  1. I flew into Ketchikan 20+ years ago. To get from the airport to town is via ferry. The infamous bridge to nowhere was actually a bridge to the airport.Mike
  2. Gentlemen,I have greatly enjoyed my TH2G system with three monitors. At the moment, I am using an ATI 4870/512 video card. Will something newer or with more memory help with framerates?
  3. Are you selecting APP and not NAV for the ILS. NAV will not capture the Glideslope. Also, you must be at or below the glideslope for it to capture. Typical ILS procedures are setup with a initial intercept of appx. 1500 AGL and 5 NM from airport. Approach the final approach fix at 1500 AGL with APP armed and all should go as advertised.Mike
  4. Usually high and hot such as Denver at 95 degrees.
  5. Can one mix a 16x9 center monitor with two 4x3 monitors with TH2G? Will one need to go to the digital TH2G to get this? Thanks,Mike
  6. Real world FMS equipment packages approaches. Procedure turn is a part of the approach depending on the transition selected. One other feature is that when shooting a GPS approach if you try and modify the procedure in any way such as adding or deleting waypoints then the procedure will never activate. Without activation and an APP annumciation you get no VNAV and no scale reduction.Mike
  7. I just had a hard drive go bad. After replacing hard drive and reinstalling Windows Ultimate 64 bit, I have used the provided CD to install TripleHead2Go (Analog). I've got three monitors to use, each 1280 x 1024. The highest resolution I am offered is 2400 x 600. My video card is a ATI 4870. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Mike Eppright (KICT)
  8. When I try and open "Documents and Settings" to access FSX.CFG, I get a "Access Denied" message. I have looked to make sure system files are not hidden. What am I missing? Thanks,Mike

    unknown jet

The McDonald 119/220 you picture did exist and lost the military competition to the Jetstar. Back in the '70s after college, I used to fly charters into Albuquerque, NM. Back behind the Cutter Aviation ramp to the northwest was where the 119 prototype sat for years. My understanding was that at some point the owner wrangled a ferry permit to move it to Phoenix. I also understand that it was an embarrasment to McDonald Douglas and that MD spent bookoo buckaroos trying to get legal custody of the bird so as to destroy it. Personally, I always thought it a beautiful looking B1RD!
  10. I had the same problem. What I discovered is that the items you are seeking in the documents & settings is a XP location. Those items in Vista are located in the Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\. Such as FSX.cfg.Good luck
  11. Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention. My prayer is that the individual FSX programmers are sought out by aftermarket developers or better yet start enterprizes of their own. As for economic stimulus, I had previously thought I'd wait to upgrade to I7 equipment until the next FS version came out. That excuse just evaporated so maybe planning and spending will ensue :-)
  12. Thanks, I did just that last night. Today I followed through on reinstalling Instant Scenery. With it, I have placed the jetways I wanted. I will also check out the thread you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestions. Thats why I keep coming back.
  13. I thought of that and went back and specified sparse without improvement.
  14. I am developing the airline terminal at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. All is going OK except some jetways I place with AFX display and others do not. I've confirmed non of the AFX exclude files are apparently excluding these. Any other ideas?
  15. I just played with the Nvidia control panel and adjusting the Gamma setting seemed to help the issue. Thanks
  16. Ever since I upgraded from XP to Vista, the smaller fonts in Internet Explorer are grayed out of faint to the point of difficult to read. Is this a Vista issue or is it video card related? Thanks,Mike
  17. Phil,Thanks for the contributions you've made to the FS world. Please don't let the flamers of the world drag you down. You are doing your best. There will always be those that will whine if you hung them with a new rope :-) .
  18. Bill,This same thing happened a few years ago to me. I thought the HD add died. In the end it was the memory. Good luck.
  19. The video you reference is actually a CJ2 Citation owned by a European concern that landed downwind on a short wet runway that turbine operations were restricted on. It is actually powered by Williams engines.
  20. Dennis,One factor that hasn't been mentioned is "P" Factor. Sitting on the ground, the P-51 has a pronounced tail low attitude. P Factor is the condition where the downswinging blade on the propeller has much more angle of attack and therefore much more pull than the upswinging blade on the other side. This is what creates the left turning motion. You just add power slowly at a rate which your available rudder can control it. Once you raise the tailwheel, most but not all P Factor goes away.By the way, this is the same reason you need slight right rudder in climb out in your 172.
  21. Gentlemen,I bought Acceleration today and installed uneventfully. FSX loads fine but if I select any of the new aircraft of load a scenario that uses a new aircraft, I get the Fatal Error Occurred message and sim quits and reloads. FSX ran great before this.I am running an E6600 with 4 Gigs mem and a GTX8800 video card. I am using Vista Ultimate for op sys.Any suggestion? Thanks
  22. I would guess that you are flying an aircraft with a normally aspirated engine (not turbo charged). If this is the case, as the air thins as you climb, the engine produces less power even if you lean the mixture. Even a jet engine is mormally aspirated. Try flying the 747. See the rate of climb at 250 knots right after takeoff and then check it climbing through 30,000 feet - much less because the air is thinner and the engine output is much less.
  23. The ALT ENTER seems to fix the black screen effect. Onwards and upwards.
