Some time ago, I downloaded a mission from Hovercontrol.com ( which looked like it was supposed to be the first of a series - but which now looks like it may be the last?) - called CGAdventures. It takes you on a tour of a number of campsites in the mountains. At one of these campsites (on the shore of a river with a small jetty)it says to land near the end of the jetty.I landed - and did so in several places, but can't get the mission to accept the landing and move on.You would have to have flown this mission to know what I am sayingThanks for any helpBarry

How to access flights in "FLIGHTS" folder?
barryward12345 replied to a topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Hi HenrikYes - that was the case for FS2004, but it doesn't show in FSxBarry -
What does it matter? - downloading so-called "Realtime weather" gives me differing weather conditions to fly in - that is all I need.Barry

Top-Down view ... Keystroke??
barryward12345 replied to barryward12345's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Yes - F12 for top down view works when it goes under " View Camera select 4" - so I am trying to figure out what the Top down view (shortcut) is for. Trouble is I am flying the Piasecki chopper - and it requirs that the Camera views be allocated to different keystrokes. Kills my top down view keystroke.RegardsBarry -
How to access flights in "FLIGHTS" folder?
barryward12345 replied to a topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Hi Peter Thanks for that - but unfortunately I am not sure what you are saying. My saved flights are all in the MY DOCUMENTS/Flight Simulator X folder - and these are what show up when I go to LOAD in the freeflight page. I can also see the Missions also in the LOAD page. The FLIGHTS folder has the default startup flights in it - identical to how FS2004 did it - but I can't figure out a way to load these default flights in FSx. Perhaps they need to be transferred to the folder where Saved flights go?Regards Barry -
Top-Down view ... Keystroke??
barryward12345 replied to barryward12345's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Thanks BlairWhere exactly do you have F12 entered in the Controls section? If I enter it in the place that says "top-down view (shortcut)", it doesn't work - but if I enter it is the place that says "View Camera 4 (select)" , it does.Regards Barry -
Hi I am trying to programme a single keystroke to be able to bring up the TOP DOWN view - there is a place for this to be done in the Controls settings, but whatever keystroke I use, I cannot get the TOP DOWN view to show except via the VIEWS section of the menu.Any ideas please? Thanks Barry

HiI am a bit mystifed as to how to access the flights in the "FLIGHTS" folder. This contains the default flight that the Sim first accessed when new. If I go to the "free flight" page and click on "LOAD", all I can access are my own saved flightsThanks for any helpBarry

Maybe we should all be using bloom??
barryward12345 replied to tf51d's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Nevertheless - there is a significant difference in these films - so called "real" versus FSx. In comparison, the FSx film looks quite flat.Barry -

Indeed - that's a lot for the heads-up. Very interesting.Barry

I have just been playing around with this - and also the default bloom effect - using the "gathering storms" weather setting and early morning sun.Ever since I bought FSx , I have not used the bloom effect because it is said that it badly affects FPS. The first thing I noticed is that bloom has no effect at all on my system - clouds and autogen are the killers for me.But anyway - I can certainly see a difference between bloom/no bloom - but I am unable to even say which I prefer. Bit of a non-issue to me really , and probably introduces just one more thing that can go wrong.I am more interested in finding out why some of my a/c "dis-assemble" themsleves onscreen. -- ie they look like a 3d disassembled blowup, like you see with plastic a/c models (how to assemble diagrams) :-) Barry

I am afraid to say that, from the screenshots postd, I can't see anything that would meke me excited regardless of impact on framerates. Those shots just look to me like the screen brightness has been increased.I don't get it at all.Barry

I'd like to be able to help you Brandon - but unfortunately, I wouldn't know what is happening with your system.I am using an E6600 dual core CPU with 2 gig RAM - it works well enough, but I only have an AGP vid card which is a few years old in design. My setup seems to work quite well right out of the box. It is important to select the right place to fly - using the right map provider. I use this website http://www.flashearth.com/ to find areas around the world that have high res photos. I find that,on average, Yahoo is good right across the US. Where have you been trying to fly? - and using which provider?Barry
-
NOPE! - Can't get this to work. Anybody else??Barry

I am generally quite happy with FSx textures - except of course for the desert all over the place. But does anybody know how to get rid of the bright blue colour of inland rivers. Most inland rivers that I have ever seen anywhere are usually a muddy green/brownBarry

Is Baron 58 a bit "twitchy" in pitch??
barryward12345 replied to thrakete's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
AHH! Thanks for that. This is much better - I had already lowered the elevator effectiveness, but it needed your recommended change to the Pitch stability. It is a pleasure to fly now.Barry -
I am no real life pilot - but have flown many FS a/c , both freeware and payware, large and small. The Baron feels a bit too twitchy in pitch to me - pull the stick back just a little and a bit fast, and the upwards pitch motion responds very fast(too fast?). The Baron is quite a heavy "small" a/c. There is just something about its'flight dynamics (particularly pitch) that I find unsatisfying and not in keeping with other a/c. Shame really, because I do quite like it as an FS a/c. I know that alternate FDEs were developed for the FS2002 and FS2004 Barons. Anybody know of any alternatives for FSx?Barry
