Although not found in the Terms of Service, the very description of the Hangar Chat forum politely enjoins participants to "Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.", is explicitly disallowed as a subject matter for discussion. Although thus far the discussion has been polite and informative, rules need to be enforced or they become pointless. As a result, I am going to reluctantly close and lock this thread before it inevitably goes off the rails entirely. As one may have gathered, this very topic is of interest to me primarily because of my vocation. At the seminary, we proto-priests had some very interesting and sometimes tense debates. 😇😇

Both pilots lost situational awareness having to monitor/use seven com channels, watch the live video screen, and give a play-by-play commentary, it's no wonder they failed to "aviate..."

Although this accident occurred several years ago, I was not aware of it until this evening. Aside from the five news helicopters there was a police helicopter covering the chase of a suspect trying to avoid capture while driving dangerously in stolen vehicles. Compounding the confusion, the pilots of the news helicopters were required to multi-task to a ridiculous degree, even down to providing the live commentary! The latter meant that the pilots had to keep their eyes on a monitor installed on the left side of the instrument panel, instead of his primary responsibility to keep situational awareness of the other helicopters!!! 😱

I was wondering after reading the "Subject" how big a drone would have to be to actually hold an entire display airborne! 😉

I've found that dehydrated water is much easier and lighter to carry for emergencies... 🤭

Remember Trevor Jacob? The YouTuber who parachuted out of his Taylor Craft airplane after claiming he had an engine problem? Well, he recently plead guilty to obstruction of a federal investigation and will have to serve up to two years in prison for his ill-thought-out stunt! Needless to say, he has already lost his pilot license. There may well be other charges as different agencies weigh their options... His friend with the helicopter who carried the wreckage back to his airport may well wind up being charged in the coverup as well.

Noel, all ebikes have pedals, and most have 7-speed Shimano gears, just like regular bikes. The electric motor is there to provide various levels of assistance, but only works while pedaling for the most part. Class 1 has pedal assistance only Class 2 has pedal assistance as well as "throttle control". Class 3 has same as Class 2, but the motor is more powerful than a Class 2. They are just pedal pusher vehicles! 😊

I am posting this as a FINAL update on the donated funds. As I stated any funds left over would be used to help another Veteran in distress. I've started a separate GoFundMe campaign for the very person I had brought home a few weeks ago from the Little Rock VA Hospital. He had undergone lower colon surgery to remove a large mass that nearly blocked his lower intestine. Last year he had a partial thyroidectomy. His 40+ year air conditioner/heater had catastrophic failure and is far past its expiration date. I am not, repeat not asking anyone here to make a donation, but wanted to let you wonderful folks know that you have also helped yet another Veteran in distress! What a lovely and loving bunch of friends!

For several years I participated in JMS's Usegroup (remember those?). He frequently ran by some of his proposed scenarios and solicited the group's suggestions and opinions. JMS was unique amongst sci-fi writers because he essentially planned in great detail the entire five-year B5 story arc long before actually writing the scripts.
