August 20, 2025Aug 20 Just giving a thumbs-up 👍 to the new NVIDIA (581.08) driver for the Fluid Motion ability in RTX-40 series cards. Installed this driver today, applied the standard settings I use with X-Plane and clicked the Fluid Motion toggle as a test. Now to back up a little, I have been using Lossless Scaling for quite some time now, which is still a good option, but wanted to test the new FM facility in this driver. Started the normal items first, XPME, RivaTuner 1/2 Refresh, OpenTrack, then ran XP12 with VFA Piper. Steady FPS the whole time and absolutely less lag than LS. I plan on testing it some more on other games to see if it's a placebo but so far 👍👍.. August 21, 2025Aug 21 I just tested smooth motion with my 4090 and I have to say I'm impressed, it's much better than lossless scaling. The artifacts are very minimal and you can hardly feel any stuttering. Hats off to NVIDIA.
August 21, 2025Aug 21 Hi do you need the Nvidia app to use the FM or the just the classic NV control panel? Alexander Colka

According to AI Yes, to use Nvidia's Smooth Motion (Frame Generation) feature, you need the Nvidia app and a GeForce RTX 40 series GPU (or potentially later). While early access to this feature was through a developer driver and Nvidia Profile Inspector, it's now integrated into the standard Nvidia app, according to PC Gamer. I think you do and up to this point I never installed it. But it works now so give it a shot. You can disable most of its annoyances in the settings too. 🤠👍🏻 Regards,Pivoti9-10900k * 64Gb Ram * MSI RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio * Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless Headset * Win11 Home x64 * Beam ET * TM Warthog Combo, Honeycomb Alpha & Saitek Pro-Rudders
August 21, 2025Aug 21 I did try smooth motion but noticed some flickering to the street lights at dusk. Over 100fps most times is nice though 😁 CPU Ryzen 7800X 3D RAM 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz GPU GEFORCE RTX 4090 Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440 Internal Storage 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD External Storage Three 4Tb HDs
August 23, 2025Aug 23 Hi, Two questions with the new drivers. 1. does one have to run the game from the Nvidia app or can I just run a shortcut to XP12? 2. Can I also use Invidia inspector with the Nvidia app to configure some settings. August 23, 2025Aug 23 Quite amazing using smooth motion. Every setting on maximum except MSAA on 4x and no RCAS (use NVidia sharpening). Getting up to 140fps with minimal artifacts with the CIS Piper Seneca. One thing I have found between LS & FM, X-Plane seems to be the only program that FM works better for. I still use LS for MSFS, ATS and a few other games, where I found the FM to be a little less smooth. But for XP, it works fine.. August 24, 2025Aug 24 I assume these improvements coming from the new driver do not apply to VR users ???

Not sure what effects the FM has on this. Can't hurt to try though. 🤠👍 Regards,Pivoti9-10900k * 64Gb Ram * MSI RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio * Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless Headset * Win11 Home x64 * Beam ET * TM Warthog Combo, Honeycomb Alpha & Saitek Pro-Rudders
