January 4Jan 4 I would like to switch to P3D v6, but I have about 50 sceneries to migrate. A first attempt a year ago failed. With the help of ChatGPT, I have now found a viable solution involving an intermediate step with a P3Dv5 dummy. However, I now have a question about installing OrbX products. P3D v6 has an improved MESH and LANDCLASS architecture, and it is recommended to only install Global-BASE and possibly VECTORS and mesh files (for certain sceneries). What has been the experience with OrbX and P3Dv6?
January 5Jan 5 I've been able to install ORBX Global Base, Global Buildings, Global Trees, and all the openLC scenery in P3Dv6. There are currently P3Dv6 versions of Global Base, Buildings, openLC Europe, and Libraries, but the P3Dv5 stuff also works in v6. I would not recommend FTX Vector as it's a resource hog and isn't really necessary as v6 has pretty accurate stock vector data. I use FreemeshX Global 2.0 for the terrain mesh. January 5Jan 5 Most (not all) of the Orbx scenery will work in P3D V6 but it will look odd (especially runway tire markings0 ... often too dark or too reflective and doesn't responded well to the improved lighting in P3D V6. I would NOT install Orbx Vectors. It's a shame as the performance in P3D V6 is much improved. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan

January 5Jan 5 If you decided to install ORBX vector, search for this in the library "Global_default_Vector_Removal". It's a fix that will greatly improve the performance of ORBX Vector in P3DV5 and V6. John C. Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. January 7Jan 7 There has been a lot posts on this, it does work fine mostly! I also use v5 to install all the scenery on and then import it to V6. The only issue i have in some places are elevation errors. Edited January 7Jan 7 by remcosol
