I am not asking anybody to agree or disagree with me. This is a comment on what I see personally. I am willing to learn, so if any good Vidio or articles have helped you improve your experience with any of the sims, please direct us all.

I have been involved in flight Simulation since the days of the Link Trainer (yes, I am old). I have owned most of the significant computer simulators since the Bruce Artwick Sublogic simulator around 1979, including the Lockheed Martin 3D and all flight simulator versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator. I now have the latest X-Plane 12 and MSFS 2020-2024. There have been tremendous improvements, especially in graphics. So, I am down to the latest three and feel qualified to comment on them. X-Plane 12 is an excellent Flight Simulator. The graphics are not as good as those in Microsoft versions but still excellent. Its aircraft flight dynamics are superior to those in Microsoft, and if your goal is to learn to fly and maintain your flying abilities, this simulator is for you. MSFS2020 has been moved to a simulation that seems more focused on gaming support. This means there's a greater emphasis on features that make the simulator more entertaining and accessible to a wider audience rather than just being a tool for learning and practising flying. It is still an excellent simulator, but the aircraft dynamics are functional but poor. The graphics are excellent but far from perfect compared to the real world. MSFS2024 is just starting, and it's unfair to criticise too much, but why did they make significant changes to the basic keyboard and Joystick configuration? These changes have made setting up and using the controls more difficult, even after hours of tweaking. The Aircraft dynamics are also not up to par. For instance, if you get in a 172 exterior view and watch the rudder function, you'll notice that it's nowhere near a true representation of actual aerodynamics. Pitty, the poor passengers. I feel the graphics in 2024 are inferior to 2020. I have not had time to compare the world, but the topography in my area is way inferior to that of 2020. There is good vegetation but too much. An open golf course with few trees is simulated like a golf course in a forest. Hopefully, things will improve, but if I want to fly technically, I fly X-Plane 12. If I want to have fun and go somewhere I have never been, I use MSFS 2020. Until they clean up 2024, I leave it on my hard drive to rest. That’s where I am.
  3. I live in Western Canada, and FS2024 is less realistic than 2020. There are way too many trees. The graphics are otherwise almost the same; whilst impressive for a simulator, they are not close to real life. There is a simulated building where I live, but the structures are unrealistic. It may be better in the more populated areas, but frankly, the graphics in 2024 are no improvement and are even worse than in 2020.
  4. It is interesting to read the comments. The following is not to be read as a criticism of the aircraft or Majestic as I found Majestic support to be very prompt and helpful. I just hope there may be some information in my comments that helps other Majestic owners who have problems. Obviously all computers are not the same and much of the problems were my setup rather than Majestic. This is the chronological order of events: - First I had DiectX problems – more to do with Microsoft than Majestic but Q400 would not load with the wheels down. I re-installed several times and even re-formatted my Hard Drive to find a solution but little success. Majestic sent a notice of upgrade but unfortunately after I downloaded the new version and went to install it I got a message from Majestic “Installs Exhausted.” Several e-mails later the install was re-opened. The latest version loaded but was totally unstable. It “bounced” all over the place. More contact with Majestic and they sent me a new aircraft.cfs, new mjc84_main.dll for the panel folder. Some improvement but still impossible to fly and land. Made sure FSUIPC situation saving was de-activated as well as other Majestic suggestions. Things were improving but still some instability and bouncing during taxi and pushback. Not bad if I started the flight from the active runway but it was impossible to land. Believe me I practiced and I should know how to land as I have been simming since the beginning and was a comercial pilot. I read the forums etc. Made sure airspeed was 130k with power on etc. etc. but it still was almost impossible on my computer. I kept looking and saw in an Avsim forum to remove the Shader files in "....apdata/local/Microsoft/FSX" which I did. This definitely made a difference but the bouncing still happened and landing was still difficult even though there was improvement. It was interesting that the instability recurred after a few flights but removing the Shader Folders again settled things down. Further reading brought me to http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html. I used their Tweaking and Tuning tool and things started to improve. Bouncing stabilized but frame rates still slow, especially at complex airports. So the problem seemed in my setup for FSX and the settings on my computer. I reviewed my system and decided I needed more RAM. I added 4G and now have 8. I am happy to say I can now fly the aircraft. It models well with FR about 15-20. There is a lot to learn to make everything work properly which adds to the enjoyment of simming. Practice is needed especially in the landing phase but I have just completed successfully an around Australia flight with stops about 1/2-11/2 hrs. apart. The only other aircraft I have in my stable that can do that and resemble true airline functionality would be is the PMDG JS41 which I envoy as well. Cheers Rob Ross
  5. Open the Carenado folder for the 340 and there is the PDF file which opens as all PDF files do and you can enlarge it.
  6. My RPM gauge; I can see the ground trough it. See next post.Rob R.
  7. Most 337 were Turbocharged but the model is non turbo and non pressurized. Rob R.
  8. I think I have solved the problem. I reinstalled everything not SDK. When I did everything worked. It is very early in the redevelopment but it looks good. I still do not have a reply from the my reply to the support ticket!Rob Ross
  9. No further reply yet.
  10. I have now re-installed FX and Acceleration no Addons - a totally clean FSX install and re-installed J41 - still no EFIS! :( :(
  11. Yes they are and I have sent in a support ticket. If solution comes i will report it in case others have a similar problem.Rob Ross
  12. I have installed Jetstream 41 and the EFIS will not turn on. I have re-installed with admin priv on Windows 7 64-bit. I start with the default flight at Friday harbour. I have acceleration installed. I can start the engines and everything works including the FMC but the EFIS does not light up. I wait many minutes with no results.Any suggestions?Rob Ross
  13. Recently upgraded my computer to Windows 7-64 bit. Installed FS9 which loaded OK but when I change the window view nothing happens to the view but the sound alters as though the view has changed and opening the view menu the cursor points to the selected window but the actual window has not changed. Any one else had a similar experience and what is the solution? I have re-installed and added the upgrade but no change in the problem.
  14. Thanks Todd, I have added many scenery files lately so it could be the cause. I have since re-installed FS9 at this time the headings are OK but time will tell. The idea of de-installing and then re-installing scenery seems rather daunting!Rob
  15. I was loading my FS9 at Seattle and on the default Cessna I noticed the compass and DG heading on the Runway 34R showed 360. The actual heading of course is 340. Am I indicating true headings not magnetic and if so how do I change it? :(
  16. Yes I did. I think I may have found the problem and thanks for the input. It may be my power supply. Reading through the posts the power supply was mentioned and I ran a program called BCM Health Monitor and it shows all the voltages out of limits. I checked the supply and find it is only 300watts, which in the posts suggest might be too low for the graphics card I have. All other systems checked out OK. I will now go and talk with my IT person and get some more advice. There may also be some problems with he cooling fans even though in the BIOS the alarms are not activated and show the temp to be normal (BCM says the fans are running too slow). I again thank you for your post and subsequent threads. If I cannot solve the problem I cannot fly as CTD are all too prevalent.
  17. Thanks I will work through the suggestions. Sorry for the CDT's I obviously meant CTD's - too late now
  18. I have just about had enough of CDT's. Almost all my flight end suddenly in a CDT or a frozen computer. I have removed duplicate textures, scenery errors, duplicate AFCAD's, defraged memory and hard drives, bought "Ultimate Trouble Shooter" and removed as many resident programs that can sensibly be done. I have also cleaned up my registry with "Registry Healer" and incorported all the "tweeks" I can find in the posts in this forum. Still CTD's so I re-installed FS9 in a separate partition - a brand new install. I removed all traces of FS9 on any drive prior to the re-install.First flight in the default cessna from Seattle and sudenly a black screen and frozen! Nothing has been added or changed. I run Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 on a AMD 64 Processor 3000+ with 1024MB RAM with graphics NVIDA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra with 256 RAM. I am at a loss as what to do now. Any suggestions or should i just give up?
  19. I have been trying to get this program to work. I do not seem to be able to get the URL's showning. Are they down or am I doig it wrong? I followed the directions in the setup file and have the folders in GoogleEarth as described minus the aircraft, AI etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
  20. I cannot connect to the web pages. You said "Most critical is to make sure you get the port numbers right in MyFSGoogleEarth". How do you get the right port numbers?
  21. Hi all,I wish I could tell you why I have corrected the problem but most of the time multiplayer now works. I did a re-install (which I had done previously) and this time it usually works and if it does not I have to start as a host close it down and then it will join. It is a complete mystery to me as to why this time it was successful. I had made all the changes previously suggested but no cigar. A real mystery.Rob Ross
