regardless of whether you have it enabled or not, if GPU-Z is also running and your VRAM is about to overflow into system memory, to avert a massive FPS drop or CTD.

I can add a config line to disable this feature if you really want, but that's the equivalent of removing seat belts from a car because they are uncomfortable to wear. When you have a crash, you really wish you didn't do that!

Yeah, that happened to me too. I never had that setting ON and this latest beta turned it ON. I noticed it when I was changing other setting and turned it off again. Other beta versions didn't do that.
