  1. I've been away from simming and the community for some time, so I'm just reading up a bit. I love this piece, for me, news. One of the things I love about X-Plane is the sloped runways that we don't get in Prepar3d. I tend to fly props and turbo props in X-Plane and my beloved Boeings in Prepar3d (738 and 772). I do love to fly my also beloved and nostalgic B752 and B763 in X-plane as the flight model in X-Plane, in my opinion, is second to none; and I am aware that PMDG aircraft is a different beast in this regard altogether and handles this outside the sim. I love what you do and have loved it for so many years now. Keep up the great work 😊
  2. This is an amazing tool. Thank you for making this
  3. Thank you for coming to X-Plane. I am absolutely intimidated by this plane. How on Earth should I manage to learn to fly this beast solo in my spare time? OMG, hehe. Maybe that is why I am not too much of a fan of the oldies, unless they come retrofitted with an FMC. Personally, I would love to see the 737NG in X-Plane. There is always hope
  4. Thank you for your help. I have no intention of installing UHD Mesh. I do use HD Mesh v3. I shall save the money. When I do upgrade my desktop I shall build a PC for flight simming and use my laptop Mac (my "lapmac") for everything else that does not require rendering power. Cheers,
  5. Hullo, I bought X-Plane 10 not long ago and I am really enjoying it. I also have FSX but I have not used it since I acquired X-Plane; I have not quit on it though. However, FSX is a 32-bit application and I am using the 64-bit version of X-plane 10. Now, I am not a hardware expert but I could imagine that the two applications make use of my hardware in different ways. This is my iMac: 27" iMac (medio 2011): Intel Core i5-2400 CPU (3,1GHz) 8GB DDR3 RAM AMD ATi Radeon HD 6970M (1GB DDR5 RAM) Can anyone here tell me if I would see a better performance if I up my RAM from 8GB to 16GB? Or is X-Plane more focused on GPU and VRAM. In addition, would it be worth the cost of the RAM modules; approx. $142/€134/£97 for 2 x 4GB modules. Thanks for your help in advance
  6. There is also a question of P3D licenses. It is not an entertainment product; meaning if you are not a student, teacher, a student pilot or trained pilot, you do not meet the criteria for a license and may not use to application. That many seem to do it anyway is another thing. Personally, my machine is not powerful enough to run P3D smoothly with the settings I want. Therefore, I recently bought X-Plane 10. I am still figuring at all out but I am really enjoying it so far... and then it is a 64-bit application. I would not say I have switched. I still have FSX. I have a lot of money invested in FSX. However, I cannot ignore the fact that I do not use FSX these days. PMDG has also started developing for X-Plane and one can only hope that RealAir and A2A will do the same. X-Plane 10 is just amazing
  7. AVSIM has brought so much value into my hobby. Thank you so much for this. As so many have already said the time has now come to focus on yourself and your loved ones. Spend as much time as you can with them and do what you feel is right at each moment. AVSIM is a thriving community and I am sure, you have a competent staff that can take over. Again, thank you so much for AVSIM and the immense value it brings to our hobby. My thoughts go to you and your loved ones and I shall pray that your remaining time shall be comfortable, painless and that you, at the end, can move on looking back at a great life with a sense of joy and satisfaction of everything you have experienced, learned, and accomplished. You have brought joy and value into many people's lives. Know that this is a great accomplishment that only few achieve.
  8. Ok, I may have found out why I experience this unrealistic behaviour by reading Andy Goldstein's post in the thread Ground Handling on the X-Plane.org forums. He wrote: Maybe the odd behaviour is also caused because of this missing contact patch friction. I know about the parking brake trick. This is also how I do it. I have never flown the Tomahawk in the real world but I find it hard to believe that it would start taxiing when under 800RPM. I know that the Grob G155 (a carbon composite two seater) certainly wouldn't. I hope LR will fix this issue in the future as it makes this part for the "ultra realistic" sim a bit unrealistic. Anyway, I know the King Air can be a beast to taxi. I have only flown it in FSX (the C90B in my signature). However, if you "tame" the propellers it's a quite gentle lady
  9. Hi, I'm new to X-Plane. It seems that the planes like to start rolling even though the throttle is in idle position. I have just bought the Tomahawk II from Alabeo and this one does it too. I have only flown the Grob G115 in the real world and I don't recall it behaving like this. Is this a bug in X-Plane in general or is there a setting I'm missing? Cheers, Hakim Harder
  10. I'm very excited to see PMDG releasing a plane for the X-Plane platform. I just bought it and really like it. I'm dazzled by the flight dynamics. I really hope to see developers like A2A Simulations, RealAir and EagleSoft come on board as well I hope PMDG will fully adopt X-Plane as a platform to develop for. I think would be a very important step to get more developers over; scenery developers as well.
  11. I just bought X-Plane 10 on Steam recently. This looks great. I am slowly getting to know all this "X-Plane stuff". It is vastly different than FSX.
  12. Does the company exist at all anymore?
  13. I have switched to FSX:SE. I am SO looking forward to this. I miss my 737 I have also just purchased X-Plane 10... now I want it for X-Plane also, haha
  14. I live in Europe. I can fly just as well in the US as in Europe. As I understand it transition altitude is FL180 in general in the US. Lbs/kgs and pressure types can be set up in most tubeliners. I have GA type airplanes where the altimeter is set in inches of mercury... we don't use that where I live; we use mb. If I can't change the settings in the plane I am flying, I can change it in the sim. No bigge really. As a foot note... just because I live in Europe doesn't mean I know how to fly in Switzerland. If you want to do it realistically I reckon you should learn the avaition laws in every single country as they can be different from each other. Also if the home country of your plane has restrictions that don't apply to local planes in Switzerland, they still apply to your plane. So... it can also be complicated for Europeans to fly in Europe Cheers,
