  1. Rude? Yeah, okay Andy. "As for advertising well you need to keep a closer eye on the forums..." That's not rude? Presumptuous and condescending? Telling me how to run our site??? I will always give as well as I get Andy. Think about that the next time you decide you know better than we do with AVSIM and how you decide to communicate it, okay?
  2. It has been sorted Andy. Don't be. Forum owners can post whatever they like in their forums. Read our policies / Terms of Service again. We can't allow you to be confused...
  3. I can assure you our X-Plane forums will not ever suffer that problem. We have no reservation about banning or suspending any member here, no matter who they are. And I am confident that there are more than a couple of vendors out there that will attest to that statement.
  4. Huh? It isn't anonymous. Just click on the "list" link next to the votes on your topic. We are coming to a point where we are going to be looking at the usage data to date and dealing with the abusers.
  5. There is a very simple view of this, though not a direct answer to your question... Potentially, all of them could buy 3rd party content. Another way to look at it is that this is an "addressable market", some portion of which is "capturable".
  6. I am forced to ask; since when? Or, alternatively; you just noticed? Depending upon your perspective, we have been through cycles of "contention" or "calm" since our very beginning in 1997. There is nothing new today than has not previously shown itself over the last 18 years. You have access to the REPORT button. Use it. But... just because someone disagrees with your point of view, or whatever, doesn't necessarily mean we will ban them. It has to be pretty onerous for us to ban. So, this is what it is really about? Go somewhere else cause you don't like it here? We have a community of nearly 120,000 strong and with an average of 800 to 1,000 users online during any given 15 minute window. I think you do a lot of people here a severe disservice and in fact insult them, when you imply that they have no respect for the hobby and do not have respect for other members. You just made a wide sweep generalization at a whole bunch of good people. If it is that bad, then I agree with you. Do go create a forum that you can control and enforce your version of respect for both the hobby and each other. It really is that easy to do.
  7. We are pleased to announce a fantastic offer - 70% off the S.E.5.A and Airshow Pilot from Just Flight! The S.E.5.A: The S.E.5A is one of the most famous Royal Flying Corps fighters of WWI. This package provides nine aircraft to pilot in five versions with different engines and two-blade and four-blade propellers. Exacting detail inside and out even includes modelled rivets and stitching on the fuselage. You can purchase the S.E.5.A here. The Airshow Pilot: How accurate is your flying? Can you keep headings, altitudes and fly near-perfect manoeuvres? Now’s your perfect chance to prove you are the best! Airshow Pilot is all about accurate, precision flying at air shows, whether in an aerobatic Extra, a passenger airliner or a Hawk fast jet trainer - in fact you can fly any aircraft that you have installed in FSX! You can purchase Airshow Pilot here.
  8. Whenever questions or innuendo regarding AVSIM's intentions are made, "letting go" is not an option. I am not going to allow a statement to be made that could raise questions in the minds of our community members to go unchallenged or unexplained. So, "letting go" for us, is not an option.
  9. Well said Bill and thanks for opening this topic. There are few men that have walked on this little blue pearl of ours that have had as much impact as Nelson Mandela did in his 95 years. You can count on one hand his equals in the 95 years that he graced us with. There is not a president, prime minister, dictator, governor, or other politician or "representative of the people" that even deserves a place in the same book, let alone the same page, written about Sir Mandela. Where most "leaders" today are polarizing, divisive and alienating influences, Nelson Mandela's presence and influence, even while serving 27 years in prison, was singular in its unifying influence around the world. The world lost a very great man today, who, given the candidates we see around us, will never be emulated, let alone replaced. May his memory live long in all of us and may we collectively, someday, find a candidate to govern us as well as he did for his people and the community of man. If that sounds like a Mandela fanbois, then I am guilty as charged without apology.
  10. No it won't. It will just get those that do post about that subject banned from this topic and it won't ever get closed until I get a public answer from Dan.
  11. After an exhausting trip back from the west coast, I am starting to catch up with the reading. So, Dan, what does this quote above mean? What makes you think "but that may well change in the near future as well." referring to AVSIM? What do you know that I don't? Our allegiance has always been to our community members. To imply that we might not maintain that allegiance and suddenly change it to some commercial self-interest does demand an explanation. Otherwise, I might be left to conclude that you are simply trying to poison the well here.
  12. You joined seven days ago and you have concluded this forum sucks? It is simple to post screen shots. You just have to be smarter than your average browser. A couple of thousand of your fellow members don't have issues. There must be a secret decoder ring or something.
  13. The more X-Plane uploads the better Jesse! Bring 'em on! :Applause:
  14. Well, you do have AVSIM to call home for all things X-Plane. We have been trying to encourage the X-Plane community for years to do so, and it always concerned me that because of the *.org confusion, that we were not a location to attend, because we were not the "official" X-Plane site. I would just repeat what I have asked for in the past; if you are an X-Plane fan and would like to have a home alternative, then please encourage your fellow X-Plane enthusiasts help to expand that community here.
  15. Folks, there are some of you, with intent or otherwise, that are hi-jacking this whole thread. If you do NOT have a question of LR, then do not post here. Your wasting space and intent. Let's get this back on track. What questions do you have of LR? Again, if you do not have a question, then do not post here.
  16. That site gives false positives. I just checked forum.avsim.net as I am posting this and it shows our site down.. They are trying to sell you something after all.
  17. Robert, user name ACA 4049, is our newly appointed December AVSIM Member of the Month. Robert is a long time member of AVSIM and is a fantastic contributor to our hobby and our community. Robert has attended a number of AVSIM events around the country, and is a great guy who you will see lending a hand throughout the forums and always a positive contributor. Robert, thank you for your continuing contributions here and congratulations for winning our Member of the Month recognition.
  18. Recently, we interviewed Lockheed Martin regarding their release of P3D V2. We would like to do the same thing with the guys from Laminar regarding X-Plane. So, here is your opportunity to get your burning questions in front to the Laminar team. You can post any question you want, but remember that we will be parsing them down to 10 or 15 selected questions and you do not want to waste your opportunity on questions that have no hope of being passed on or even answered. We will be putting these questions together and submitting them with our own. You have until midnight EDT, Monday night (that's right, tomorrow night) to get them into us by placing them in this topic. At midnight tomorrow night, this topic will be locked. Thanks for participating!
  19. Luis, Por favor, señor, no hay hospicios chistes. Es abusivo y agains nuestros Términos de Servicio. Uno más de esa manera, y debo interpretarlo como abusiva a mí (y usted). :Big Grin:
  20. I would like to announce that Jim Young (Firehawk44) has been promoted to Director of the Forums and as a result leads our dedicated team of forum moderators and managers. Jim has been with the AVSIM team for a long time and is a retired government employee who gets easily distracted by golf. Fortunately for us, this distraction does not last long enough in his day to keep him from fulfilling his new responsibilities in the forum. Jim has been a solid contributor to our team over the years and it is with a tremendous amount of gratitude that we welcome Jim stepping up to take on this position. I ask that you give Jim your support and please join me in congratulating Jim on his promotion to this very challenging position!
