Curved Monitors

Featured Replies

I am looking at Curved Monitors for my system. Do any of you have a curved monitors, and how does it work with Ms2024 ??

I have a 34" curved monitor and MSFS2024.

It works like a normal monitor except it's....slightly curved.😉

I use a 49” curved monitor. It was a game changer for me.

Joe Esposito

I have a 49" as well, and it adds so much to the immersion. Highly recommended!

Ryzen 7 7800X3D  -  RTX 5090  -  64gb DDR5  -  Moza AB9 with MH16 Flightstick, MTQ Throttle, Thrustmaster Pendular rudder.

I have a 34" curved Acer Predator.

The advantages are more screen real estate meaning in the cockpit, you have much broader, expansive view of the instruments on the Captains side as well as over to the 2nd officer,  not to mention Captains side window without having to pan the view. The curvature which can vary by monitor, can help a little by not having to turn you head as much but its a minor benefit IMHO.

My monitor is 3440x1440p which is also a good compromise between having higher resolution than a 1080p monitor but not having a 4K monitor which obviously has more pixels/resolution, but requires a much more powerful GPU to run it.

As others mentioned, there's nothing for you to do in MSFS2024. No configuration. The sim will detect the monitor's native resolution.

In my opinion, the curvature on its own is not the major driver for going for this type of monitor, but the other benefits it brings such as resolution and other supporting features that a wide screen monitor brings such as VRR, HDR, etc.

Depending on your personal preference, Samsung's curved monitors has a higher curvature of 180 degrees to 190 degrees, do take your pick!

Yes, I have a Gigabyte M32UC curved monitor, and have used it for about 2 years.  I love it.  Before that I had used a flat 24 inch monitor for years. I didn't ever feel the need to upgrade to 4K or even a larger monitor because I also use a VR headset a lot of the time.  I really like the monitor now though.  Even though my monitor isn't the largest, and it's only slightly curved, it does feel more immersive, as it takes up most of my FOV.  The one downside is that 3D objects do stretch slightly at the outer edges of the monitor, because of a minor fisheye effect.  It's nothing like.  I barely notice it TBH, because I only focus near the centre of the screen, but if you look at a knob near the edge of the screen compared to a knob near the centre, the knob near the edge of the screen seems larger than it should be.  Other than that, and again, I hardly notice that issue, I'm very impressed by the immersion, high quality of the visuals at 4k, and one of the biggest selling points for me was the variable refresh rate, up to 144Hz for mine.  This is fantastic to stop stuttering and screen tearing and artefacts.

I have an ultrawide screen 1440p curved monitor, and it works great.

I have a MSI 49" curved oled monitor and it is great for MSFS. Previously I had for ten years a 34" curved Dell Ultrasharp that was excellent as well.

I have the 49' curved Samsung. Been using it since 2020 came out and won't ever go back (used to have three flat monitors).

Game changer and well worth it.

I have a Gigabyte 32 inch cureved 1440 monitor and love it.  Improves msfs a lot and I've had no issues with it.  I believe the screen is actually made by Samsung even though it is a Gigabyte product.

I saw my son running msfs on a 24 inch curved monitor and really liked it and decided to get one, but found that the 32 inch version was not much more expensive and glad I invested the extra £50 on it.

I would definitely recommend curved monitors for most games and especially flight simulaton.

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

Question, does a curved monitor cause any distortion of instruments or instrument panels like an unnatural curved appearance or distortion of shapes? How about scenery and or depth perception? It would be interesting to hear if there are any credible cons to a curved monitor as opposed to a flat. I’ve always used an ultra wide flat screen but am interested in a curved for simming

Patco...... Not for me. I run full resolution 51xx X 1440.

There's no significant distortion up to a point...I use a 38" 21:9 Alienware curved screen monitor (3840 x 1600) on my MSFS box, with no issues.  I looked at a 49" Samsung a while back, and the curvilinear distortion approaching the edges was fairly noticeable--not horrible, but noticeable.

I currently have 3 curved monitors:

For music creation, connected to my KORG PA5X-88 Synth/keyboard:

Alienware 34” Curved QD-OLED 3440 x 1440

For work and video/audio production (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Suite, VS 2022/26, Cubase, etc.):

LG 45” OLED 5120 x 2160

For Flight simulation:

LG 45” 3440 x 1440 OLED

3440 x 1440 is a great resolution for flight simulation, works very well and less stress on the GPU vs. 4K monitors (3840 x 2160).

the 5120 x 2160 would be nice also but will stress out a 5090 … maybe next gen nVidia or AMD will make it viable.
