Moving to MSFS2024

Featured Replies

Hi, I would like to move to MSFS2024, but my computer is quite new... I have i9-10900K with RTX 3090. I use loseless scalling to help me with the frame rate issues and normally I have not so much fps problems except when clouds are really very intensive.
Do you think that MSFS2024 still works with those settings and with almost the same performance? I normally use addons for aircrafts and sceneries like fenix, pmdg, orbx, aerosoft, flytampa, flightbeam and so on...
Thanks.

I had a related system when I went from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024. LLS worked with that too. You may have to reduce some settings which were "ultra" in 2020.

Join SU4 beta and you'll be happy with the performance you'll get. I have almost all my settings at ultra.

Not quite the same for me for ALL settings but definetly MANY including clouds. With my meager CPU I cannot turn up the LODs but yet I almost doubled them in SU4 Beta from eg TLOD 80 to 140. still makes a difference.

Broadly, I found that when I switched, High settings in 2024 were about equivilent to Ultra settings in 2020 in terms of the visuals and the level of performance, though I have since purchased an RTX5080 which enables me to run pretty well everything at Ultra now (with 2X native frame gen and DLSS DLAA).

If you switch, it's really going to be a case of trial and error, whether you want to start with high settings and gradually try cranking them up or starting with ultra settings and haveing to crank them down a bit.  There are lots of videos about which settings have the biggest effects on performance that are probably worth watching but everyones system is different and whilst some people (like me) aer happy to trade eye candy for a loss of performance, some want a super smooth sim at the expense of some of the visuals.

As far as eye candy is concerned for me, once you've seen it, it's very hard to unsee it 🙂
