  1. >Try this in your Standard.xml file in the first section:>> > CTRL+SHIFT+A > TOGGLE_TAXI_LIGHTS> > >Put your key choice where the CTRL+SHIFT+A is.> >I haven't tried it but I saw it in a list of commands that had>undocumented commands. Thanks for that - will try it out. I would be VERY interested in your list of "undocumented" commandsBarry
  2. I have always known that autogen was a problem with FSx-- right from when the first demo came out. My lowly AMDxp 2400 ran the FSx demo quite nicely - nicely enough to enjoy the new features -- PROVIDED that the autogen was turned off. Now that I have a dual Core CPU and have applied the autogen "fix" - I am reasonably happy with FSx.It appears that my 256 meg Vid card isn't quite good enough though - does the job mostly, but seems to really need 512 meg.Barry
  3. Thanks for that LloydI am still looking for some explanation as to what the unallocated Camera positions ) and 4-9 are for. I have allocated a keystroke to them - but they don't do anything.I am also trying to setup a situation whereby I can use the up/down and left/right keys of NUMPAD to get an instantaneous LOOK left or right , ect - at the moment these keys only pan left or right.Any ideas form any others please? Thanks Barry
  4. Thanks for that JeffYes, I knew the location of these places - but wondering if they have been installed by an addon or whether they are there by default. The addons that I have don't make any mention of additional sceneries.Barry
  5. Being relativelt new to FSx ( but very experienced in FS9), I am having some trouble coming to grips with the new view control system. So far I have been able to map simple keystrokes to give me instant access to VC, outside view, 2D panel and Top down view. ( Note that I have only been able to access the topd down view instantaneously by mapping a key to Camera 4 , and not to the shortcut to Topdown view - this just has to be a big)Anyway - my questions are 1. What do the following controls meant to do (a) VIEW TRACK/PAN(Toggle)(:( VIEW (SNAP to FIXED VIEW)© VIEW (SNAP to PANEL VIEW)(d) NUMPAD (View directions/controls) -- which is mapped to Num / (which I don't understand)(e) VIEW-LINK ALL(Toggle)2. I have the following View controls - all (bar one) are unmappedVIEW - Cam 0, 4-9 (Cam4 - as I said previously - is mapped to the shortcut for Top Down view)What are these empty mappings supposed to be for? Why are Cam positions 1-3 missing? Thanks for any adviceBarry
  6. Do you have FSx SP2 installed? - On my machine, I had to uninstall SP2 because of very bad corrupted craphics problems. No amount of changes to the FSx settings would cure the problem. Now with only FSx SP1 installed everything works fine for meBarry
  7. I have a number of scenery folders in my "Addon Scenery" folder - and I don't know how they got there or if they are default. These sceneries are for COMOX, KELOWNA, SALMON ARM, SIKANNI and VICTORIA. I have a number of commercial a/c addons - so perhaps they were installed by those programmes??I don't even know if these sceneries are activated because they don't show in the Scenery Library and are all of the format Addon Scenery -- Scenery -- Comox -- sceneryNone of these sceneries have associated Texture folders.Any ideas please? Thanks Barry
  8. I have suddenly gotten this problem as well - but only when using an addon FS9 helo. I note that the FSx helos do not have this in tier Aircraft.cfg files - neither does the cfg file for thos addon helo, but it still comes on Will try the keyboard controls trickBarry
  9. And keep them shut down.Everytime I load a chopper from a situation of a shut down fixed wing a/c, it starts up with everything running.I just managed to completely shut down the default Robinson 22 - engine, electrics, rotor all shut down - loaded up a freeware addon chopper, and everything starts up already running??Any ideas please? Thanks Barry
  10. Hi NilsThanks for that - but in the meantime, I have been able to getDXTBMP to work converting 32bit to DXT5.In FS9, I used to save to DXT3 with no mips - because I found that mips made addon a/c "fuzzy". No mips = nice clear external view of a/c.But in FSx, it appears that you must save to DXT5 format with mips. (at least when using DXTBMP). This does not appear to be as big a problem for me in FSx as it was in FS9. The external views of the a/c in FSx are quite clear. Barry
  11. I know what I used to do in DXTBMP to reduce 32bit testures to DXT3 in FS9 - and just tried to do the same in FSx (saving to DDS DXT5 textures instead) -- but WOOPS - it did WEIRD things to the a/c.Could somebody kindly point me towards a walkthroughThanks Barry
  12. The Pietenpol Aircamper looks interesting Thanks Barry
  13. Hi blokesThanks for that advice- but I am looking for S-L-O-O-O-W. Although, I guess that if I hang out all the flaps, I could get the Beaver or Maule down to around 75 Knots :-) Barry
  14. Iam a fan of Tileproxy - and it works best with slower flying a/c. I have been using the default Cessna and Piper Cub.But I am looking for an a/c with a bit more interest/challenge. I firstly thought of gliders- but unfortunately TP does away with thermals. I next thought of helos- but so far I am finding them a bit TOO challenging. Takeoff and flight is OK - but can't seem to get any kind of repeatable landing "system" to work for me- and I suspect it is a bit more that the mantra of "practice, practice, practice" :-) Anway - back to the original question - anybody got any thoughts on thisThanks Barry
  15. To run TP at higher resolutions - eg 30cm and 60 cm , is it simply a matter of changing that one setting in the INI file? I often have a feeling that my Sim is not updating the textures closest to my a/c as well as it should. If they appear a little unclear, I can pause the sim and let it all do whatever it is supposed to be doing, but nothing seems to happen - so I sometimes have to actually use the "refresh scenery" Sim keyboard key to get the sim to refresh the scenery. This of course takes some time and is a bit of a pain to have to do.Barry
  16. Hi ShriThat makes sense to me - I had read a translated version of Frank's blog and it appeared to be saying how to install the files like I suggested in my post. But the translation from Italian to English was done on auto by Google.
  17. Another question please Frank.I understand to install your scenery - I must firstly add file Number 2 though the scenery library - and then add file number 1. This procedure makes File 1 higher priority than File 2. Is this procedure correct? Thanks Barry
  18. Hi FrankI note that the mesh that you have recommended is actually FS2004 mesh - does this work OK in FSx?If so, is it OK to include the mesh in the same folder as your scenery? Thanks Barry
  19. Thanks for that - I have been looking for a "slow" a/c that I can use with TP - something just a bit more challenging than the Piper Cub :-) Looks like it will have to be the helos - I have never been able to bother figuring them out - maybe this is now a great opportunity.Barry
  20. Hi KevinI have an old Microsoft stick - it works OK for fixed wing - so I would be a bit reluctant to get a new one just for the helos at this time. I have often though about taking out the springs in this though - if that is possible. But I will look at the Xaitek - thanks for that adviceBarry
  21. Thanks for that offer.I am starting to get the feel for flying the Robinson 22. But firstly, after discovering that there is a control knob in the VC for "Rotor trim" - but no way to use it except via clicking that knob (which is very difficult), I have figured out a way to be able to map the action of that control knob to 2 keyboard keys - X and Y ( for me on my system) This is quite valid/realistic as I understand that the R22 does have this control in real life. All you have to do is add this below to the Controls/Standard.xml file and at least you can get some lateral trim on the a/c when you are cruising ( instead of having to fight the #### thing all the time!!:-) ) FROTOR_LATERAL_TRIM_INCXROTOR_LATERAL_TRIM_DECSlowly getting there -- I note that the R22 does not have an AVIONICS switch on the panelRegards Barry
  22. Why is that with so many a/c -including the MS default ones - that when it comes to the written word, the presentation is so poor. For example, the Learning Centre articles for the Robinson chopper talks about "torque settings". There is no gauge for torque in the helicopter - only manifold pressure. Is there any tutorial around that does corrrectly describe how to attempt to fly these? Thanks Barry
  23. Certainly the depiction of thermals in the sim seems to go when using TP - don't know if the actual sim thermals go though. Would like someday to fly gliders in the sim with TP.Barry
  24. You know what - I must be going a bit senile!!x( Before I started playing around with this SA scenery, I went to "Flash Earth" - and I will swear that it was showing me that only service provider 2 G****** had high res coverage of that area. I was unsure of how I would go wih that service provider because of the way they do things ( as it turned out, I had no problems) -- but anyway, now Flash Earth is showing me that Service providers 1 and 3 also have high res coverage - in fact number 3 looks the best to me.Barry
