I have a strange problem in as much as I can only operate carburettor heat if the auto_ignition line in the aircraft.cfg file is commented out. But that then stops me starting the engine in the usual way and I have to resort to CTRL+E to start up. Weird :wink: Does anyone have any ideas - no matter how ridiculous - that I might try so as to solve this problem. It is only happening on one aircraft which is Peter McLelland's Bandit turbo conversion of the Dreamfleet/Flight 1 Piper Archer II. Oh! I have tried the usual trick of starting up with the default a/c and flight with no success. Many thanks. Dijvid

The copyright issues are likely to be with the original painter and Polar Cargo, not PMDG. If in doubt then don't do it - better to be safe than sorry! Dijvid

On the first FS2004 CD - CD number 1 - you will find a folder called GAME. Open it in Explorer and you will see the fs9.exe file which you can just copy over to the FS2004 root folder on your PC. Hope this helps. Dijvid

When I couldn't find the texture I wanted for one of my aircraft - it was for my own virtual outfit - I created it myself. It's not that difficult and there's lots of help in the forums to do this if you need it. Apart from that, who is the developer of the 747 you are needing textures for? You can't use just any texture as it has to be created specifically for that developer's product. Have a look in the file library at the "other" sim website. They have several Polar Cargo textures - who knows, one of them may be just what you are looking for?? Dijvid

I just uninstall it via the usual Windows option and then reinstall. Be careful if you use FlightSim Commander as I have found that CH overwrites some of the FSC's DLLs and I have reinstall FSC as well. Dijvid

Oh yes, they do wear out - sorry! 3 years does seem a bit early though. I've had my latest one getting on for 10 years now and it still works OK - and hope it continues! Some people take the things to pieces [have a look at You Tube] and replace, or clean, the potentiometers but if you're not a techie [i'm not either!] then if you are sure it is the yoke which has gone south then the only way is to buy a new one. My aversion to buying software which involves activation or any other means whereby control of my use of the software lies with a third party [i have been caught out by this on a couple of occasions in the past] led me to reinstall the CD version of the Flight1/Dreamfleet Piper PA28 Archer II. The CD version generates its own key without recourse to the Internet. I have to say that it's an absolute joy to fly this aircraft. Yes, it was created not long after FS2004 was released and it does show its age as far as some of the graphics are concerned but having made a few relatively minor tweaks to suit my own preferences it really is a delight to fly. However, there is one thing that I would like some help on if anyone knows how - and it's this. I have installed the Friendly Panel's autopilot gauge and whilst many aircraft lock onto the Localiser with a high degree of precision this particular Archer has a tendency to "go through" the LOC to the "other side" before slowly coming back and then tracking the LOC accurately. I would guess that there might be a parameter in the .air file which could benefit from a tweak but I don't know which one. Does anyone have any ideas, please? Many thanks for any suggestions. Thanks for the replies and the report from Active Sky. As a matter of interest when I use the ilmailus website it says "No data found" for METARs and TAFs!! Oh well, ho-hum, etc!!!! Dijvid

For several days now there has been no official aviation wx reports from EFKE Kemi-Tornio airport in Finland. I have checked several aviation wx sites but they all say the same thing. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I assume that ATIS works there but as I'm several hundred miles away from EFKE I can't check this out. Dijvid

Do you fly with the 2D panel or the VC? I'm talking about the VC panel as I find that much more realistic. Dijvid

I bought the iFly B737. It's a great aircraft to own but a killer on fps - so much so that I don't use it any more, which is a shame as I have a fairly up-market rig. Dijvid

Temporarily rename your fs9.cfg file, restart the sim and let it build a new file. Can you now get the brakes working? Just a thought and, who knows, it might lead you to a solution??!! Dijvid

Well, the No CD crack certainly does work as many, many people will attest. Dijvid

When I have finished a flight I press the "ESC" key which then displays a menu from which I select "End flight". This then returns me to the "Select a flight" screen where I can either create a new flight or select one which has already been saved. Hope this helps. Dijvid

No, Scott, don't hold your breath! I'm using Windows 7 and have the Dreamfleet/Flight1 Piper Archer III. Since buying it Flight1 have released a newer version of their wrapper and I cannot now install the Archer because I bought it with an old wrapper. When I asked them is they could do anything about this they said "No!" I don't understand why that is but I just have to accept it as I'm damned if I'm going to buy it again from them. In fact, I resolutely refuse to buy anything from them again. This highlights my intense dislike of any method of purchase where I have to put my faith for continued future us with a third party. You will just have to get used to the fact that Microsoft's world does not revolve around the, now, 12/13 years old FS2004. They certainly ain't gonna fix this problem - ever! As the previous poster says - if it ain't broke in Win7 .... Dijvid

If the text boxes are filled in correctly then that's unlikely to be the cause of your problem. However, if you use Lee Swordy's AFCAD program then the airport properties are not greyed out so it seems that greying out is a "feature" of ADE9X! Goodness knows why! A thought - you do have the appropriate area for your airport activated in FS9's scenery database? Yea, I know it's clutching at straws! Dijvid
