August 25, 2025Aug 25 I am looking for a new pair of speakers that have good dynamic range (bass/treble/tweet etc) that eliminate the need for a dedicated subwoofer, and are in the £50-£60 price range. What would be my best options to replace the Creative Inspire T3100 speakers/subwoofer that I have been using since the dawn of time? EDIT: Oh, and the quality needs to be at least as good for my flight simulation requirements as those Creative speakers from yesteryear. August 25, 2025Aug 25 I'm not sure you are going to be able to eliminate a sub and be satisfied with the lack of low end. Particularly when airplanes emit so much tone in that end of the spectrum. I ended up searching long and hard to replace my speakers. I specifically was not interested in surround sound. I landed on these old but good ones. https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO?th=1 Higher than your price. But if you are anything like me I can't tell you how many purchases I've made just to save money only to have to eventually redo the purchase the way I should have the first time. August 25, 2025Aug 25 Author I have been considering these, but I am no expert on speaker quality..... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DCVTCWND/ref=twister_B0FH2VSXLV?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 I have not really been using a lot of bass with my current speakers because it was inducing a resonance effect with my PMDG 737 at certain engine power settings that was annoying me! August 25, 2025Aug 25 There is nothing more immersive than a surround system with a subwoofer, two front and two back speakers for flightsim. If the sound is all around you and your visuals are 'large' you are almost there :-). I have been using Logitech surround system for years and I am very happy with it!....
August 25, 2025Aug 25 4 hours ago, Christopher Low said: I have been considering these, but I am no expert on speaker quality..... Not a chance of any good low frequency from a 3” driver + 60W total. At that price point, I’d look for used speakers … KRK 5” … I got some Kali + a PreSonus 8” sub for my gaming rig and it sounds ok (not great, just ok at this price point). Highly recommend you go with an external audio interface (USB) to avoid noise often found in onboard audio (often mistakenly referred to as GPU coil whine). Kali has USB-C support so you can avoid separate audio interface and doesn’t use onboard audio. For room shaking clarity, I use a pair of Genelec 8351B and pair of Genelec 7350A subs along with their GLM module to tune for room position. August 26, 2025Aug 26 Author I assume then that those speakers would not be as good as the Creative Inspire T3100 setup that I currently have? What about these 5" speakers from the same manufacturer? https://www.amazon.co.uk/AZATOM-M5-Bookshelf-Bluetooth-Enclosure/dp/B0DCKCH6CN/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=3FKH1J15MQE1C&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.kQiRhzTKiNI00NgLKhUwiQ6zI7_8lxUSDqd3G-JTov__QLg7lDdaI57iAsjeyFG6U6cjJBRquSbhT9b--GuG44dMxnmrI_Od03qT27q2NOU37ZpXI9trW8_LNtrJmCj7MDjPgD3KZrJ-WP809cIYX8oadUyVIF_nLuBZxQLNr3-Vk4klGHn3Ams_6irBsbuNyTAMi3Pcpc74mBletXOCETL1PFCaOEaa2GZ0LlZtVI0.NqlWJIJDINTBRRfiP4qUd_I7h5LCKLxe-Yg5OnbD5E4&dib_tag=se&keywords=5"%2Bspeakers&qid=1756195335&sprefix=5%2Bspeaker%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1 Edited August 26, 2025Aug 26 by Christopher Low Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
August 26, 2025Aug 26 The manual spec lists 50Watt per speaker (driving both LF and HF) ... weak for low end frequency ... harder to dampen motion in the speaker to ensure accuracy. 35Hz will not get you the "rumble" (aka feel it). To get rumbling low frequency, you'll want to get below 30Hz ... ultimately 20Hz but that requires a good 10" sub or better. Also, need to get the subs in phase. Room calibration software/hardware is a plus here but can't work miracles if your space doesn't work well with sound waves. They don't support balanced connectivity which helps reduce EMI/RFI. Can't see their price, seem to be Europe only branded unless they are in a different brand name for US customers? Those AZATOM M5 should be better than your T3100. November 8, 2025Nov 8 You’ll not get very good channel separation with a soundbar … but the audio channel shift in MSFS 2024 is unrealistic so the soundbar may actually be a benefit. In MSFS 2024, in a twin, when you turn your view/ head the sound level decrease of the opposite side engine is far too much. Not that it would matter that much as real world you’ll have noise cancelling ear plugs or headphones. But in real world twin, when you turn your head left, the right side engine noise will still be as loud. Having a sub is good also, but needs to be in phase and level set correctly… far too many folks have sub levels way too high.
