MSFS 2024 Land of the Not Quite Right

Featured Replies

I've currently got MSFS 2024 (SU4) installed and it is like the "land of the not quite right."  Sometimes the parking locations are slightly off so jetways don't necessarily align with a door.  The pushback tug always wants to automatically turn the aircraft tail to the left even if it would make sense to go to the right.  Oftentimes I have to restart from the main menu because navdata isn't fully there.  Likewise, I've had to restart because there was no engine cover available to actually remove on the stock A320 so it was installed but not shown as such so it was not able to be removed.

Had anyone else run in to similar issues? Is this likely just an artifact of it being a streaming install and I just need to wait longer before doing anything once I get you the Ready to Fly screen?

I purchased MSFS 2024 after SU4 had been released, so I have no frame of reference as to sim behavior prior to SU4.  I have definitely experienced parking location - jetway misalignment issues (i.e. when the aircraft spawns on start up the jetway is crossing through the fuselage or, after landing, when arriving at the gate the respective jetway is crossing the parking position line). However, I do not find this to be the case at all airports.  I have also experienced the described pushback tug issue, however when flying the Fenix A320 I activate pushback utilizing the Fenix EFB (allows you to pushback straight, left or right) to mitigate this.  I also tend to wait a little bit before clicking "ready to fly" to allow objects to load, however it seems the aforementioned can occur regardless.

I don't think that's the problem.  There are people on very modest streaming connections (~50Mbps) who've reported no issues with streamed rendering.

From this issues you mention, it sounds like there is something amiss with your installation.  It might be worth doing an uninstall-reinstall.  With MSFS2024 this is no longer as bad as it sounds, as the installation is small and your prefernces ans settings should be restored from the cloud. Just make sure you have an empty Community folder, when loading for the first time, after a reinstall.

Well, I found jetway/parking misalignment common in P3D and FSX/FS2004/before that also, I mean it's a recurring problem with scenery it seems.  I know it often takes a lot of fine-tuning to get that part of scenery absolutely 100% correct, and, that's not fine-tuning that is often done with add-on scenery much less default scenery.

Your other issues re: navdata and engine covers, etc. sounds like nothing I've ever heard of with 24 so something does seem off with your sim.

I always do wait a few seconds and let the sim flip between various views before hitting Ready To Fly, I have had problems where I immediately hit the button.

Gotcha. I'll have to give it a shot.

AFCADs were easier to make for previous sims, 2020 included. That's why the Library and fs.to are full of them. I understand that AFCADs for 2024 need to be made from scratch. I hope to be wrong.

They were, that was kind of my point.   Problems could be fixed not necessarily by the developer but by the end-user.   I think an easy-to-use tool like ADE / AFCAD would be great.  Right now it's difficult in my opinion, as you said.
