SAVE/RELOAD a flight: two steps forward and one back, why?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'd like to know your opinion on the ability to save and resume a flight, a feature that apparently doesn't exist in FS2024, or is at least somewhat complicated.

In my opinion, it's quite inconceivable that FS2024 doesn't have the ability to save and reload a flight by default, in a straightforward and simple way like previous versions: a simple menu with SAVE FLIGHT/LOAD FLIGHT, do you remember? This should be the basic, as decades of flight simulation experience have taught us. All previous versions of Flight Simulator, as far back as 2000, have had the ability to save and resume a flight. I say this is not only for reasons related to a possible CTD, but also because (at least in my case) you don't spend 10-12 hours in front of a computer in flight. To give a simple example: I also like to meticulously plan and fine-tune all onboard systems, and I spend at least 40-50 minutes before takeoff. In short, I'd like to be able to complete a flight with complete peace of mind, and I'd like to be able to do it in multiple phases with my favorite aircraft, the PMDG 777 and the Fenix A320.
I believe this is a truly fundamental and basic feature, and I don't understand why it hasn't been implemented.

Sincerely what do you think? I'd love to hear your perspective and understand how I can convey this need of mine (and hopefully yours, too) to ASOBO.

I believe that it has to do with the fact that in older versions everything including the world was stored and generated from your personal computer. In these recent versions, the world does not stop when you do, so reloading is going to occur at the current time.

There would probably have to be a provision to store all of the day/time/weather data current at time of saving, and all of the same that occurs in the future for the length of your flight.

Wow, I have to admit that I never used this replay feature as I assumed it to be even more buggy than the rest of FS. 🤔

Save reload is entirely possible and works really well .the button is not in 2024 why no idea . Generally  I find most simmers hate save and restore so for those who don't I will continue . Fsr replay in sim is great and I use it a lot .no panel or sim state save . For best results buy flightsave by rksoftware in simmarket .go to his forum and download latest version or saves will restore in the sea. For fenix lovers forget it software developer. Cannot be bothered and most inbuilds aircraft don't save properly . I have tested pmdg leonardo and flights labs all restore fine. Supposedly a350 by inibuild doed work not tested.

Thanks so much, it's a shame it doesn't work in fenix.

This was one of my first complaints when FS2024 came out, no save. Inexcusable IMO.

Even for me, why fs9/fsx can and Fs20/24 no?

Because this is no longer a single play experience. It’s a MMO, and the world state is not saved or generated from your PC.

is it possible? I’m sure they could do it if they wanted, but clearly it’s a lot more complex than just saving like in the old school single player days.
