July 6Jul 6 The newly released package from Aero Dynamics: T-38N (NASA) and F-5B.While it is heavily based on the original T-38C/A package, we're getting two fairly substantial variants in this new one.As before, these addons have very nice flight & physics models - definitely not the usual dreck that many MSFS .mil addons have.See the last few images for cockpit comparison shots (basically spanning from 1961 through the early 2000's(!)).Here's a nice shot of my first landing in the F-5B:Here's the T-38N (NASA) variant blasting out of Patrick Space Force Base just down the coast from Kennedy Space Center (little known fact: I got to fly out of here IRL on an O-2 Skymaster fam flight :) )Here's the original T-38A steam gauge cockpit from the early 1960s:(this is included in the original T-38C package)Here's the new F-5B cockpit, which retains most of the steam gauges but adds what appears to be the HUD and UFCP from an F-16(!)I do appreciate that the devs added in a little Garmin GPS, too. And it seems like we can add tip tanks and 3 drop tanks for extended touring, or a few more minutes of afterburner ;) (this is included in the new T-38N/F-5B package)Here's the T-38N (NASA) that seems to have the most "civilian standard" avionics (I have to RTFM to see what it's really capable of). Sadly, it has no HUD...(this is included in the new T-38N/F-5B package)And finally, the pimped out T-38C that has a glass cockpit with comprehensive systems and remains the current USAF secondary trainer:(this is included in the original T-38C package)
July 6Jul 6 Thanks for the write up, I’ll be picking this new pack up shortly, I’ve not flown the T38 for a few months so will have to reacquaint myself but it’s one of my favourite add ons, they’ve done a nice job. I think there’s a few improvements in this new pack that will be back ported to the original A & C variants.I’ll be interested to see, having not flown the A for several updates, if they’ve sorted the engine N1 power settings, where the blackbird/microsoft version proved to give the more realistic N1 of the 2. 787 captain. I have been keeping them up to date, and iirc, they did say the power had been adjusted. I’ll have to see how it is now I’m hoping the N’s avionics are standard enough to be a bit more straightforward for nav than the C’s. I haven’t checked in on the BBS Talin in awhile. I stopped flying it when they announced they weren’t likely to fix the nosewheel steering issue. Hopefully they did, because it is a nice addon that traces back to the Hi Fi version in MSFS.

Sunday at 02:41 PM1 day Really appreciate the cockpit comparo screenies. I flew the snot out of both variants in the original T-38C/A package and have been on the fence about buying the two new ones but this is a big help. The opportunity to have an F-5 in the hangar is a big draw anyway, but the HUDless variant has my interest piqued for some reason. "That's what" - She

And before this, I had never seen the N or an F-5 with a HUD, so it’s worth it to me just to go hands on with those! And yep - the N is what’s got me interested as well. Perhaps just the possibility of less esoteric nav systems than the C, making it friendlier for general purpose use…? Times’s short, lately, so I’ve not been going deep on anything new. Hope to rectify that situation soon!

Shooting ILS approaches in the C model was fun but it felt a little like cheating with that pipper on the end of the runway TBH😉 "That's what" - She
