What airports do you feel lack quality scenery for Prepar3D?
My wishlist for payware quality airports for P3D5 would be: KSMF, KOAK, KGEG, KBOI, KSTL, KMKE, KMSN, KPIT, KJAX, KDET, KFAT and KPVU to name a few..

Coolsky DC-9 Classic - Loading flight plans
Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 aircraft had no .ini file in their respective Simobjects\Airplanes\... folders. The Pro had an .ini file but no entry for fms_flightplan_path=C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files I found an [FMS} section in this .ini file and placed the above entry into it but had no luck. Still get "Error loading CO Route" on the FMS when putting KPDXKSLC into the CO Route field. so I am unsure what "[Section]" this entry would go under. None of the sections seem appropriate. One forum post said there should be an [ACARS] section where there should be an entry like: [ACARS] acars_flightplan_path=C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files I tried this and no luck. I also saw forums posts that said the flight plan needed to be in FSX format, which I am using based on FSBuild. Other posts said the flight plan name needed to be like Departure_IATA-Arrival_IATA.PLN so PDX-SLC.PLN whereas others said Departure_ICAO Arrival_ICAO.PLN with no space between the two, such as you would use with the PMGD line. No matter what I tried I could not get any of the 3 aircraft to load the route. Can you tell me what the respective section name should be in the .ini files? I also tried putting the flight plans into C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Prepar3d v4 Files and that didn't work either.

Aerosoft Airbus Professional turning off during flight
The Aerosoft Airbus aircraft for P3D5 are the most unreliable quirky randomly failing aircraft I have ever tried to use. I can't use them with any Add-ons that evaluate performance and pilotage since I will get trashed in my scores when the thing goes haywire in whatever phase of flight it feels like doing it in. Today I was flying the A321 and suddenly 2 hrs into cruise it decided to throttle back to idle in an attempt to stall or crash, who know. I was luckily watching over it and was able to intervene. Crazy. Waste of money.

Adjust Departure runway after ATIS Info

Coolsky DC-9 Classic - Loading flight plans
I just picked up the Ultimate Airliners MD-80 and DC-9 megapack from Flight1. The graphics are exactly as they were in FSX (Surprise!) but the planes are still a joy to fly and the AP is very responsive. yet I have a problem loading in a flight plan so I have been forced to navigate using HDG and can't use NAV, which is annoying at best. To make things worse, Coolsky support is no longer offered on their "Legacy" products so I thought I would ask here in case anyone owns and flies these planes. Details: I followed the instructions in the DC-9 Classic Flight Center to load a flight plan: 1) Enter Departure ICAO (KSEA) 2) Enter Destination ICAO (KSLC) 3) Enter Flight Number (220) Name flight plan file as DEP-DEST-Flight#.pln (in my case KSEA-KSLC-220.pln) Then Hit ENT on PMS to load plan. I Always get the error "Route import incomplete." I searched the Coolsky forums relentlessly and there were only 2 posts I could find that had anything to do with flight plans. One Coolsky forum post claimed the Navdata for the DC9 was old and so I just used long existing VORs for my flight plan, no GPS waypoints (YKM, PDT, BOI, TWF, OGD) to test that theory and got the same outcome. One post asked where the flight plan should be placed and the reply from support was "in the same folder where P3D looks for plans" so I put it there and got the same result. Note: There are no Flight1 folders that were created during install that would be used for flight plans. I created a couple and tried copying the plan there but no luck, e.g., Documents\Prepar3D5 v6 Files\Flight1\flightplans Any ideas?

Problem With "Slew" Function
You could always get something from https://carenado.com - I think they have all of the light GA aircraft from Cessna. I own all of what they sell for P3D and they vary from ok/tolerable to great. The Cessna 172RG 317H are 2 of my favorites.

Adjust Departure runway after ATIS Info
You submit a flight plan which includes a departure runway, when setting up RC, but when you listen to ATIS before asking for clearance, it might tell you the active runway is in the opposite direction from that referenced in your flight plan. Q: How, once I have asked for clearance, can I get RC to give taxi instructions to the active runway, as opposed to that which is referenced in my flight plan?

Reducing lower range for View Zoom in P3D5.31
Not at all. This is 0.30 zoom across 78" of my spanned monitors: https://imgur.com/a/4GGkwdl Note: I tried to use the "Insert Image from URL" feature in my post and it was unresponsive when attempting to submit the link.

Reducing lower range for View Zoom in P3D5.31
Hello, Even though I use a pair of 39" curved monitors each with a 2560x1080 resolution setting, I don't use P3D's Wide-Angle monitor option because it creates a flattened image where buildings and scenery are squeezed down to a flatter ratio which looks unrealistic. The problem with that is my external and cockpit view ranges seem much more limited where I can't for instance zoom out in the cockpit to see the entire console in a PMDG 737 or any other airliner. While I can still pan around to see everything, that can make things tough when, for instance, you are turning off the taxiway and want to switch off the takeoff lights, because panning to see the switches you lose visibility to where you're going! Does anyone know how to change the lower limit on the zoom range available in virtual cockpit and chase plan views? Right now the range is 0.30 to 512. I would love to get the lower limit able to go to .05 zoom.

FC Scenery update....
RE:"and its crawling at 1 KB per second." If you're transferring to a USB drive, make sure you're plugging into a USB4 port (v2 is best) if you have one, or if you don't, USB-C at a minimum. USB-A or B will crawl slower than a slug.

REX Sky Force 3D / P3D (V 5.3)
Hello Hammer88, I have not tried to change those things through REX and wasn't aware you could do that. Let me give it a lookC and if I can make it happen I will let you know and we can converse offline.

Prepar3D v5.4 weird stutters after reinstalling
I agree with Ray. Performance is great and CTD's are very rare and avoidable. (Mucking wtth scenery and graphics settings during flight and repeatedly reloading complex aircraft can do it).

Orbx NA + TrueEarth = Long Stutters in P3D v5.31
Hardware: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.9 GB usable) Storage 1.82 TB SSD WDS200T3XHC-00SJG0, 1.82 TB SSD MKNSSDPE2TB-D8 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (10 GB) For me, using ORBX TE without the PNW sceneries works well with any aircraft and P3D settings in the high range. Flying the PMDG 747-400ER for instance, I see constant 30-60fps using unlimited frame settings. IMHO Flight simulation without study level systems is simply not worth doing apart from light aircraft VFR flight (still, using Carenado and other payware.) I am also using RC4, APL,Passenger2X, FS Captain, WWV ACARS, REX Skyforce and AIG AI traffic on all of my flights. I finally got fed up with AH2 crashes and quit using that one.

Orbx NA + TrueEarth = Long Stutters in P3D v5.31
I've always used ORBX NA sceneries PNW, NORCAL, SOCAL and one day last year I decided to try the True Earth sceneries: US Washington, US Florida, Norcal and Socal. I added them on top of the NA sceneries because the installer said it would work fine, with the only issues being Autogen. The results were AMAZING. What I didn't catch on to was that this was the beginning of occasional long pauses lasting 10-30 seconds whenever I flew near the US West Coast. I fought with those pauses for a long time without success. About a week ago it dawned on me that there was an obvious correlation between pause locations and ORBX sceneries, so I uninstalled the ORBX NA sceneries and kept the ORBX True Earth versions in place. After 1 week I can confidently say those long pauses are now GONE. I still get shorter pauses (5-10 sec) up close to both JFK and BOS but that's a whole new scenery soup up there to figure out. YMMV.

REX Sky Force 3D / P3D (V 5.3)
You should be ok with your current settings but make sure you have installed the cloud theme you have built by choosing the cloud types you want in REX. Then switch the weather themes ein P3D to "REX Weather Sync" if you want the clouds matching your local weather or create your own P3D weather theme using "Custom". Make sure you have REX settings configured to inject weather if you're using the REX Weather Sync theme in P3d. Go To REX Axis to get support if you need more help : https://rexaxis.com/ Note: REX is no longer selling, creating or updating products for P3D.

REX Sky Force 3D / P3D (V 5.3)
Hello Hammer88. I also use P3Dv5.31 and have REX Sky Force 3D installed and running. I read your post and thought I would test whether changing the cloud textures on the fly would work and change the clouds in the SIM as I sat at the airport. Seconds after changing my cloud textures they changed in the simulator, while having "Major Thunderstorms" weather setting enabled in the sim. So it worked. I normally use Clear Skies when trying to conserve GPU memory on long hauls in complex AC but REX has always performed well for me when I do use it. Questions for you: 1) Are you using "Enhanced Atmospherics" in the WORLD configuration in P3D? 2) Do you have the Volumetric Clouds at Medium or above? My 9GB 3080TI can only handle Medium. High makes it crash. 3) What weather setting are you using in P3D? Did you try your tests using "Custom"?

New voices
Hello Ian, sorry I forgot to provide feedback on your advice. I did install per instructions and using the MCE Lorna V4 voice checked under Co-Pilot voice selection but the co-pilot voice talking to controllers is still a male voice. Id dawned on me that since RC4 isnt handling FO coms automatically, that maybe I needed to instead enable that voice to Pilot voices. I've done that now and am going to try it again. I also cannot figure out for the life of me how to set up RC4 to have my co-pilot handle the communications with controller automatically so that I don't have to baby-sit the flight closely. Thank you for your help!

My longest ever flight. Tokyo to London via Alaska!
Sounds like fun, Ray, but don't you have to sit at the computer the whole time to attend to RC4's instructions? Those controllers can get a bit testy when you don't answer their calls promptly 🙂 That's why I only use RC4 for shorter flights. The longest one I ever did was VHHH to KJFK. I think it was using the PMDG 777X and I had to go light on the cargo load 🙂

Reverting from P3DV5.4 to P3DV5.3
I was getting many of those freezes when I had issues with my scenery.cfg loading order. I still get them occasionally when I am flying between WA and CA, about 2 to 3 per flight which last upwards of 30 seconds. I have a LOT of scenery for that region: 20 or so airports, ORBX Real Earth and the ORBX PNW sceneries on top of that, every one that they sell in fact. They don't bother me enough to go through the slog of weeding out the conflicts (yet). EDIT Meant to include I am running P3D v5.317 HF and dropped v5.4 a couple of years ago due to poor performance and CTDs.

I'm getting a new system on 9/24. How to prepare?
Interesting topic. I recently set up a new PC with P3D5.3 as a second sim machine. I neither deactivated P3D on my existing PC, nor did I deactivate any of my PMDG aircraft before installing those into that new sim instance on my new PC. I had zero issues and can do flights with my PMDG aircraft on my new P3D instance. BUT, I have not attempted to have both P3d instances running simultaneously. I would need to buy another license to feel comfortable doing that and I'm not sure LM still sells v5 licenses. Edit: The install to my other PC was to begin the process of migrating to that much faster machine with my flying. It will likely take 100's of hours of installing aircraft, scenery and utilities before I can finally "use" it, and now that I have most of my scenery issues resolved on my existing P3D install, I'm not motivated to work on that right now.

CYQT Thunder Bay by MSFG
Thinking of purchasing this 4GB scenery for P3D 5.3 - Wondering if anyone has experience with it? It was released in 2023. Current version is v1.1. There are no reviews showing for it on SimMarket. TIA!
