JustFlight L1011 TriStar Released
Has anyone tried to integrate the CIVA INS gauges into the JustFlight L1011? Having the ADEU card reader as part of the deal makes programming so much easier. Ron

basic fsx navdata
If you check the library, you will find that updated fsx navdata is available for some areas -- enterprising simmers have created addon bgl's to achieve this. For example, for Australia, check for "ants_aussie_waypoints.zip"Ron McKeirnan

Many thanks --- those regerenced threads solved the problem easily and excellently!!CheersRon

keyboard
I love the new J41, but am rather new to using virtual cockpit. I find panning awkward, and much prefer to use the set views.Instead of having to cycle through all the cockpit views with the A key, is there a way to assign each of the fixed views to a different key and switch instantly to that view? Would make things so much easier when performing tasks that need you to move quickly. I have searched around but can't find anyhting on this. Many thanksRon McKeirnan

Night lighting

Night lighting
This is a tiny issue with the MD-11 which is such a great addon. At night, no cabin lighting that I can find -- makes it look a bit stealthbomber-ish and unreal. Am I missing something?Ron McKeirnan

sound too loud
Many thanks for the replies.I have started the detective work and found a couple of the "offending" .wav files ; with Audacity I have lowered their volume to an acceptable level, and life is tolerable again in the cockpit!Actually, one add-on designer in his FAQ explains the sound and sells it as strength of his product, saying that in the real aircraft inverter noise was almost overwhelming! But at least real life pilots had headphones to hear ATC etc that mostly blocked out the noise, whereas in the add-on it cannot be reduced or switched off. A matter of tatse maybe. Thanks again for help.Ron

sound too loud
A couple of my add-ons have a very loud and very annoying inverter or aircon packs sound that is constant and can drown out most other cockpit sounds... also this sound does not go off when you hit the Q button for sound off -- it is always there as long as the battery is on!How can one soften the sound or eliminate it??any ideas welcomeRon

re-install single aircraft
Somehow my default fsx B737-800 has become corrupted ...is there any way to re-install just that aircraft from the CD, without having to do a total re-install, with Sp1, Sp2, add ons etc all over again?? the .cab files on the CD are quite unintelligible...any help greatly appreciated.Ron McKeirnan

Tupolev for fsx
Many thanks for the suggestions.I found that illustrated startup guide on the Tupolev forum thanks. It shows lot more gauges and switches than the modified FSX model has -- so I will now just take my time to work through identifying which ones are there, and the order in which they should be operated. Hopefully I'll be up to taxi and take-off within 24 hours!!If I crack the code, I'll prepare an FSX version and post it in hope others may discover the flightsim riches coming out of Russia etc... Just now the Project Team don't seem too keen on developing FSX models as so many of their gauges are of the old .gau type.Ron

Tupolev for fsx
I am interested in adding the Tu-154 to my hangar ... the Project Tupolev series seems excellent in appearance, and much more complete (and complex) in systems than most currently available fsx planes. Unfortunately the models are only for FS2004 and use a number of .gau gauges that won't work in FSX.I have found a "hybrid" version for fsx that uses simplified panels with only fsx compatible gauges. BUT the documentation is only in Russian, and all panel labels are Russian :( No joy in trying to start the engines with the usual ctrl-E...Has anyone succeeded in flying the Tupolev? Is there any helpul english documentation for the PT_Tu-154_VITAMIN model??Many thanksRon McKeirnan

The 'Connie' navigation challenge
FSX now has a vintage airliner that is a total joy to fly and looks so good too: thanks to the team that has given us "Lockheed L-049A Constellation v3.0".This offers us the chance to try 1950's style navigation on transoceanic or transcontinetal flights where VORs and NDBs are few or non-existent.An example:1. Plot a great circle route, say from Auckland to Sydney -- ocean all the way. FSbuild will do it for you, with each waypoint about 100nm apart.2. Each 30 minutes, plot actual position. FSX doesn't let you do radio triangulation, so you can get the data using shift-z for lat/lon position.3. Using Bohumil Stadnik's Orthodromic Calculator (ortho-cities.zip) you can now calculate distance and bearing to nearest waypoint -- which lets you then adjust for wind drift. Or you can calculate your corrected bearing to next waypoint along. If you work at it, you can also calculate the wind speed and direction, check it against the "winds aloft" chart you downloaded before taking off http://aviationweather.gov/iffdp/ ), and adjust your heading accordingly. So a lengthy flight can keep you busy and interested, moreso than just watching a 747 FMS do it all for you. And what a sense of achievement when land finally comes in sight and you are right on target!Just avoid any temptation to check out along the way on the GPS they've included in the package. I have removed mine.Ron McKeirnan

Seeing BLACK Squares where lights should be!
I had the same problem after I purchased Redux 3D lights -- so annoying that I ditched the product and went back to the default fsx lights.Ron

Menu character corruption?
I too am having this problem: the menu is blurred from minor to unreadable at times -- and the ATC window is faded and completely blurred and unusable.I have a radeon X1650 card and am running Vista Business 32 bit -- but this problem only seems to have begun since I recently upgraded the ATI graphics drivers. If I can find my earlier version I may have to revert to that.Ron

blurred menu fsx
I recently began to have a problem in fsx with the menu bar being blurred, often to the point of being unreadableAND the ATC popup was so faint and blurred that it was completely unusable. So I unintsalled fsx, defragged the drive, did a new install of FSX, SP1 and SP2. This did wonders for my fps, but no chnage to the blurring problem. The scenery textures are no problem .. quite sharp.I have a radeon X1650 card, and did recently install the ATI v7.12 drivers for vista 32 bit... could this be the problem?any help will be much apprciatedRon

iFly 747
Having used the iFly 747 several times now, I must say there needs to be some work done on the FMC ... it is very intolerant of any mistakes in data entry etc.. and just crashes FSX. That gets a bit tiresome.Once you manage to get a clean FMC load, it is certainly a joy to fly!Ron

iFly 747
Congratulations to the four gentlemen who have created the freeware iFly 747-400 just posted in the AVSIM library. They may just put PMDG out of business on this aircraft! My initial flights have been excellent - and systems are very complete. The 300 plus page manual is a real bonus too.I just need to sort out some SIDS and STARS for Australian airports and all will be well with FSX flying for mine.Ron

Terrain Level Bounce - Any Suggestions?
Similar problems since I installed SP1 ...when taxiing or at gate, aircraft does unexpected bounce - even if stationary. Outside view looks ridiculous, seeing a lumbering 767 doing a "hop" and a great cloud of smoke gushes from the wheels - and a "grunt" sound accompanies the bounce too!I will investigate the scenery issue, as I have noticed this at airports where I have a second bgl file for afcad overriding the default scenery bgl.Ron

How to Sqwauk Ident with default FSX panels?
In FSInn the top button on your mcp panel 'S' for Standby chnages to 'C' for Charlie when you click on it.Ron

Pop-up panel
FS Panel Studio for FSX lets you do this fairly simply.1. create your pop-up window with gauge(s) .. give it a unique ID2. create a new transparent gauge, using somehting like the ADF_T gauge from the dhc6_sw1.cab as a basis. Edit the click xml to reflect the popup window ID.3. locate the new gauge in the main window where required.4. repeat process to place a new transparent gauge in the popup window to toggle its close. That's it.Ron

Vista black screen
I am getting acceptable results running FSX on VISTA..for example, on ground YBBN get 15-20fps; airborne over Brisbane get 25 fps...I think problem may be video card which has only 256mb ram.Ron

Vista black screen
I am running FSX on Vista Business edition -- no problems EXCEPT....when I change views (mostly from spot to 2d panel, F11 to F10), the screen goes black for a couple of seconds, sometimes twice, sometimes with a "loaded 100%" message flashing briefly. Then the screen returns to normal. This is not a stutter, as the simulation continues on during the blackout -- quite disconcerting if you change views near touchdown!I am running an ATI Radeon 9550 card with the latest ATI Vista drivers on a 3ghz machine with 1 gb memory.Has anyone else experienced this behaviour and/or found a cure? It is spoiling the FSX experience markedly!Ron McKeirnan

Sky Simulation MD 11
I installed both FS2004 and FSX versions all in one hit -- no problems.I just wish there was a manual though!!Ron

boeing stabiliser "flapping"
I have a common problem in some of the add-on Boeing aircraft I have for FSX -- eg CaptainSim 757, Wilco B777, Kittyhawk B737-200 etc...On the ground (stationary and when taxiing), the tail plane / horizontal stab flips up and down continuously .. this only stops once airborne. (I don't see this happening with the default aircraft.)I have tried all sorts of trim and sensitivity adjustments to no avail ... but there must be a simple solution, as I cannot find any other references to this in the forum.Any suggestions muc appreciated!Ron
