Is my Scenery Order wrong?

Featured Replies

I'm seeing some odd forest patterns using simheaven and usa + xp map enhancement

Can someone make sure this order looks okay?

The order is fine; it’s likely just bad data in OpenStreetMap, where someone has overlaid or imported a national park as forest, and it’s been interpreted literally. You’ll see this quite often in Canada, as the import of CanVec data is patchy and still incomplete. The square boxes are usually a sign of this.

Your two entries

SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/z_KCLE MESH - JSD/
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/z_KMJX MESH - JSD/

These will override the autoortho scenery around these airports, but you may have no choice on this if they've adjusted the mesh in the area

I don't know if it will solve your problems but global forest V2 works very well for me in the areas I know.

I recently noticed the same pattern(s).  I only fly in North America and have X-World America installed.  I do not use ortho or other map enhancements.

The funny thing with this pattern, it just showed up once forest vegetation came to life at the call of Spring.  I have Global Forest v2 installed but currently disabled as it is rather performance heavy on my meager system.  I will try enabling it and see what the difference is.  Unfortunately, I may not be able to run this test for a few days.  I will report back if you haven't already found a solution.

Clear skies!

Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

Ryan, I was able to get a short flight in with World Vegetation 2 active and the pattern was not noticeable.  I think WV2 offers much better overall tree placement as well as better textures/tree selection appropriate for the region.  I did not notice too much of a performance impact this time, at least in the JF Arrow II.  I am going to leave WV2 active until any issues with performance force me to do otherwise.  Hope you consider WV2.

Clear skies.

Typo in my above post - should be JF Arrow III, not II.  For some reason, I don't have the edit option available in my post above.  Do we lose this option after so many hours?

Clear skies!

Since X-America's vegatation data is rather bad due to a lack of good sources, Global Forests v2 is a worthwile investment.

I did end up purchasing Global Forests v2 - it's WELL WORTH IT!  I fly mostly USA/Canada - here's a similar area comparison between KBLU and A30 airports

The original for reference

And after adding the Orbx product - obviously not the exact area but a very similar area that previously looked like the above photo....  night and day difference.  It's not perfect but it's a massive improvement for about 15 USD.  An easy buy.

Thank you for the comparison @ryanbatc !

I'll try to use that area for my comparison tests too, and this turn around even add Lossless Scaling to the party 🙂
