Hey guys so I purchased a 5080 

And i am a first time user of frame gen

I enabled in sim with dx12

And vsync off

When i enter sim it freezes.

Any suggestions?

And also since it's 16gb vram what settings should i back off from ultra in 2020?

With a 5090 and 16gb VRAM you shouldn't have to back off anything.  I'd suggest there's something in your machine that's causing the problem.

Do i simply just turn on frame gen and dx12?

Do you have HAGS enabled in windows graphic settings? You need it enabled to use FG.

Yes hags is enabled

But when i load at airport aim freezes.

You're using 576.40 driver?

The lates drivers gave me a lot of headaches, and performance loss in FS2024, including freezing.

I suggest you try 572.83, very stable and great performance, also with my 5070 I have everything in Ultra with the exception of TEXTURE RESOLUTION which I left ii High, disable Fauna, this one is a fps killer.

I've also just acquired a 5080 and experienced similar freezes when I attempted to set the frame gen multiplier in MS 2024 to anything higher than the default of 2X (HAGS turned on FrameGen enabled, etc.) regardless of whether I turned down the other settings as many have suggested. I was able to get the benefits of DLSS and the 50 series cards by setting the frame gen to 4X in the Nvidia App/Graphics/Program Settings and letting the Nvidia app optimize the flight simulator settings and then manually adjust some values in the sim itself. I'm using the latest 576.40 driver. I find I still have to use Auto_FPS and the demanding third party airports but I'm still tweaking my TLOD and OLOD settings.

Nvidia app not installed as it's complete garbage.

Nvidia wants thousands for their GPU

Yet cannot produce stable drivers

But i must say coming from a 3080 to 5080 everything on ultra except texture resolution and clouds to high even thou I could run on ultra. The clouds look better at high in my opinion.

So i cannot figure this out

I have the latest driver for my 5080

My refresh rate is 60hz

Vsync off

Frame gen on

 

And sim freezes

What am i doing wrong?

I find the in sim fg x2 is great, but x3 and x4 causes what you are experiencing. When I need fg x3, I use the nvidia app to override fg and use preset k.
