May 9May 9 I would like to know why certain things, like power towers, and others, shimmer so badly. I have tested with and without mamudesign powerlines. They look terrible and ruin the landscape. What do I need to do in order to stop that, if possible. I am running MSFS 2024 and I am using DLSS Quality. However, I have tried TAA and it wasn't any better. Any help here? May 9May 9 Shimmering comes from colour switching on the edges of the object you're looking at. If your view is fixed, there is no colour switching on the edge of the object, hence no shimmering. This does not mean that things like powerlines and fences are looking good, they are at a distance only a pixel wide so they can still be broken depending on the nearby colour they have the moment you fix your view. Straight 100% horizontal lines are OK but once they are not 100% horizontal things get messed up. But it all becomes worse the moment you look around (or move) and certainly with a headtracker since each slight movement of your head results in a slightly shifted view, making that the fines lines on edges need to change colour with the colour just beside the object resulting in shimmering. May 9May 9 I see the same thing here, and with Tobii it stands out even more because those tiny head movements keep the edges in motion all the time. For me the worst offenders are still power lines, fences and some distant roof edges. What helped a bit on my side was staying at native resolution and using DLAA instead of chasing more aggressive upscaling, but it definitely hasn’t eliminated it. It feels more like an edge handling / anti-aliasing weakness than a single bad setting.
May 9May 9 If you are using a TV as a monitor or even a monitor have you tried adjusting the - Sharpness - setting down to make the pixels a bit softer........ worked for me. Can you let me know if this works for you..... Edited May 9May 9 by aerostar

The nature of such objects and how they are rendered makes it very difficult to avoid artifacts at a distance when there is movement. As others have said you can reduce monitor sharpness settings and even dial down AA in your nVidia control panel, but only to an extent. There is no particular setting that will magically make shimmer/artifacts vanish forever. Edited May 9May 9 by Nandengo12

That worked the best for me to reduce this kind of thing. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
May 9May 9 Ive forced up sharpness on ReShade, because I'm not happy with the washy terrain textures, yet this has caused photogrammetry to shimmer to the extent that I've had to turn it off. Was never a complete fan of it anyway.
