Yes, you need to run the VFS system to see the CFG files for Standard Version planes 🤣 i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

The Cessna 404 is supposed to be in the Deluxe Edition of MSFS 2024, which would mean it's encrypted because it's not a Standard Version plane. It's interesting that using the VFS system, we're able to view the files of the Cessna 404, despite the fact that it's actually encrypted (I don't have the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe version of MSFS 2024, I just have the Standard Version of MSFS 2024). Create a new package in your Community folder, naming it "aaa-my-package-whatever" or "zzz-my-package-somethingelse" depending on sim. 2. Copy the file you intend to override into this folder, recreating the exact path where the file resides (starting from the source package) 3. Copy the layout.json and manifest.json from the source package to yours 4. Edit the manifest.json (using any text editor of your choice) and replace the author's data with your own. 5. Edit the layout.json, remove all file references except the one that you want to override. 6. Theoretically you should also update the size in bytes for the file and in the manifest.json for the whole package. But in most cases it will work anyway. For my own use I made a small tool that reads the contents of the package and then creates the json files accordingly. Nobody wants to hear this but I will mention it anyway: Be mindful that in most cases you will be violating the end use license. Every EULA on this planet has a section in it that says "no decompile - no alteration". If you do this, do it for yourself. Don't share the results on public outlets. Or at least ask the developer first. Where can I get the manifest and layout json files from planes that don't have them? That is how the MSFS package system works, the layout file tells the sim what files belong to the package, and the manifest tells the sim to load them as an addon (and who made the package, and what else is required to run the package). I have yet to see a package that hasn't got them? Edit: You could use the files from any other package too (=another aircraft package) and just alter them accordingly. I am lazy, so I made a tool that does that for me, but it is not really a problem to do it in any text editor. Edited May 22, 20251 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
May 22, 20251 yr There are also tools that will build the json files for you from scratch e.g. https://github.com/HughesMDflyer4/MSFSLayoutGenerator ...

Bert is back home, and as of SU2, the priority order appears to be the same as before. Within the Community folder, zz wins out over aa. However, the content from the Official2020/OneStore folder is no longer recognized, so the files in that folder need to move to the Community folder. Edited May 30, 20251 yr by Bert Pieke Bert
