  1. LDR Navion B & Grumman Mallard. Both have a GPS in the cockpit. They are default turned off, just don't turn them on. Free to boot.
  2. Baton free @ KEYW. WOWSA! The first half of the last third of the flight was reminiscent of what Jeff went through last year. Was getting tossed around with 60* of bank in both directions for a good 20 minutes. Need to clean the cockpit of lunch. http://fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?detail=flight&value=51yf5nfUThkAXzuEk4Wpf0Ze5Mg Landing with what Eric Cartman would say - "Authoritah!"
  3. Change of plans - a quickie before the weekend. I have the baton KBPT --> KEYW in the A2A P-51H. Full race trim, TS, VPN, FSHost & Beta Duenna. Using FSRealWX Pro. I believe that particular rule is aimed at participation. "Don't bogart all the time available for others to fly." There are specific legs available for slower aircraft. It is a touchy one.. (subject that is) Maybe throw the discussion up at this topic so the committee can see it.
  4. Just caught that - Hilarious!!! I'm going to have to take your green paintbrush away until March... :Shame On You: Not so Travis.. Nice flight! 397 avg! And an unmodified .jpg to boot LOL. OT - Will not be able to make Saturday's flight. Won't be able to join in on practices until next week.... I have been practicing though, just a different arena. Need to finish this up pronto.
  5. Well????? Ron???? are you going to bite the bullet & start us off? LOL Where's that Chalks paint? Looks great! To others - Shall we directly upload to Avsim to practice proper posting? If so it may be time to clean up one's attachments as only 1.46MB worth are allowed. (My control panel → Settings → Manage Attachments) -or- can we direct link to the jpg output/txt file from fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?flight=(my flight) . I'm thinking direct upload unless absolutely required that one could not do it. Ron, there's a new epic! Not for prime time use yet but OH BOY! - http://www.flyingmag.com/epic-e1000-prototype-makes-first-flight
  6. WOW! Thanks Ron! It's great that you caught, what I believe, was the best one of the day. I believe that was at KCPU (Calaveras Co). Not the best shots.. Spent more time off "Otto" and actually flying the plane. The Mallard required more attention than usual during all phases, therefore less "shutter-bugging". Thanks Stew & Mike for the "brilliant" flight. Stew's Crew at KTVL (Lake Tahoe) - (from left to right) Bert in the Legacy; Mike, & Jeff in Comanche's; Josh in a Cherokee; myself in the Mallard; Rolf in a RV-7; and finally Stew in Beech a A36. The WX is NOT good here but from forecasts as we head west it will get much better. Staying low under the clouds to get a view, a view to miss running into Mother Earth. Another group shot at our first destination, M45 (Alpine County). Adding to Stew's crew - Ron to the far left in a A36, Nick dead center in the red/white Comanche & Jock to the far right in a B58. It's clearing up but still nice to stay low and peek out the window occasionally to observe the "goodies". Josh coming in at KCPU (Calaveras Co-Maury Rasmussen Field Airport). Over the top of a nice looking O22 (Columbia Airport) tucked away just west of the Columbia State Historic Park. The Exchequer Dam of Lake McClure leading to the Merced River, out the right window. The huge (305 ft. tall) earthen San Luis/B.F. Sisk Dam separating San Louis Resevoir & O'Neill Forebay. Mike coming into rwy 24 @ KCVH (Hollister Municipal Airport), greasing it. Jeff doing the same with just a little "floater" at the end, nice! Jeff sneaking over the top on the way to Watsonville. Ron coming into rwy 20 at KWVI (Watsonville Municipal Airport). This airport had a weird anomaly at the crossing runways where a huge pause (1-2 seconds) would occur along with some textures taking their sweet time loading on a view change. Coming over the Moss Landing Power Plant. Cough, Cough Cough... 1st,, this isn't the Monterey International Pop Festival and 2nd,, it definitely isn't mid-June, 1967.... Or is it? :Ying Yang: Laguna Seca, Lap 1 - Looking at turns 1 and 2, the "Andretti Hairpin". Lap 2 - The infamous turns 8 & 8A - "The Corkscrew" Tagging along with Mike as he leads me to the golfing mecca at Pebble Beach. The infamous 16th hole at Cypress Point.. Took a turn prior to the approach at KMRY to see the sunset. We ARE all here albeit parked all over,,, it's a busy place. Shutting down in time for dinner and "refreshments" at the "Golden Tee".. A great flight!
  7. I've had this happen before during some gauge programming where I had fouled up and ended up in a situation like yours. IIRC what I did was to save the flight then - - Open the previous saved .FLT file (\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files) with a plain text editor (notepad etc..) - Go down about 2/3 rds the way and find the [Avionics.0] section - Replaced the fouled entries with valid frequencies (Comms have 3 digits after decimal point, Navs have 2) - Save the file - Reload the flight in FSX, should be fixed. FSX can stay open during the procedure. Most avionics use the increase/decrease commands where it inc/dec at a fixed value. Once the freq is fouled it stays fouled. Good luck.
  8. I'll second that - ( Callsign ) spokes2112 ( Flightsim version ) FSX Original, FS9 also available ( Experience in Flightsim ) FS since FS95, RTWR since 2008, anything with wings, limited helo. ( Timezone =/- UTC ) UTC -6 (US Central)
  9. For your flight planning / map folding needs - SkyVector A little music for ya.... https://youtu.be/Mvs8U0oxnlI
  10. Some photos from last Saturday's flight. Taking off from Redding it was found that the WX was going to be a huge factor. We didn't even get to our first airport (CA53 - Tews) when it was decided not to go with real WX as it was only going to get worse in the mountains. We all dis/re-connected @ CA53 and had Ron run a theme instead (ORBX #5) which closely resembled the real WX without being overly bad. Some other "quirks" were had too. The crew... (Fore 2 Aft) Josh in the Comanche; Ron in the CAP C182; Nick in a 337 Skymaster; Bert in the RV-7A; Mike in the LDR Navion B; Myself in A Beech V-35B; Jeff pulling up in a Comanche; and finally, Stew in a Beech A36 as "Tail End Charlie". The crew, from Stew's view.. ( Say that 3 times real fast - ) Going underneath the South Market Street bridge just west of the Sundial Bridge. Not sure if there was a tail strike, it was real close! Splitting the Railroad / Benton Dr. / Dieselehorst Bridges. Going over the Keswick Dam trying to get a good shot. The great Shasta Dam with the eery WX showing itself. Crossing over, just south of, Mount Lassen. Ron taxiing in after arriving @ O05 - Rogers while the crew awaits. This airport had some kind of ant-gravity field going on as experienced by a few of us. It should've been relatively easy to get down at a 4530 foot field elevation. It took a less than stalling speed and nearly full down elevator just to get the wheels to touch. I observed, while taking off, that indeed, something was amiss. Approaching stall speed with no flaps the V35B just jumped about 200 feet into the air with a need to stall recover after the "jump" just to keep the aircraft in the air. This airport will have to be revisited. Ron coming in @ 2O1 - Quincy's Gansner Field after a fun approach through the valley. The crew at 2O1. A couple of OOM's occoured here by a few. We all started monitoring VAS and then over the radio came - "Let's get outta here!" Sure enough, once we left the area VAS dropped considerably. Josh bringing in the Comanche @ KPVF - Placerville - Nice! The WX is clearing but the flight is nearly over! Stew on approach to Placerville just prior to touchdown as we all look on. Josh, Jeff, Mike, Myself, Nick & finally Bert at Lake Tahoe. A little more sun showing the group in reverse, a busy place.. A little shot of the WX that we were lucky to miss. The last glimpse of the sun.
  11. Found them via search. Unknown if they work in FSX - V1 (for GA) - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004gau&DLID=84992 V2 (for larger aircraft) - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004gau&DLID=113484
  12. Merry Christmas Gents! A last minute bug was resolved this afternoon and after final tests it has been released.... The LDR Mallard. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links_search.php?action=show&keys=1&keyword=ldr_fsx_grumman_mallard.zip
  13. Very obscure... If an effect is attached as a light ( [Lights] section ) and the effect is not found, fs will not draw electrical current as specified for the light in the [Electrical] section.
  14. See this post about cabbing, there's no need to redo it every time. As for compression I have no clue as I just use the provided "SDK\SimObject Creation Kit\Cabdir SDK\Cabdir.exe" and just drag the folder there and it creates it back. As for not showing up it could be the cabbing or something bad in the xml. Uncab it and drag the xml into an open Internet Explorer / Chrome etc.. browser window. It will parse the code and give an error (and clue) if there are any.
  15. Stew, Ron is correct, provided you're in RTE (Rich Text Editor - light switch, upper left corner) mode. Your default forum mode is specified in your forum account settings. If you go to the forum help - here, it will describe all the icons and what they do. Note, some are missing by default but are hidden in the special BBCode dropdown. An example of using the plain text/BBCode (light switch) mode is when I post photos from past flights - it makes it easier to post multiple pictures. [b] BOLD TEXT WILL GO HERE [img=Link from photo hosting site] MORE BOLD TEXT [img=Another link from photo hosting site] MORE BOLD TEXT [img=Another link from photo hosting site] [/b] EDIT - I see you posted as I did... Did some quick tests and.. Do not know why "OK" is not enabled for you. Maybe one must be a race team member? Jeff may be able to answer that.. Was the link correctly formatted IE " http://www. ~~~~~ "? A last ditch effort is to just post the link as plain text, it should show up. Example below for Psychedelic Weather. http://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/isobaric/500hPa/equirectangular EDIT AGAIN - THE ABOVE LINK WAS JUST PASTED AS PLAIN TEXT AND THE FORUM PARSED IT AS A HYPERLINK. SO THAT MAY BE AN ALTERNATE WAY INSTEAD OF EMBEDDING THE LINK WITHIN TEXT UNTIL IT IS FOUND OUT WHY.
  16. Mike, One more for you - re: Charles Schulz themed.
  17. In your case above you are using L:Vars for some kind of logic behind FS. These will default to 0 on plane load whereas the use of the stock FS variables for display elements will show the state of FS as it is. When using L:Vars for logic to control FS actions and element displays it is a good idea to initialize the L:Var(s) to reflect the state of FS on gauge load. An example, not related to any logic you may have in the system... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <Gauge Name="Battery Switch" Version="1.0"> <!-- INITIALIZATION SECTION, DO ONCE AT GAUGE LOAD --> <Update> (G:Var1) 0 == if{ (A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, bool) ! (>L:BATTERY_MASTER, enum) 1 (>G:Var1) } </Update> <!-- END INITIALIZATION SECTION --> <Element> <Visible>(L:SHOW_LIGHTS_EP, bool)</Visible> <Element> <Image Name="switch_w_off.bmp" Bright="Yes"/> </Element> ....... And on & on & on
  18. No idea.. Either everything after point 5 is nulled or only the last point 5 (and onward) is used. Similar to the effect if a duplicate [fltsim.X] is used for a repaint. Advise to just renumber them - point.5 thru point.10 . Remember to verify/change max_number_of_points = XX in the [contact_points] section to suit.
  19. Stew, Like you, I use Plan-G for the actual flight specially for situational awareness. (Where is everyone? "I Need a vector Victor" ) I use SkyVector preflight to check the WX - "Layers" menu (winds/radar), MEA's etc.. During the flight I occasionally use it to find/verify certain things not provided by Plan-G - Railroad lines, dams, power lines, obstacles, real life warnings/airport information (SV links) etc.. Mostly I use it to hone the rusty "real life" map usage skills.. "Minimized and accessed when needed?" -> Yes. A new tip!! - Remember the old style flight plan window listing of the waypoints in SV? IT'S STILL THERE! :Applause: It's just switchable now. Look for a toggle switch to the left of the "X" (flight plan window close) - that will do it.
  20. In the custom draw section of the GPS (<CustomDraw Name="fs9gps:map"....>) there are attributes that can be assigned. I haven't tested all of them but you may try these. ( From XML Gauge Maps SDK) ColorLayerIntersectionsEnroute [int] [RGB value] ColorLayerIntersectionsTerminal [int] [RGB value] TextColorLayerIntersections [int] [RGB value] And below is an example of how it MAY work - in FSX+ syntax - Just needs testing. <CustomDraw id="CustomDraw" Name="fs9gps:map"> <Size>170,170</Size> <Bright>True</Bright> <!-- POSSIBLY MORE STUFF --> <CustomDrawParam Name="ColorLayerIntersectionsEnroute"><Value>0x9393C6</Value></CustomDrawParam> <CustomDrawParam Name="ColorLayerIntersectionsTerminal"><Value>0x9393C6</Value></CustomDrawParam> <CustomDrawParam Name="TextColorLayerIntersections"><Value>0x9393C6</Value></CustomDrawParam> <!-- POSSIBLY MORE STUFF --> </CustomDraw>
  21. A few shots from yesterday's enjoyable flight. No comments as we are having a pretty nasty t-storm right now, need to shut the computer down. (LOTS of Lightning!) Can you believe that? December 14th at the so called "Frozen Tundra", this is just not right.
  22. Mike, this one's got your name on it... And everyone else's too. It's not Vince Guaraldi, but it'll do it in spades.
  23. Will be there guys.. But ~ 30 to 60 minutes late. It's those darn snow tires (Ron = intermediate rains) on a car driving in "fiddy" degree weather! ( ) Will have the mice running in their caged wheels ( my pc ) prior, so just a few clicks...... This one is non-negotiable.
