We have confirmed a bug in the MSFS 2024 version of the iFly Plugin. Do not run it manually as it will use excessive memory. Only launch it using the EXE.XML automatic method. We are working on a hotfix now. No ETA, but work is in progress.

  • This comment doesn't really make sense. SP1 was never going to be native 2024. That was communicated very clearly on the roadmap after initial release. SP1 first, native 2024 next, Max9 and furthe

  • Very happy with this SP1. EFB awesome. Hand flies very nice. Systems seem spot on. Performance really good too. My new Boeing favourite.

That could be one of the many problems....some users mention they've done it, other's have not mentioned if they did. The bottom line is that iFly and Flight1 are keenly aware of the performance issue

Ok, received answers. For the simbrief flightplan import and automatic fuel/payload loading, both a simbrief and navigraph account (both free) are required. You do not need a navigraph subscription.

Apparently this is all explained the the documentation in the, go figure, "documentation" folder 😁. I haven't read it myself haha, or I would have pointed you there in the first place. Sorry lol.

Just did my first flight post-SP1 - am I correct that there's still no STS implemented? I didn't hear the trim wheel and had to trim myself a lot more than I'm used to from the NG.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Not for me. I don’t have any issue hearing the trim wheel. If anything I hear it too much. YMMV. TANSTAAFL. Blue skies,

I think a lot of simmers don't quite understand the speed trim system; I think some of that comes from the improper modeling of it in other addons.

Speed trim does not activate on every flight. It doesn't even activate on most flights. It's not there to replace manual trim inputs from the pilots. It's only really used in an edge case scenario of a light weight aircraft with an aft CG, and high thrust setting. So, where you'll see it (if you see it) is during climb out on a high thrust takeoff in a light aircraft with an aft CG. It's a speed stability aid in this one specific condition (and uses a built-in schedule that's often not perfect anyway; I find myself trimming against it about half the time I see it.).

TL;Dr, it really doesn't do much.

You likely find yourself trimming the iFly more because thrust / pitch coupling is much better modeled than other airliners in MSFS. A thrust change will change trim state, every time.

I honestly can't remember if it's modeled in the iFly; that's how little it matters. It's there to counter a shift in the center of lift on portions of the aircraft other than the wing; things that don't happen in MSFS, so there's not anything for it to actually do.

I do seem to remember seeing it activate during stall tests (nose down trim - no not MCAS, that's different - is another function at low speed).

apologies for not RTFM before ;-)

Well, likewise here 😁. I feel kind of bad about that; I know they worked hard on the documentation and they asked us all to proof it, and I kept meaning to but not having time. But good deal, glad it's working 👍.

I am looking into buying this, is it quite polished? Or shall i wait for the next update?

Thanks

Quite nicely done. Two years of polishing make it quite so. You should not be disappointed. YMMV. TANSTAAFL. Blue skies,

Nice! I like the new EFB. I prefer it to the PMDG now.

the EFB is excellent. for sure not as simplistic as the probably real one before but yet a blast for a casual simmer like me. Def better than the PMDG approach to crank everything in 15 pages in the FMC. And honestly even better than the Toliss 340 where I always have to think what "enabled" means and whether I clicked and submitted something or not.

Just did not figure out how to use the remote EFB on my iPad. A blank / black page loads in Chrome, header says iFly EFB but yet no content shown. I added the 8084 port to the firewall, Fenix EFB works on port 8085 but the iFly remains black. no deal breaker and for sure something on my side. Unless - yes I did now RTFM - it only works with Safari?

I like to fly at night, but I find that the landing, taxi, strobe, and beacon lights are way too exaggerated. The landing and taxi lights in particular are creating a sort of white haze in front of the windscreen, without clouds in the sky. When closing in on the runway for landing, the glare is a bit less bothersome, but it's still totally unrealistic. Also, seeing the strobe lights flashing intensely on my sides from the cockpit makes the flight experience feel completely unrealistic. The same goes for the beacon light, but that is only visible from the external view or if you go into the cabin.

I selected "fail operational," and the airplane approaches the runway correctly. However, after touchdown, it behaves like a "fail passive" autoland system because it is unable to keep the aircraft on the centerline, or the corrections it makes to stay on the centerline are too late. My best autoland experience so far has been with the MD-11.

Banking autopilot problem:
Something like a "bouncing" effect frequently occurs at the end of a bank. When flying manually, you have to be very careful with the yoke during banking, because an 80‑ton airplane should not bounce or stopping abruptly at the end of the bank. The Fenix A320 had this problem too, but the devs fixed it, fortunately.

Remember that they're all LED lights and VERY bright compared to the old incandescent. The beacons and strobes are physically larger, as well. I do agree that the landing light glare is too much, it can almost glare the HUD out at full brightness, but I also noted that this is a problem in 2024 but not in 2020. Maybe it can be improved in the native 2024 build? I'm not sure how much of it might be sim dependent vs tweakable by a dev though.

The strobe and beacon effects though, I find pretty spot on. They really are significantly different from the old style lights.

You are mistakenly assuming that I don’t know the difference between LED and incandescent lights.
