  1. Good to see FS++ get involved here. Always have liked their attitude. Hope everyone does send in their specific sentences not being understood with as much detail as possible. Top of my list is going to be able to get through the 10 step setup wizard without any problems showing up. For me, step 9 has been a dissapointment right off the get go. Microsoft Anna does not "understand" some of the commands with no reply at all or she gets it screwed up in some way. This, in itself, does not give me much confidence that MCE is going to be error free in FSX. Speech recognition works flawlessly in Windows 7 and have used it with complete satisfaction, so that is not part of the problem in MCE. Thanks to everyone for all the help. 2. GHarrall, Sorry to say but I'm back into the same frustration of position announcement after installing version 2.4.9.2. Went back to 2.4.8.8 and can't get anywhere near the success I had with this version as stated in my post of June 8 2012. Have actually uninstalled MCE totally and gone back to the mouse/pointer ATC selections. This action gets the instant result that I was hoping MCE would be able to do since purchasing it back in 2011. Not sure what my problem/s might be but I'd rather be flying than tweaking/tinkering so MCE is no longer part of my FSX simming. DickB was a big help with his tweaks for VFR, no copilot wanted etc etc and he seemed to be quite happy with MCE. Edwin Brown Keremeos BC Canada
  3. Agree with DickB. Am finally having some success announcing position coming into non-towered strips. Don't know what FS++ Crew did, and probably wouldn't understand it if they did tell me, but almost a year of frustration is coming to an end. (I hope). Ed Brown Keremeos BC Canada.
  4. Randall, Purchased MCE in November of last year for ATC only and NO COPILOT WANTED!!!! Only fly singles VFR and bush strips throughout all the FTX/Orbx packages. Have had MCE since it was version 2.4.4.8. The latest version now in use is 2.4.8.6. The FS++ Crew is tops for support and have ALMOST got me 100% satisfied. Still having problems with position announcement coming into non-towered strips. Have to resort to voice selection of the correct ATC box number when 3 or 4 normal transmits don't work. Be prepared for a lot of voice training and studying the phrases needed for MCE to work flawlessly. Good MCE forum here http://rainbird.heavenforum.org/ Scroll down to get to it. 5. Be prepared for some frustrating taxiing speed control, even after making support suggested air file tweaks. Other than that, this has been my favorite since it first came out. STOL makes this an ideal VFR bush flyers choice.
  6. If possible give FSX a dedicated drive, or for sure, don't install it in Programs (86).Once installed go to the fsx.exe, right click to get to properties, open the compatibility tab, check mark the "run this in compatibility mode for" and on the pull down menu select Windows 7.Select "apply" and you should be good to go.On my original installation the default was set to Windows XP.I was always having a lot of weird things happening when using alt/enter to get in and out of full screen mode and have not had any problems since setting the compatibilty as above.Hope you enjoy FSX.
  7. Have had the Quest Kodiak for a long time and it has been my favorite VFR craft.Received much good advice from Lionheart on tweaks to get the plane set up to my liking.Only real complaint, other than some of the internal view graphics, is that the float plane versions are of no use to me because of no control on start up or landing. A very big let down for flying VFR in all the great coastal scenery packages out now.How do you fly the float models???
  8. Clutch Cargo, I also bought the Quest Kodiak but am having a hell of a time with my CH Products yoke/throttle/conditioner responses. Find it very hard to get a proper taxi speed etc. Have been playing around with the air.cfg settings as suggested by Willaim Ortis from Lionheart but still not satisfied with my set up.I'm sure a real world Kodiak pilot would say that the configuration for this plane is way off base.So are you satisfied with your set up?
  9. Ram shouldn't be a problem -- 3x2 DDR3 -1600 9-9-9. 6GB total.Have run FSX in windowed mode with the Task Manager showing on my second monitor. The CPU is loafing at a maximum 48% and have never seen any of the cores over 3/4 of the way up the scale.Have never had anything to do with the page file and I don't see it mentioned in Nicks' guide.????Have set up the graphics in the NVidia Control panel as per Nicks' guide. Lowering the AA level doesn't take away my taxing, turning or side view in flight stutters. Thanks for the interest.
  10. Glad to hear that tweak from ******* worked.I just installed Tongass Fjords and all the FTX NA Blue Pacific Fjords,Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest.I now have those *%@#** microstutters back AGAIN!!!!Used the FSX.cfg from ******* and get a "congratulations-no more tweaking required" but still get micro-stuttering, no matter what I try.Unchecked all the new installs in the FSX library and still getting stutters.Let FSX build a new cfg and still getting stutters.Don't know what the hell happened but I'm at a loss as to what to look for now.Back to FS9????
  11. To JS47 & Superpilotv2 in above posts re stutters. This is what I did as per tweak by *******;In root folder of FSX open Autogen folderYou should see a file called default.xmlRight click this file and select notepad to open this so you can edit it.In the very top line <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> change the 16 to 8 and save.Worked for me and easy to switch back if it doesn't help.A search for "Stutters in FSX" and much reading of all the info found this tweak by ******* but I didn't save it.He explains what this tweak does for those that want to get into the "meat" of it.Clear skies everyone.
  12. Have undulating roads in the Okanagan of BC beside lakes & rivers in new install of FSX Gold & Acceleration. Installed all of FS Genesis mesh(Galaxy Lifetime member)but still have the problem. No amount of slider adjustments makes any change.Own GEX, UTX & all FTX/Orbx stuff but don't want to install them as long as this basic problem exists.Don't really want to try a uninstall/reinstall but may come to that.Would send a jpg if I knew how?Any suggestions I can try?
  13. My experience with stutters started right after new build computer. Used Nicks' guide, which is excellent by the way, but had stutters on views out the sides. Found a fix by Bejoe(*******) that changes a setting in the autogen.xml. BINGO-- stutters ALL GONE. This man has changed FSX totally for me.Clear skies everyone.
  14. Thank you so much bilkesimpie.Changed mine to 35 and now have the best bush plane in my fleet!!!Was sure there was a fix but as I said, not familiar enough with what each figure represents to start mucking about in hopes of stumbling onto it.Thanks again and all the best to you and yours.Edwin Brown Keremeos BC Canada.
  15. Is the ground handling configuration of the default FSX Maule anywhere near the real thing? I can't believe it is from my experience with other tail draggers so far.Fantastic STOL aircraft but find that the turning radius on the ground gets me into the trees on some small strips.(CH USB yoke & pedals.)End up going into slew mode to park or line up for take off.Have been searching the forums for a possible configuration fix but nothing so far. Hoping someone here can help me out as I don't want to start playing around in unfamiliar cfg files.Found a fix for the starting torque problem, can use the panel starter now instead of Control E. Also found a fix for the taxi/landing lights. Thanks for any help you can give me.Ed Brown Keremeos BC Canada.
  16. Have been using a scenery sorting prog for years -- fsscenery.zip.Hope it works for you too.Ed Brown Keremeos BC Canada.
  17. Thanks to all for the answers. Just have to use the landing lights for taxing and be cursed at by the blinded!
  18. Can someone tell me if the default C172 should have both taxi & landing lights. I have landing light but no taxi light. Thanks.
  19. Thanks Jim and Kyle. I use a prog made by Steve Greenwood to sort out the layering in the scenery.cfg. Went to the Scenery Solutions site and found that UTX Canada/USA has my problem already reported and listed for the next "patch". Also see that this patch could be a while before it is issued.
  20. FSX scenery has gone strange and not sure what caused it. Recently did a complete removal and reinstall as per Nicks' guide. Have all of FSGenisis(Galaxy Member), UTX Canada/USA and just upgraded GEX to 1.09. Also used Nicks' guide for UTX setup. Flew from Toronto to Hamilton today and have a major highway, with traffic, running right through the runway??? Am I looking at ANOTHER reinstall or can someone give me some tips on clearing up this strange problem. Thanks in advance.
  21. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I tried the one for FS9 and it looks terrible in FSX.Thanks anyway.
  22. Has anyone done an FSX scenery package for the Confederation Bridge that connects Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick?? Search of Avsim and "the other place" don't come up with anything. :(
  23. Like many others -- have had to do a complete uninstall & reinstall after trying to get auxilliary purchased progs to work in FSX. Up and running again but now have no automatic log book entries for any flights made. Is there somewhere that I should be making a selection to do so? I don't recall having to make any choice on the original install. Thanks to anyone who can help.
  24. I spent a good 3 months tweaking everything there is to tweak to try and get even 30. Finally said to hell with it and concentrated on limiting the stutters. Don't even have frame rates showing anymore. Like most, I have to move sliders around to suite the scenery/local etc. Nicks' guide was the biggest help of all. :(
