FSR leave a white line down the right side of my screens on ultra, below that the graphics don't look all that great. So FSR is a no go for my 4090's.

Already “said” … 5090 15% improvement when you turn the image degrading options OFF.  Too bad XP12 doesn’t support SSAA natively, but I did experiment with nV control panel and “I think” I got SSAA working … obviously less of an FPS hit with MSAA in XP12.

It’s a matter of image quality over FPS, but not both.  I’m surprised more reviewers of the 5090 haven’t dived into high SSAA (no DLSS and no Frame Gen, etc) benchmark results … maybe just a case of not wanting to swallow one’s pride?  Some of the 5090 reviews I’ve seen and the reviewer is drooling over the card like it’s some sort of prize to be worshipped … it’s kinda weird.  I have not seen a single review where the 5090 is run with DLSS Off, frame gen off, and high level of SSAA applied? 

I can’t establish another users value, entirely subjective, but for me personally the 5090 value for 15% increase in FPS (without resorting to image degradation) was just not there.  (this is 15% over AMD 9070XT OC -3300-3400Mhz).

But if DLSS and frame gen and RT are your thing, then 5090 does deliver.

Because that us what Nvidia is demanding from reviewers. Not actual performance,  but the push for "fake frames". Which is what all the fuss is about.

And when have these sims ever marched lock-step performance-wise? Probably never. Does XP "benefit" from the same 15%? Or have you not bothered to test it?

Like that 15% over what. If you have 100FPS thats an extra 15 if you have 40 FPS thats what.. like 6 extra FPS and how much are you paying for that lousy extra 6 FPS. Its become worse than the cost of printer ink.

I’ll get some video up this weekend so you can see settings and performance overlays during flight.  (of MSFS 2020, 2024, XP12).  Like I said, no native SSAA support in XP12 so I have to resort to nV control panel and set specific to exe and I’m not entirely sure that’s a valid Apples to Apples.  In XP12, I’m  having issues getting the overlay to show in my recordings, but log files are good … need to tweak RTSS some.

Like I said, 15% over 9070XT OC running at 3300-3400Mhz.   I have a thermal imaging device so I’ll include that on my power connectors as I’m very worried about running at 600Watts with SSAA.  DLSS and frame gen drops the watts usage considerably (by about 50%).

I guess I should be happy my 5090 has all 176 ROPS?

But what is the FPS, 15% means little. Users pnly care about frames. Preferably real ones.

Does that even work? I thought most of those options were redundant when using Vulkan or DX12? 

Isn't SSAA just rendering the view at a higher resolution and then downscaling the resulting frame? Just set a custom resolution in XP and run it fullscreen? e.g. turn off all AA and manually set a 4k resolution for one's 1080p monitor?

Only just coming in stock prices will fall even more over the next few months, due to a lot of gamers not upgrading. Both AMD and Nvidia are in danger of have unsold stock on their hands.
