Not saving RCD file

Featured Replies

I have been using RC 4 for some time. I saved a flight with Radar Contact open, using the FS9 Save flight option. I can see the .FLT and Wx files, but no rcd file is there.I had thought I had identified the directory for these files in the past, and in fact see several OLD .rcd files for other flights. Any idea why this flight was not saved properly?Could it be that I need to reidentify the directory for these files to get it to work? Thanks,Greg

Hi Greg,To save a RCD file you need to press Ctrl+Shift+; - the default RC key combo. You can check this by pressing Keyboard on the main menu and checking what you have assigned to Save RC/FS State. The display on FSUIPC will briefly change to confirm a RCD has been saved.Cheers,

Also, you MUST make sure you have the path set for the .flt/.wx files in the RC interface screen. (i.e. - click on the .flt/.wx button and set the path to where you have these files stored)

This statement from the manual is what confuses me:An .RCD file is a file that has been saved while flying with RC. Saving the RCD file can be accomplished in three ways. You can use the default RC key ctrl-shift-; (semi-colon) or using the Flight Simulator menu (Flights/Save Flight) or use the default Save Flight key; (semi-colon). If you use the latter two, you can specify a file name, which is indicative of your situation, such as

rc has to be running, if you want a .rcd to be saved by any of the methods documented.if you save via fs menu or fs key (;), a .rcd file with the same name you used in the fs save flight dialog box will be created by rc.does that help?

I have tried this but I only get the .flt and .wx files and not the RCD files. When I save with CTRL+SHIFT+; then I get all the 3 files.Of course there will be this name starting with the day nummber of the year etc, but we can rename it in the Flightsim folder.Perhaps there si still a bug or we are doing something wrong!!!!????:) :) :-jumpy :-hmmm Carlos

is it a bug, if you're the only one with the problem? :-)follow the directions at the top of the forum, generate a .log, fly fs, hit ctrl-shift-; a couple of times, and then send me the .log - i'll tell you where the .rcd files are going.jd

I know where the files are going for I have define the folder in "Radar Contact Options .FLT/.WX Path"I have tried it out also. The path must also be the FLight Simulator File folder otherwise it will find the RCD files but come up with an error message that it can't find the .flt files.I had set the path for the .RCD files in a different folder not to get the FLight Simulator File folder to crowded, but allas. I get thye 3 files only when I hit CTRL+SHIFT +;, onlly with ; I get 2 files and not the RCD files.I will try these on later again, perhaps I'm not seeing something as it is.Carlos

My FSUIPC version is 3.7.3.0, this is an unregistered version.

I am experiencing the same problem. On a flight from KDFW to KSAN. I saved 6 times via FS file saving method during the flight. The last 3 .wx and .pln files were there but none of there .rcd files were. However, the first 3 saved flights had all three files .wx .pln and .rcd files. I tried this twice with the same results. I loaded the last saved FS saved file number 6(Airport Approach)and it worked fine. Although as you would expect without radar contact.Regards.Bill

and is the .flt/.wx path correct? press the button, and choose the proper directory?make sure you have the latest fsuipcmake sure fs isn't paused when you save the flightjd

not sure the .rcd will help with that plane. i don't think you can load a .rcd with that plane, since the plane starts up cold, and none of it's settings are captured in the .flt or the .rcd filesjd
