December 9, 2025Dec 9 After installing SU4 and then going into the MSFS 2024 Content Library, I was honestly surprised by how many updates and downloads I was suddenly asked to install – I always prefer locally downloaded content over streamed content, so I went ahead and did them all. Afterwards, I ran Addon Linker’s Duplicate Check as usual. This time I noticed a huge number of duplicated items in my Official2024\OneStore folder: not just a few packages, but effectively every official scenery and every aircraft now appears twice – for example: asobo-aircraft-xyz + asobo-aircraft-xyz-temp , ms-aircraft-xyz + ms-aircraft-xyz-temp , asobo-airport-ABCD + asobo-airport-ABCD-temp , and similar *-temp variants for the other scenery folders as well. It looks like SU4 has unnecessarily blown up the size of my installation by leaving behind these -temp duplicates for all official content. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
December 9, 2025Dec 9 Author Maybe it was only me who caused this somehow. Anyway, I deleted all *-temp folders in Official2020 and Official2024. Now both folders again with reasonable size (100GB + 234 GB). MSFS2020 is not installed but MSFS2024 still uses quite a lot of MSFS2020 scenery and a/c. Problem solved. December 9, 2025Dec 9 Interesting … I got the “upgrade” text for all my MSFS content last night and just assumed it was required for SU4 (I don’t stream) … 300GB worth and I didn’t have time to finish updating every download and install. I don’t have “Add-On Linker”, but I’ll check my Official2024 folder later tonight. Are you sure those “duplicates” aren’t just symbolic links and not actual MSFS data files? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan
December 9, 2025Dec 9 I have downloaded the aircraft I use and I just checked my Official2024 folder and there aren't any duplicates or .temp files. Have you checked your MyLibrary since deleting the files? When updating files in 2024 you have to download the update and then install it. Did you do the second install step. I wonder if the .temp files were the updates that hadn't yet been installed?
December 11, 2025Dec 11 Author Everything is downloaded and installed. But my first big update session did not finalize correctly (hung at 97% for over 1 h) and I had to close the sim via task manager. My second try was then successful. I conclude that the *-temp folders wore left-overs from the first attempt (content was downloaded but not integrated). - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
