Why am I being offered Premium Deluxe upgrades?

Featured Replies

I see the same.

I put it down to Marketplace / My Library weirdness!

Probably the same reason that AI 737-100 is in the marketplace lol

They should be marked "Owned". Something is not right if they are not.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I own the Aviators edition. All the aviator, premium, deluxe, and standard items are marked "Owned".

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Updates to owned items are free.

And upgrades are optional. Like this Maule which I own. If I want the upgraded version, I can click on it. Or not.

It clearly says Update available to the Upgrade packages you own. Click on the down arrow on the right of each section and see what packages are listed. I am guessing that you have downloaded packages rather than streaming them?

What do you think updates to core sim packages have to do with optional third party addons?

Yep, thought it might improve FPS at the time, but I'm not sure it makes any difference. I clicked on the packages available for the Standard to Premium deluxe update - there's a lot of stuff there, so I just set select all, and let it get on with the download - all 236gb of it!

Not sure I really understand what's going on regarding the various update options available, but the Sims working fine, which is all that matters!

Thanks all for your input

I have downloaded the aircraft I use as I didn't see the point in streaming them every time (I know that the cache means it won't be everytime) but left the terrain streaming.

If you have downloaded files then when the developers fix bugs or change the files in any way you need to download the new versions. That is all you are seeing with this message. If you streamed everything then it just updates on the MS/Asobo servers and your sim would download the new versions when you use them without you being aware of it.

I think the MP is mismanaged. I think the idea of it is good, but the execution is poor. I've already written my thoughts about it to Asobo quite a while ago.

In case you do want to understand, for reasons of their own, when you buy a version of MSFS 2024, or indeed MSFS 2020,
you are given all versions up to and including the one you chose.
These are listed, as in your screenshot, as separate purchases:

MSFS2024-UPDATE-AVAILABLE.png

Each version is a "Pack", made up of numerous "items".

You have made dynamic updating at source impossible by downloading the files to your device.
The only option left to Microsoft is to notify you that updates are available, so that you can download them, if you wish to.

If an "item" in a "Pack" has been updated, meaning a newer version of the same thing,
NOT upgraded, which means a different and better "item",
you will see the notification.

The notification does not mean that the entire "Pack" has been updated, it means that at least one and perhaps several of the "items" within the "Pack" has or have been updated.
It is telling you that you no longer have the latest version of the "item" and that a newer version of the "item" is available to download.
Armed with that information, you can choose whether to update, or not to update.

Thanks, that's useful information!
