Anyone Using BS Bonanza with Chaseplane?

Featured Replies

For some reason, that is a mystery to me, and I'm still waiting to hear back from A2A, my Comanche is not working properly after installing Chaseplane. Basically, I am unable to initiate a preflight walkaround. I'm concerned a similar issue may be present with the Bonanza, due to the walkaround option. I'm wondering if there is anyone here who is running the new BS Bonanza with Chaseplane with no problems, as I really want to get my hands on this bird today!

I don't have the bonanza yet do I can't give a definite answer, but here's what I do know:

1) CP would turn off the default camera system

2) A2A would use the camera system for its predefined external views in the walkaround

My guess is that for the reasons above you will not get it working with the Bonanza either, or with anything that makes use of the default camera system for that matter.

You can of course circumvent this by setting external views at the same spots using CP so it basically would give the same result. Downside is, that you'll need to bind those views to keys on your keyboard or some other controller.

Ah, I thought this may be the case. Hmm, I would have thought CP would have some means of countering this issue, considering the popularity of A2A and similar aircraft. Regarding the Comanche, it is not possible to simply create a walk around view with CP, this does not work, unless someone knows different. Perhaps I will revisit the issue and try another look at things. If this is the case, then effectively the aircraft is defunct as long as I use CP? If so, then this should be made obvious in the sales material.

What’s the difference between a walk around “ view and your standard external view then?

Unsure, I assume the A2A walkaround view, which is linked to the tablet, is coded differently. Just a guess. I'm about to fire up the sim and just check it out further. EDIT: Nope, just as I thought. It is no longer possible to interract with any of the external preflight, operations. I will open a ticket with Parallel 42.

The native MS2024 interactive points (moving the ailerons, chocks, etc) will not work in 'normal' external view, only walkaround mode.

Howard - I don't have Chaseplane, but does it not have a 'master' command that can be used to temporarily disable it while you use the A2A / BS walkaround features?

I had a similar issue with TrackIR with the earlier A2A planes;  the walkaround view system would not work with TrackIR active.   But as soon as I diabled TrackIR, it worked just fine.

Or does Chaseplane not have such a 'master' feature?

This is what it says on the sale spage:

Works with everything.

Designed to work seamlessly with all aircraft, no custom code required and no need for an app update whenever a new plane is released.

Planes, helicopters, gliders, cars and yes, even space shuttles...it just works.

Hi Bill, hmm, unsure. I'm going to fire up the sim shortly and dive into things a bit deeper. At the moment, as long as Chaseplane is installed, the Comanche is unuseable, unless I start it with engines running. I have contacted the dev over at 42 Parallel, but still waiting on a reply. I'll let you know.

The walkaround does not work with Chaseplane. But that’s probably because A2A is using custom code which is non standard. So IMO it’s not P42 fault that the Comanche doesn’t play ball with Chaseplane.

Can’t you just remove pitot cover, chocks … with the tablet? The plane should start normally once all the static elements are removed.

I use the CP disable option mentioned above when popping up G530/G430 screens for Realsimgear. You can resume CP by again pushing the same screen.

CP does indeed have an option to be toggled on/off, which can of course be a possible solution.

it’s not available (yet) for 2024, so all discussion is relevant for 2020 only.

Thanks guys, all good advice. It took some finding, but the relevent process is squirelled away in the documentation. I will try it later. Here is what the documentation says:

Enabling/Disabling ChasePlane

If you are using a mod that requires the default camera (custom walkaround, pop-out manager, etc.), you have the option to quickly enable/disable ChasePlane. Here are the multiple ways to do so:

Click-hold the ChasePlane icon at the top of the ChasePlane window.

Menu -> Preferences -> Maintenance -> Enable/Disable ChasePlane.

You can assign a key to Enable/Disable ChasePlane (Toggle) in ChasePlane's Control Assignments.

Note that if the default sim assignments have been removed to prevent conflicts with ChasePlane, the camera cannot be controlled once ChasePlane is disabled. We do not recommend using ChasePlane temporarily alongside the default camera system.

Hopefully this should now be OK. Thanks once again for all the advice.

FYI, I have discovered how to sort this out! I already had a button assigned to open the tablet on my Stream Deck, so by assigning the same keyboard shortcut to toggle on/off Chaseplane, it now works a treat! The transition is a bit 'clunky,' but at least I can now go ahead and purchase the Bonanza with the knowledge of knowing what to do with the same walkaround scenario. Thanks again to all for their advice.
