  2. When I made my first trip with the 400F/FSX I noticed very strange performance differences between the pax and the cargo version
  3. Hi Ray,thanks for the explanation - I loaded now the second version and everything is fine. I know that the F has no stab tanks, but my question was the difference between load mgr and manual for the pax version :QTE :The max fuel is also different in the pax version : 173423 kgs load mgr and 175087 kgs manualOr 382336 lbs load mgr to 386000 lbs manual UNQTEThere are very strange differences between pax and cargo in performance details - fuel flow and initial climb - I did a few "test flights", will come back to this later after more testing.Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  4. Hi Thomas,my system is simple :Vista 32 2GB 7650GSFSX SP1 ASX PMDG 747X. . . and no buildings at all ! nowhere !Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  5. Hihad the same problem . . . just cleared my registry and everything was OK after that . . .Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  6. Hi,same problem like Carsten have - even worse NO buildings at KATL this morning - my first flight with FSX and PMDG 747.Long time simmer with FS9 - never saw such a mess like FSX . . .Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  7. Hi, I was in contact with Microsoft and got very competent help ( which did not solve the problem . . . ) but this gentleman suspected one of the latest vista updates to be the reason !He suggested to chk if update KB 932246 is installed, then chk if the program FS9 is running better in the compatibily mode ( Xp) and as administrator - I cannot chk this right now because I did not reinstall FS 9 for 5th time . . .Edit: I was VERY impressed by the MS service - after 1 week THEY called back and asked if the problem was solved !!Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  8. Hi,I have redone everything - complete re-install of the PC - and . . . it works !I my opinion a CLEAN registry is the SECRET behind Vista . . . before I had nearly 11000 ( ELEVENTHOUSAND ) wrong or invalid entries in the registry !! There are tools available which checks and clears the registry very effectivly ( i.e. uniblue regbooster )Had my first BER-JFK flight with no problems whatsoever - a few little gimmicks :At assigned alt the a/c sometimes jumps +/- 500 ftFor nearly 1 1/2 hours I had no connection to ASX ( not a 747X problem ? )FSRealtime would not connect , but I feel that time is not a problem any more with FSX ( FS9 used only 52 mins for the hour, but FSX is more or less ON TIME - just a fraction too slow)and most importantthe FMC is much more precise - fuel calculation you can trust !Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  9. Hi Aaron, how do you expect this to be solved ?I tried again with the same result . . . I have no explanation for this !This is the FS9 forum, so I just add here that FSX just running perfect on my vista PC . . .
  10. Ray,FS9 is on CD . . .One step after the other - today SP1 - testing again . . .then add-on's - testing and so onEDP = MUP ( in german: Methode Unbekuemmeten Probierens ) which means roughly = trying without fear . . . Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  11. Hi,wonders still happen . . . I just installed FSX - and it is running smooth as silk . . .Can it happen that the discs of FS9 have a problem that they do not install properly ?Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  12. Hi, thanks for your help.It is not a hardware problemI narrowed it in as a graphic driver problem - but have no solution as yet . . . all the latest drivers installed, but even when I download and install the NVIDIA driver dated Nov 05 - it shows in driver details as Oct 04 . . . !I am using Vista, but the XP OEM Version is already here and I thinking about changing back to XP.Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  13. Good morning, since my system was totally unstable, I cleaned up my system and it really showed me some progress . . .Then I reinstalled FS9 plus SP1 and had the following result :After I made my first settings and MINIMIZED FS9 to make other settings - and after reopening FS9 the screen went black and only the choosen airplane from FS9 was turning around in a small window ! No mouse was seen anymore and the ONLY possibility was to open the task mgr and close the FS9 task - a window came up : The program does not work anymore and close it immediately. So I formatted the HDD for FS9 and reinstalled it again - now w/o the SP1 - with the same result . . . !I never had this before - I installed the FS9 already several times with no problems.Any suggestions ?Edit : I should add that NO other add-ons installed as yet !Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  14. Might be a silly question, but . . .I have to reinstall everything related to flight sim - do I have to activate ASv6.5 with a code ?I know I need to with ASX ( and I have this code ! ) but cannot find any code for ASv6.5 in my archives . . .Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  15. After the 400F is included in the new package, I got interested in the 400F and . . . I checked the 747 manual. But . . .I could not find any basic data for the F-version - just one little note that the max fuel capacity is less . . .Where can I find . . .Max fuel OK found in load mgrMaxTO Wt OKMax Ldg Wt still missing !Max ZFW OKBOW ( may vary between the diff. airlines ) just a good averageboth in lbs and kgs - I calculated around 165.000 kgs - is this more or less realistic ?As mentionned above found some data in the load mgr - but again have some questions here :at full cargo it shows 12 pax with 4246 kgs which means each pax counts for about 350 kgs - pretty heavy . . .full cargo means 47940 kgs which is MUCH too less - a 747F can carry easy around 100 tons with of course less range . . . on the other hand, if you load the pax 747 it carries 50 tons in addition to the pax weight . . . Is there any way to enter own cargo figures . . . ?Also the MAXZFW figures of load mgr differs from the manual :246072 load mgr and 242671 in the manual
  16. Hi James, thanks for the fast reply.HD space is not a problem - 194G free . . . .Defrag is done on a regular basis.Nvidia drivers were installed about 14 days agoLoading time Cessna 172 at Friday Harbour = 12Mins 30 secMeanwhile I installed FSX and SP1 on my 4 1/2 year old XP machine( 1G RAM ATI 1650x graphic card Pentium 4 )and I loaded the same Cessna within SECONDS !!BTW : Cessna came up in the air . . . and frame rate looked OK with this relatively old machine !Have not yet installed the PMDG 747X on the XP machine. 17. Hi all,I am really in trouble . . .Lets start at the beginning =Installed FSX and SP1 about 9 months ago, made a few tests and then shut it down waiting for a PMDG aircraft available for FSX . . .This morning I downloaded the 747X - with no problems at all - installed it and started FSX . . . It took about 5 mins to the initial page and then selecting PMDG 747 GE version. The scenery load took more than 16 mins ( I started my stopwatch somewhat later . . . ) and after it was finally finished -IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN for another 30 MINUTES !!Totally frustrated I used the SEARCH FUNCTION ( FSX scenery loading ) and got over 500 ( FIVEHUNDRED !! ) replies, which I don't have checked all !I use Vista Home Premium, 2GB RAM ,Intel Dual Core and a moderate graphic card ( Nvidia 7650 )no add-ons and Active sky X was NOT activated.Has this something to do with 747X - I don't believe, because others would have mentionned this.Any help or suggestions highly appreciated !!
  18. QTEPMDG strongly discourages using FSX in the Windows Vista operating system, regardless of how much processor speed, video capability or memory you may have.UNQTEThis will kill my purchase . . . How about the FS9 update ? - Is it free , since I have to call the 400X download ??Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  19. Hi,I did not run into this problem by installing FSX in a seperate partition - with those gigantic HDD its no problem to create a seperate partition and keep both sims completely seperate
  20. Hi,are there any infos about rtfinder ? since a couple of days the site does not work anymore . . .I know, there were some troubles with another site . . .Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Fosterhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg
  21. Hi Rob,one of the reasons 2 or 3 pilots sitting in the cockpit - also to watch the ND where all the infos about other aircraft are shown . . . one of our RL pilots in my company mentionned once,TCAS is the best invention in the airline history since ages !You will see the conflicting traffic well in advance - unless you set the radius to 5 NM ... - you have all info about altitude of conflicting traffic, either difference to your alt or straight alt information. In RL you would call ATC and req clarification. 1000ft difference in alt look awful close when 2 ac are at M.85 . . .Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Foster
  22. Hi Mats, was no fun for you . . . I had 395 Ktons on asphalt with no problems - must be something else ( the extra 1000 kgs did something, which I don't understand when it crashed ? )- 4000 mtrs should be ok !Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Foster
  23. HiI really can't believe it . . .I took off with only 1300 kgs less at 395569 kgs - V-speeds were identical . . . with no problems whatsoever ! Will try a new one at VHHHwith MaxTowKarl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Foster
  24. Hi Matts, yep, this might be the cause of the problem - but this morning I reduced the TOW only by a 1000 lbs or about 500 kgs - and, off I went with no further problem . . .
  25. Hi,after several unsuccessful attempts to take-off at or just barely below MaxTOW I would like to know if you have to observe special procedures for this. I have roughly 1000 hrs on this type and never ever had any problems while taking off . . .Some data : WSSS Rwy 20C TOW 874621 lbs or 396851 kgs - V1 Vr V2 at 154/170/181 - temps around 30 CAfter V1 and shortly before Vr the AC stops on the runway and it says in german "Absturz" ( german version of FS9 ) which means "crash" . . .The AC is right on centerline, all wheels are still there where they should be.I waited at the runway holding point to be sure all taxi fuel was used and to be sure to have not exceeded MaxTOW.After three attempts I reduced the tow by 2500 lbs or 1000 kgs, everything was fine . . . the v-speeds were then 1 kt less !Any explainations ?Karl-Heinz - EDDI/THF " Tempelhof "" The mother of all airports " - Sir Norman Foster
