I found the MSFS scenery editor extemely complex and convoluted, but WED is just the opposite. You can have your scenery in the sim in just a click or two! I followed numerous video tutorials for MSFS and I still have yet to create a successful scenery. I have KIAD and they did not place any parking at the Signature FBO. Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11
May 30, 20251 yr Sorry, but I've never tried that. I'll look later today and report back. Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force, Retired Former T-33A Crew Chief Former B-1B Crew Chief / Flightline Maintenance Expediter Former Learjet Corp. Quality Inspector Formerly Young (😩)

Perhaps I will take a look at the editor in the future.😉 Patric

You should be able to do this - and if you don´t redistribute the payware airport, you should be able to do to it whatever you want. To open an airport in WED, you need the "wed work-file", usually it is called "earth.xml", this is what WED can read (but X-Plane can´t). When you are done working on your airport, you click on "export airport", this creates the files that X-Plane can read (but WED can´t). So payware devs usually DELETE this .xml file when they are done, because it is fairly big and also they don´t see why people would need to open their airports. There is one workaround, though. You can fire up WED and use the FILE/ADVANCED menu point and then click IMPORT SCENERY. This will make WED import the apt.dat and relevant .dsf files (the ones that X-Plane normally reads) and you can start editing your airport in WED.

I have only worked on default airports which you just download from the Scenery Gateway. I just tried as you suggested and it works, although I had to zoom the map out and go find the airport myself. This was easy, though, so not a big deal. Hope this works for you Flic1 Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force, Retired Former T-33A Crew Chief Former B-1B Crew Chief / Flightline Maintenance Expediter Former Learjet Corp. You need to make sure wed is pointed to correct folder. Create new folder with name. I usually use fact- capetown. Open folder than you should have option to import from gateway. You must save than export to last xp12ver for it to show.
May 31, 20251 yr Right - in the FILE menu you need to use the CHOOSE X-PLANE FOLDER option to let WED know where X-Plane 12 is located. It will then list all the scenery it can find in the /Custom Scenery folder, your payware airport should be there. Then you click that, hit OPEN SCENERY PACKAGE and then - after you are greeted with an empty window, go through the import scenery process.
