Here is a small preview of a quick project that got going this week. Was flying the islands recently and realized Upolu has been overlooked. This is the only airfield on the northwest coast of the Big Island, and is a bit of a skydiving hub now. Most of the other small airports in the islands are well covered by excellent payware, so it's time to cover the gap!

The default ortho grass color is a little odd, but I may just leave it as-is...unless I can figure out a solution.

Very nice. Its really true as you say. Every other airport in Hawaii has a good payware option in MSFS except Upolu. Perhaps Hilo as well but still. Great that you will make a good Upolu. Look forward to it

Yes I agree with you...almost all available are great. We are so lucky with Hawaii in MSFS compared to prior sims. But yes, a different studio needs to do a proper job with PHTO. Hoping NSS will take it on as well...

Very nice, I see you are using some of my assets. I made a upolu airport a few years back and had it on flightsim.to but deleted it since I couldnt get terraforming right in 2020

Excellent thank you! There used to be a freeware Upolu but the author had removed it months ago for unknown reasons. I'm also hoping for a two more significant airports that remain without good representations in Hawaii:

1. Hilo (PHTO) - recently covered by FlyNdrive4D payware Hawaii Landmarks Extension product which isn't bad at all, but a higher fidelity version would be great. I contacted Northern Sky about this one at least a year ago but they don't have enough reference material to make it, and efforts to reach out to the airport administrators were met with silence.

2. Kalaeloa Airport - used to be Barbers Point NAS. Still has the ever-busy US Coast Guard air station on premises, and the rest is a quieter GA field now. There is or was a version on .to for 2020, not sure if removed, but a high quality version presumably by Northern Sky would be very welcome. I haven't reached out about this one, but images may be more obtainable.

With Upolu covered, if we can just get the above two done in higher fidelity than current available, every major airfield will be covered in Hawaii besides the two Army Air Fields (AAFs...one on Oahu and one on the Big Island), and the tiny little grass fields that may or may not even exist anymore.

Are you the creator of the SNK library? I think at least one or two of your assets are in almost every scenery I have released 😍

Yeah that was me.. I do have a fully rebuilt version of hilo up with an accruate layout. Just doesn't have a custom modeled terminal

Wow, I didn't know that. Will have to check out the Hawaii Landmarks product. Do you recommend it?

I have been using SNK's default asset PHTO rework combined with imported assets from the old FSDT PHTO, a strange but workable marriage for the time being.

Regarding JRF, there are plenty of photo resources. Hopefully NSS can get to it!
