I have it and when it runs, It is fantastic! But It does not get along with my mother board being it is 4 years old PCIe 3.0 and the card is 5.0 PCIe

Starting the upgrade process.......

For a bit more $, the 5070 is a much better option even with less vram.

This going to be the problem going forward, you need to be running the latest hardware to get the best performance from the hardware you purchase in future.

I'm considering the same GPU (5060Ti, 16GB), but I come from a 3060Ti with 8GB. With an 5700X3D, 32 GB RAM, and a 1080p monitor, will this change be worthwhile? I understand raw performance would be similar, but there is double the VRAM. This is for MSFS (both 2020 and 2024) and P3Dv5.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX3060 Ti 8GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120 Hz (G-sync compatible, but disabled), Windows 11 (at last!). Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, XP11, MSFS2020 and even FS9. Installing and setting up MSFS2024.

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there for airliner ops. FSX-SE also installed, just in case. Lossless Scaling in al my rigs. What a godsend...

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/travel.

At the moment, I'm using a 14700k, 64GB RAM and a RTX4070 (12 GB).

MSFS2024 needs a lot of VRAM, so the question is, if an upgrade to the 5060ti would make sense in 4k resolution.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much!

From a 4070? I'm not sure it's an upgrade. And I'm not even sure if a 5060 Ti can do 4K reliably. As you can see above, I'm considering this one for just 1080p.

That's the question - is VRAM more important than the GPU-power...?

Thanks!

Until you run out, no.

4070 Isn't an option, as I don't want to upgrade my PSU.  I'm ordering/building a new system, within the next year or so, so a 5060ti 16mb, is the max I'm willing to spend on my current system.

That said, anyone running one successfully in 2024?
