November 9, 2025Nov 9 Not to brag here but have got the samsung odyssey arc - before that I had the samsung 49" odyssey (still use that one for my other system)- both curved - what I found was that the 49" one just didn't have enough vertical height - the ark is simply amazing with the amount of screen real estate available - as for the question re curved screens I just find them so much better than a normal screen - sitting just about a metre from the screen it is like the view from a real cockpit - where the screen ends it's like cabin roof - as for the previous comment about the 5090 stressing out - not had any problems with my 5090 in that regard & thats 55" & 3,840 x 2,160 & it also runs a flat sceen 32" in picture mode where I run little nav map Rattso Cooler Master Cosmos 700M - MSI Godlike X (Devillike!!) - AMDD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (water cooled) - 128gb Corsair Vengeance 5200 D5 - ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Liquid OC GDDR7 32GB - EVGA 2000W P/S - Creative AE-7 - intel Optane 500gb - 3x 2tb M2 SSDs - 2x 2tb Samsung EVO SSDs - 1x Hybrid 2tb HDD - Brunner CLS-63E Joystick - Honeycombe Bravo quadrant - Brunner CLS-B rudder pedals - Samsung Odessey Ark 55" - G9 49" monitor
November 9, 2025Nov 9 Another 34" curved monitor at 3440x1440 here. One benefit I see is that the curve seems to helps reduce glare significantly compared to my 2nd monitor, which is flat. If there is a tiny bit of distortion at the edges I don't notice anything. As to vertical real estate with 1440 res vertically a little more would be nice but i am quite happy with what i have in place. Your mileage may very. If it fits your budget I would recommend having a look at the 49" displays.

November 9, 2025Nov 9 Flight sim setup is on the right side (45” LG 3440 x 1440). Center is the 45” LG 5120 x 2160, left is the Alienware 34” 3440 x 1440. A flex curve monitor I have my eye on for next gen GPUs is this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1770965-REG/lg_42lx3qpua_42_class_flex_oled.html Working with 3840 x 2160 does tend to be a better resolution for external recording devices and YouTube conversion and works well with “the public” … contrary to Steam’s hardware statistics, 4K monitors/TVs are very popular. But if recording is not important, 3440 x 1440 is an excellent resolution for flight simulation. Definitely go OLED. January 24Jan 24 I have a small (buy everyone else's standards here) 27 inch curved monitor (only Full HD standard) but I actually don't want anything larger - that size is absolutely perfect for me and since I mostly fly GA I don't really need a large monitor to capture all the small instruments in a modern jet liner cockpit (the most "complex" air transport aircraft I have are the A2A Constellation and Carenado Fokker F50). The curve on my monitor is 1800R though and that seems to be quite rare / unpopular. Virtually every other monitor I have seen is 1500R or lower (as in even greater curvature). The 1800 curve seems very comfortable to me though - very natural even at the 65 cm distance from my eyes. But I do notice that after a few hours of flight simming, when I come back to my dead flat study monitor, it has a slightly "convex" appearance (so it seems to temporarily curve in the opposite direction) because my brain has adjusted to the curve of the simming screen. The feeling passes soon enough and always has - it is not permanent - it is just my brain adjusting back and fourth and it is not ideal but I sure do not want to stop using a curved monitor - I could never go back to flat again for any 3D applications. But my concern is down the track I would like to get a better 27 inch curved monitor (probably QHD) and all the better ones are universally 1500R. Whilst technically that curve actually makes more sense than 1800R I am worried this "brain aclimatisation" effect will be more pronounced since people who have gone from 1800R to 1500R say the difference is quite noticeable (and some also say they found the 1800R monitor a bit more "relaxing" on the eyes to use). Anyway I am wondering what people's experiences are with that 1500R curvature, especially if they have gone from a previous 1800R.
