October 13, 2025Oct 13 I would like to know how to revert from P3DV5.4 to P3DV5.3. Would I have to reinstall any addons or aircraft from reverting. Are there any P3D files that need to be saved before reverting i.e and settings configuration or other configuration files?
October 13, 2025Oct 13 You'll probably want to backup your Prepar3d.cfg and Controls\Standard.xml before reverting to 5.3. Also, I'd delete Prepar3d.cfg (not before saving a backup) and let P3D generate a new one after reverting. Addons to uninstall/reinstall? I never did so, but this was before the FSL buses were compatible with 5.4. That's the only addon I think may be that picky. I don't know what else to do, apart from all above, and clearing shaders. I guess you're simply uninstalling the 5.4 client and installing the 5.3 one, right? October 14, 2025Oct 14 Moderator When I reverted just under two years ago I uninstalled Scenery, Content then Client. Possibly overkill but I wanted to be sure any remnants of 5.4 had gone. The problems I encountered with 5.4 primarily involving long freezes were entirely eliminated. The culprit was a combination of 5.4 and some unidentified AIG BGL files. I don’t have the FSL Airbus but PMDG aircraft were fine. Perhaps they’re less fussy about product version. Ray (Cheshire, England). October 14, 2025Oct 14 I have tried both. On my system, the freezes are almost certainly caused by scenery loading, as I have tried flying with no AI and it did not change. It made no difference that I could detect whether it was 5.3 or 5.4. Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. October 14, 2025Oct 14 Moderator @IanHarrison, different problem to mine. If you suspect scenery try flying over the suspect area and see if it’s repeatable. Then it’s a process of elimination. 😉 Ray (Cheshire, England). October 15, 2025Oct 15 I was getting many of those freezes when I had issues with my scenery.cfg loading order. I still get them occasionally when I am flying between WA and CA, about 2 to 3 per flight which last upwards of 30 seconds. I have a LOT of scenery for that region: 20 or so airports, ORBX Real Earth and the ORBX PNW sceneries on top of that, every one that they sell in fact. They don't bother me enough to go through the slog of weeding out the conflicts (yet). EDIT Meant to include I am running P3D v5.317 HF and dropped v5.4 a couple of years ago due to poor performance and CTDs. Edited October 15, 2025Oct 15 by SnoBrit
