Not knocking this, it looks good, but just a note to addons-linker users that AL has an option to do this if you're already using AL.

Definitely here on version 0.26.9136.25367. Maybe @Bad_T (Addons Linker author) can advise?

I see it under tools in the FS2024 version 0.27.9222.36936 of Addons Linker.
I don't see it under tools in the FS2020 version 0.27.9222.36934 of Addons. Linker

What is the best way to check for the latest versions of Addons Linker? I don't see an Addons Linker  "Check for Updates" type of option.

Thanks,

Al

I got wrong version used. Now i can see the editor. Cool feature!

Hello, 🍻

The content.xml editor is currently only available in AL2024 because with MSFS2020 SUx (can't remember exaclty which one it was) the content.xml file was removed (not always present) on v2020. It used to be like in v2024 where you could disable stuff and the option was there in AL2020 (there is even a screen on the AL main page showing that screen in AL2020) but after that SU some people were not even having a content.xml file anymore and for example on my machine it contains only 2 entries (navigraph) and it's just used to give priorities to some addon but it does not contain all addons anymore with the possibility to enable/disable addons.

my full content.xml in MSFS2020 look like this (before SUx it was very similar to what we have now in 2024, it contained all addons with an 'enable/disable' value).

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<Priorities>
  <Package name="navigraph-navdata-base" priority="1"/>
  <Package name="navigraph-navdata" priority="2"/>
</Priorities>

so yeah, to keep it short (not my speciality 🙊) it was removed from AL2020 because i thought it was not needed anymore, but that was just my own understanding which might be wrong 😱

yep the tool does not connect to the internet, the latest version is always visible on the main AL page on the FS.TO, currently it's 0.29.x

OK, thanks. When I download an update and run the installer will all my existing AL files that I have setup be preserved?

Yes the update process should be very simple, it's not even an installer, you just extract the files contained in the new zip over you old ones and replace them. All the settings will be kept (the settings are stored in another folder  inside 'c:\program data')
