Tires squeal
In RL I've never heard tire squeal on landing in anything larger than a Cessna... You certainly cannot hear it from the cockpit/cabin of any airliner today. Even externally any sound given off by the tires is squelched out by the sound of wind and idle thrust. I spent almost three years as a ramper and have spent many hours watching 737s take off and land, at times as little as 100' away from the touchdown point, and you still cannot hear the tires even on cold winter nights when the airport is dead, where the only aircraft you hear is the last term coming in for the night.

L and R AFT overwing door lights illuminate while taxying w/ doors closed
I've had this intermittently for a while and assumed it was just a 737 quirk when not pressurized.

IPAD and United/Continental Airlines
I managed to snag two Touchpads during last weekend's madness... Hoping to snag a few more as the last of the inventory dries up (they make great gifts and have pretty decent resale value too!). I haven't tried it as a kneeboard yet (have a second monitor for charts/checklists/other stuff), but having a dedicated checklist screen would be nice. I should put some velcro on the back and try it out! :)

Warning sound?
The Helios screw did screw up pretty badly, but having the same warning sound with no annunciations is a pretty big fail on Boeing's part.

Issue getting lined up with the runway
The approaches at LOWI and ENBO are not aligned with the runway. The approaches at Innsbruck aren't even named after a runway (West and East LOC approaches), which may be some European thing. I believe in the US they're associated with the runway unless they are >30 degrees off, at which point they are circling only approaches (but don't quote me on that... its been a while since instrument training!). Straight in minimums are still published, so I'm not sure why they aren't called the LOC/DME 08 and LOC/DME 26...

TrackIR
I have a button on my yoke for pausing input, but for the most part the control resolution is fine enough to hold the view steady while I'm turning a knob or flipping a switch.

TrackIR
IMO, hand flying the NGX is much much easier and enjoyable with TrackIR... Above 5-10k its paused 90% of the time, but below that it's unbeatable for its immersion factor. It really give a "VR"-like feel to the cockpit, having to physically tilt my head upwards to manipulate the overhead, or turn to the right to see the Bonanza at 2 o'clock, or to judge a base-to-final turn. It offers a level of control that a hat or static POVs do not, and I couldn't fly without it!

Using separate throttles with the 737NGX
I use the CH yoke and set it up with their crappy software package only to get my left trigger as a PTT button for Vatsim. However I do have independent throttles (levers 2+3) with my speedbrake as lever 1. I haven't had any issues with control and the blue arc works as intended (independent and only when moving). I don't have the full version of FSUIPC (though I assume I probably have the basic version somewhere around) but have never used it for calibrating anything.

If you are having no problems...
Core i7-920 @ 3.35 Ghz (low because of stock cooling), Gigabyte EX58-UD4P Mobo, 6GB DDR3, Radeon 4850 512MB, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit... Havn't had a CTD yet (except ending a flight, kinda lame but acceptable).

When do you disengage AP before landing ?
I usually turn off the AP/AT at the outer marker, unless its been a long flight and I've been hitting the liquor cart a little too much!

GPWS Test - Missing an alert?
Oh, lame, but thanks for the clarification. I guess it makes sense that the GPWS wouldn't be able to predict windshear without a radar :).

GPWS Test - Missing an alert?
Now that the initial flood of forum posts has (somewhat) subsided, *bump* :).
