  1. Ah! AI traffic didn't occur to me as I have never used it. All those planes buzzing around would, I'm sure, add to the immersion factor but I wouldn't like them slowing down my PC! Dijvid
  2. Well, I do have the problem myself but I didn't know until you pointed it out and I did a test myself. Before then I had never flown to ESGP. I do have this sort of problem at a small handful of other airports but it doesn't bother me as I always start a flight from a gate or ramp, not a runway, and I use the slew keys, if necessary, to re-position my aircraft. Djvid
  3. Swedflight has a few AFCADs included in their downloads but AFAIK that's all there is. I am not aware that there are any other AFCADs out there that you can doanload. If I need to make any amendments and I don't have a Swedflight AFCAD then I copy over the FS9 default AFCAD and use that. Dijvid
  4. The default FS9 AFCAD file for ESGP is in the ....\scenery\eurw\scenery\AP951110.BGL file and FS9 aligns perfectly on the runway using the stock version of the airport. However, your post seems to suggest that you might be using a third party version of this airport in which case which developer? Just as a matter of interest I do quite a bit of flying in Sweden. Dijvid
  5. Long shot here, but how did you uninstall it? Could be that some items in the Registry are screwed in which case you might consider getting the Registry Repair tool from Flight1's website? As I said, just a thought. Dijvid
  6. You're not that far off it now. Get one of the latest jet airliners, plug a few bits of data into the fmc and spend the next 10 hours staring at the screen as your aircraft flies you across the ocean. In the real world the data for the fmc can now be downloaded from the company database and the fmc is automatically updated. A bit like loading a FS9 flight plan into the fmc. I think we are beginning to leave the hobby of flight simulation and entering the hobby of systems simulation - seriously!! Dijvid
  7. As an aficionado of St Helena - my interest in the island goes back 20 odd years - I personally think they are doing a very good job considering the remoteness of the place. I certainly would not criticise them as I have no experience or expertise in designing and building airports. Considering the SS St Helena has reached the end of its useful life building an airport on the island is the only, and sensible, option to take. Dijvid
  8. Go to Settings/General and uncheck the "Pause on task switch" box. Dijvid
  9.  Surprised you had time to sim anyway Sorry, couldn't resist this one  Congrats, and don't forget the two things he must do as soon as possible - fly the sim and learn to text. In that order  Dijvid
  10. Hi Gavin There is a SDK about this. I think it's the special effects one which should be available from the Avsim library. It should tell you everything about strobe lighting. I have the Dreamflett Piper Archer II and its strobes flash independently. I also have the Real Air Simulations SF260 and their strobes flash in unison even though I slowed the flash rate down. So I compared the effects files for both aircraft and the entries were exactly the same in both - which doesn't help  I have to admit that I have never consulted the relevant SDK, so maybe I should  Dijvid
  11. Many years ago I used to know someone who flew the Aerowinx B747 across the Atlantic in real time and sat at his sim all through the night until he got to his arrival airport. That's "real" simming :excl: Dijvid
  12. Ah, yes! But history has a tendency to repeat itself and if and when we get to a 6 GHz CPU developers will, by then, be pushing out stuff which will need a 9 or 10 GHz CPU. Isn't this what they call "progress"??!! Dijvid
  13. I thought that it was just the RXP gauges which didn't work in Windows 7 64bit. If you ask over at the Flight1 forum I'm sure they will give you a definitive answer. Dijvid
  14. This could be a texture problem or even a rogue .bgl file. Reinstall EGQL and temporarily move some, but not all, textures to a temporary folder on your PC. Now see if this fixes the problem. If it doesn't then those textures are OK so move them back and try another bunch of textures. If all your textures are OK then try the same with the .bgl files. I am assuming that the download only installs the scenery and texture folders and nothing to anywhere else - can't check this myself as I see the download is a .exe file. Dijvid
  15. This sounds as though a known Windows update which disables your CD drive has been installed on your PC. If this is the case then there are two solutions: 1.. A search of the flight simulation forums will tell you what the update is so that you can uninstall it - sorry, but I don't know which update this is. This is the hard way! 2.. Install the no CD patch. This is the easy way!! Take your choice!! Dijvid
  16. Be prepared to wait forever then!! It's been a torrent download since before I can remember when and I doubt very much that NL2000 will feel that sorry for us FS9ers and make it available as a direct download from their server. After all, it's a massive file size and there's the small matter of pursuing development for FSX now which will probably get in the way as well. Sorry to be so negative. Dijvid
  17. Hi Raul Send me a PM with your personal e-mail address and I'll send you the 82 page OPs Manual. Dijvid
  18. Oh no! Let's not go down the eBay route! BTW, unless I'm very much mistaken about your Avtar, aren't you the guy in the running for the presidential election Dijvid
  19. I use Friendly Panels Garmin, radio, AP, etc gauges in place of RXP and like them very much. Many thanks for the info about the carb heat lever - that's another thing I've learnt now!! Dijvid
  20. Hi Raul I only have a 32 bit system but I used to e-mail regularly with another guy here in the UK who bought the Dreamfleet Baron which he said worked OK on his 64 bit Windows 7. So I guess that the A36 and the Archer III would also be OK. However, the RXP gauges don't work in 64 bit. What's more, the RXP Garmin takes up 25% of processor time which is a lot when you consider that the sim itself is very CPU intensive. Also, the database is terribly out of date [something like 12 years] and you cannot import any flight plans into the GPS. I did hear that there was a more up to date database for the Garmin but not done by Reality themselves. I run the A36 and Baron but have disabled the RXP stuff which was a bit of a job to do. This now causes error messages when firing up the aircraft and sometimes a crash when I close the sim but otherwise the aircraft fly fine. Hope this helps. Dijvid
  21. There's loads of stuff all over the place in FS2004 that I don't understand  Try making a copy of FS9.cfg and then altering the variables you mention and see what happens. You won't break your PC or the sim and you can always go back to the original cfg file. Who knows what you might discover :o Dijvid
  22. If you do then you might like to have a look at this site and click on the Links button. There you will find a very nice turbo charged version of the Archer II. I fly this and have modded it a bit further so I get a cruise of 160 kts and a ceiling of 20,000' www.petermcleland.com Have fun! Dijvid
  23. I fly the Dreamfleet Piper Archer II and find that the carb heat lever doesn't work, no matter what I try. Some of the older stuff can give the odd glitch or two in Windows 7. So I just live with it. Nothing is ever going to separate me from my beloved FS9!! Dijvid
  24. Do you know anyone with a 32bit version of Windows who would let you install it on their PC? You could then copy it over to your own PC???? Just a thought, that's all. Dijvid
  25. Magnetic variation? Just a guess? I used to have FSNav but that was many, many years ago and I never used it to follow my flight path. Dijvid
