August 21, 2025Aug 21 So, as life does, it pulled me away again so I watched FS2024 happen from a distance and JUST got back to having free time again. I basically wiped FS2020 and started a bit fresh other than the Aerosoft CRJ which I updated to the v2.1 version which is current. However, I've run into a couple of odd challenges. One I feel like is FS2024 and the other the CRJ (and likely both ME doing something idiotically wrong): 1. Is there no way to tell the sim to spawn the CRJ (or any plane) fully cold and dark any longer? I know the PLANE has that as a State you can set, but it doesn't seem to set that as a sticky option and the next load, there I am outside the plane and the beacon's going, the engines are hot, etc. Tons of search suggest there is a setting during setup of the flight to set this, but I'll be damned if I see it. 2. Anyone with any knowledge of the CRJ, something changed and my checklist doesn't seem to work any longer. The APU SOV panel will not open when you hit the APU Power button (even if you wait the general 10 seconds). Nor will ground power work. So, for now, I'm keeping busy with MobiFlight and my hardware getting it all back up to speed, but I'll be wanting to get back in the air ASAP! hehe ANY help greatly appreciated, even if it's to tell me I'm out of luck. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. August 24, 2025Aug 24 I don't fly the CRJ but I do own it, and have updated it, do you start at a gate, not a runway? Plane always starts completely cold and dark for me, I'm guessing its a CRJ config thing but I actually don't know where/what it is, I ALWAYS start cold and dark. Hmmm, also if you are starting with engines running why are you messing with the APU?? Keep at it, I'm sure you'll find it eventually, good luck! Jack F. Vogel, Delta Virtual Airlines
August 24, 2025Aug 24 This is the best video you will find to fly the CRJ. A little old and a lot has changed with the last updates but it will more than get you going. https://youtu.be/dKUEnLB-F70?si=MZxfrezjFKW783Qr Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
August 24, 2025Aug 24 Odd that your panel state won't save. Mine does. Also I don't have any trouble with starting the APU. I did however stumble on the changed starting logic of the engines. You now have to press the start buttons and hold them until they light up. Just letting you know in advance when you progress past your APU problems.
August 24, 2025Aug 24 Author I've gotten to the bottom of most of this: 1. The cold and dark thing was 99% me due to the layoff. I saw the first button in the CRJ EFB Options for "STATE" being Cold & Dark and stopped looking at that point as the rest of the buttons look entirely the same. The bottom one is, of course, DEFAULT STATE. Once I set that to Cold & Dark, that problem was solved. 2. The left engine issue, it turns out, is some goofy "Bravo Throttle Quadrant 2024 Planes" that I don't seem to be able to delete, that has some conflict in it. If it's selected, the engine will not fire-up. Move off that profile and it works. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.

From everything I found out, third-party aircraft primarily need to provide their own means for making that work. That's the case with the CRJ, for example. It's in the EFB and that's it. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.

Hmm I think he's right, by default every plane including third-party starts cold n dark if you start at non-runway position. The caveat is some planes like the CRJ have advanced state-saving features: The difference is the CRJ. Whatever is set in its EFB as default state, will override 2024's default behavior to the best of my knowledge and memory. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
