Guys....way off topic!  Take the hint!

But the friction generated by the back and forth posts produces electricity!

  • I would rebut your replies Martin but as Charlie warned it could close the thread.  Let me just say I'm very comfortable with myself and the achievements I've made both in and out of the workplace.

  • Do we really need to get into electrical generation again?  You know very well where this will end up!

  • Human beings, people, need to be productive.  Enjoying yourself is not productive.  Your favorite pastimes which excite you now lose that excitement when done day after day.  From stamp collecting to

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

No Way!  Sorry, Martin but a person's self worth has a lot to do with what they produce in the workplace.

Our friendly neighborhood AI has the same opinion as me...

Self-worth is not dependent on your job because your intrinsic value as a person is separate from your professional role and achievements. To build a healthy sense of self, focus on personal qualities, hobbies, and relationships outside of work, and avoid equating your identity with your job title or performance.

Why self-worth is independent of your job
  • You are more than your job: Your job is a part of your life, but it does not make up your entire identity. Your unique skills, passions, and experiences exist independently of any career.

Self-worth is inherent and not performance-based
  • Self-worth is the intrinsic belief in your own value, which exists independently of your accomplishments.
  • Instead of being something you earn, your worth is something you already own simply by existing.
  • The constant need to achieve can lead to burnout and a feeling that something is wrong with you whenever you aren't performing at your best.

In terms of the energy requirement for the new AI revolution, I see the measures I already mentioned as the way forward. The industry isn't just sitting by idly and doing nothing, just hoping for the best, they are actively working to address the issue. Advanced nuclear, geothermal, solar with thermal storage, investments in energy efficiency, and upgrades to existing power grids are the plan. Plus, hardware and algorithm optimization, advanced cooling techniques, smart grid integration.

Like any new revolutionary technology, there will be a transition period, but technological innovation, investment in new energy infrastructure, and policy changes will hopefully power the new AI future in a sustainable way.

The above might be too optimistic.... time will tell.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.
