  1. Hi John,I have remained quiet to this point, but I really have to say something because you do not represent all developers here.
  2. Boo Boo approach? Only at Avsim can you come in as an alias, spread any kind of mis-information you choose, and tell the developer he must not say a thing lest he be deemed unprofessional and be classified as boo boo. That is what the "trend" is not only lately, but has been for a long time. The truth is, Avsim should be handling these things so that there is a balance that doesnt tip in either obvious direction. But they don't.Too much time wasted on this subject.
  3. As usual, The predictable and thankfully few Avsim "wood shed" crew tries to lay the blame on the developers and instruct them on how they must act in public. Thankfully, most of my work has nothing to do with entertainment these days. I just came in by chance and saw an oppourtunity to correct a few misreported claims. And sure enough... the spank patrol is alive and well.I really don't care what the predictable few think of what I say or feel. I will nail anyone I see that is not telling the truth about our products or misrepresenting them.Thankfully again those "select few" don't add up to much anyway but for some reason it appears they are allowed to run rampant here at Avsim. Its the same old story...So spank away... I have more important things to do with my time.Or... come over to my forum where we can address your issues and also validate our relationship and you will have our full undivided attention."Spankmeister1" or "WoodshedFred" doesnt tell me a thing about you or that you are even legit. Did I just imply the "P" word? Yes I did. You have no idea how many pirates come to our forums asking for help or complaining. Thus why we have started doing more registered forums. If you are going to take us to task in a non support public forum, give us a name. You know ours. Pony up or zip it. Or Private message us, otherwise? Its just WoodshedFred to me.I have to agree with Ron and Damien. Some of you guys are destroying the hobby.
  4. The point remains... a developer has every right to defend misrepresentation. Period.
  5. Tore,Right. It is my choice, and it may not be what you would like to see from me, but I prefer not to allow my product misrepresented anymore than you would like someone talking inaccuratly about what you do or who you know.Professionalism works both ways. There seems to be some unwritten law on Avsim that the developer should just shut up and be a good little boy and not contest anything or comment.Well... that just doesn't work for me. We make good quality products, we back them up with the best gaurantee in the business, but I won't be told to sit in a corner and not comment or reserve my comments. It's a two way street. Like I said before and I will repeat... if you treat me (us) with respect (same as you expect from me) you will get it ten fold. You treat me less than that. I will be your huckleberry (Ron knows what I mean) The 182 is a great product with lots of love, hard work and attention to detail. I am a Commercial pilot first and foremost, and I believe what my team and I do reflects that in most of our products. And you have 30 days to decide if we are right or if I should just sit in the corner. Either way you win.Regards,Jim Rhoads
  6. My post is very much on topic. If you publicly claim something else has more functionality than another product, you need to be able to back that point up. Also making mention of the Bird S... tells me (and others) you most likely did not read the manual. As the shop keeper, I don't want my product misrepresented by opinion and unfounded claim, so the tone is what it is. Our products are our bread and butter, so you can bet if I see mis-representation, I will call it and if someone continues to ignore my point, I might get thier attention. My shop, my product, you treat me with dignity, you get it double back. if not, you may not.I won't compare Mindstar vs. F1 with respect to the G1000, but anyone that has both and has intently studied both, knows both. And the above comments were made in error.
  7. Son, I know my game, I know the players, I know my product and I know the G1000 like nobodies business. We are not off topic, and you are in error and I would suggest a refund because you do not seem satisfied. That's the great thing about the F1 policy.
  8. You are in error. And Greta? That's the real G1000 sound file. Guess you will have to complain to them.
  9. Actually... I don't think you have read your manual or you would never have made that statment. WAAS approaches? Coupled Procedure Turns and Holds etc. etc....Before you come in trashing a product, you should learn more about it because you are in error.
  10. There is no bait, or misinterpretation by me. You made the Cessna comment. I simply am responding to it and clarifying that statement as inaccurate. If you are going to make a statment, make sure it is accurate. Its that simple. Besides that, thank you, I apprecaite it and your support. Jim
  11. Don't confuse Flight1 for Flight1 Tech. And... where in the world are you getting the idea Cessna and F1 are not still working on things. That is simply inaccurate and more percieved propaganda. Jim
  12. The Mustang, 182, upcoming 162 and most of our FSX our titles are licensed for use in FSX only. Jim
  13. Now John....when the ticker tape and fan fare fades, the law of the land prevails. Welcome to the club. Jim
  14. Actually....Tierborn is right, although we do give the benefit of the doubt.Every time we issue a credit, it does indeed cost us money. So even though we extend the courtesy and we never squabble about it, please understand that it may not cost you, but it does cost us.Regardless, we honor our policy.Jim
  15. The post was to Chock and avsim policy, not to customers or potential ones. Stick to the fact and don't distort my message. At this point, I have no further comments nor will I inhabit this forum any longer. I have more important things to do than entertain the avsim pissing matches. After over 10 years of access here, I am no longer interest in the debates. have fun. I'm out.
  16. So when has it became policy that Avsim Staff determines that a price point is really off the mark? Comparing the T182T with a J-41, a stratocruiser, cub, etc, is like comparing a banana to a stove bolt. The G1000 alone in this aircraft is the most advanced G1000 for entertainment there is bar none. Some add-on G1000's cost exactly the same amount as this entire aircraft package and do less. And there is an awful, awful lot going on it that simulation alone that is beyond any of your aforementioned products (with no disrespect to any of them) If you are not able to appreciate what it is and what it can do, it is a great disservice for you to paint a picture that it isn't worth it just because it isn't something you would typically fly. Its value is appropriate for a person that can appreciate the complexity that this aircraft offers and although you may not think it is as complex as a 737, it can do some things that even a 737 cannot do. The fact that you call it a "fancy gauge" tells me that this is not an aircraft for you, but why do you assume it isn't a value to someone else? You are entitled to your opinion, but just like us that have the "Commercial" moniker placed on us, you have the Avsim Staff Moniker and I do not appreciate a public statement with an Avsim moniker that says anybodies product is good, bad, indifferent or too high priced. You should remain neutral. That is for the customer to decide and they simply cannot lose a dime because of our refund policy which is #1 in the industry.Jim Rhoads
  17. ah ah.... it is not official released. It was a private forum members release. hiccups and all.Oh well..... :(
  18. I spoke with the developer and he is considering adding this feature in the future. Jim
  19. Thanks Mitch. I guess its really whatever the customer is comfortable with. As you have seen stated here, two polar opposite policies, one that gives you the benefit of the doubt, one that does not. Your call as a customer... maybe we are nuts. Could be, but we want you to be happy with your purchase or it does neither one of us any good in the long run.Jim
  20. What is good to one person can be crap to another. Some reviews can be more flawed than the product, and word of mouth can be a virtual food fight. One thing I might add, is that when a developer uses our system and if there is a refund, the developer does not pay for the charge back fees. We do, so it becomes an even wash for the developer. Look, like you I don't like the potential of fraud either, but it happens. It's a reality of doing business in any fashion. But like I said, most people are honest and we support them in their purchases whatever decision they make. But I disagree on one point, the refund policy is never irrelevant. That puts the entire burden on the customer and that isn't really fair.Jim
  21. Go read what I said. We give the customer the benefit of the doubt. You asked for a refund. We gave you one and we didn't badger you about your decision right? Its your money, your choice. We accept that and stand by your decision.Jim
  22. Hi Ernie,Sorry you feel that way. I totally agree with you that asking a refund to teach a lesson rather than dissatisfaction of the product does seem border line,But we still give the customer the benefit of the doubt. We simply offer a system that treats people the way we would want to be treated as a customer. We have found that most people are honest and few abuse the system. Plus we will deactivate the account if a refund is requested or abuse of any kind is shown in any way or if a pattern is detected. The truth is, out and out piracy is a bigger problem than potential players of the refund system. As you well know, FSX in itself can produce inconsistent results at times let alone stacking add-ons and add-ons on top of it with who knows what kind of system maintenance etc. is being performed. So many times dissatisfaction is at the hands of the user and not always the product. Regardless, we trust our customers and assume that will instill trust back to us as a vendor. I always like to know that if I buy something, and I am not happy, I have a way out. And knowing that, I will always consider purchasing from that vendor again in the future.Regards,Jim RhoadsFlight1
  23. And that "other way" is stealing.I am amazed at how many people will justify downloading, hex editing and modifying data that Jeppesen sells, so that they can use it in FS.Its theft and if you choose to do it, you are choosing to steal to get what you want.We had to shut down a thread in the RXP forum (that we support) because some people were explicitly showing how to do it with pictures and all.The ramifications could have rolled on us because we house the forum. I find it more than disturbing when people will go out of their way to find deceitful practices to support their hobby. Many of you are trying to emulate real world aviation applications. But you won't find the afore mentioned behavior happening in real world aviation because most people understand the costs and either accept them or find an alternative method to accomplish their needs. I find it very disgusting and another reason that more and more of my efforts are being channeled to real world use rather than entertainment.
  24. Because FSX is built on top of legacy code, poorly coded / optimized flight simulator that needs current hardware, proper setup and configuration and good system maintenance.Add to that fact, many want it to be something that it was never intended to be. Its a flight simulator, not the holodeck on the Starship Enterprise.Where you can gaze at birdies, shiny door knobs on hangar doors, blades of grass and boats on trailers in the parking lot. If those are the things you want, you will always be challenged and will need to do something beyond just tweaks. Or if you decide to use tweaks instead of hardware, you have to be willing to understand there are trade offs and anomalies to be expected.
